Byron Donalds Suddenly Develops An Allergy To Trump

Byron Donalds appears to be giving his campaign website a rather conspicuous Trump makeover — by taking Trump out of it. It's not too surprising, since Trump's poll numbers are dropping faster than Melania on allowance day. Still, Byron Donalds will never get the Trump stink off of him.

The Florida Republican gubernatorial candidate’s website once made Donald Trump’s endorsement nearly impossible to miss. Visitors were greeted with “TRUMP-ENDORSED” branding, a banner proclaiming “ENDORSED BY PRESIDENT TRUMP!” and a button urging supporters to chip in for “Trump Endorsed Byron Donalds.” There was even a prominent section featuring Trump’s 2025 declaration: “RUN, BYRON, RUN!”

Now? Almost all of it is gone, the Miami Herald reports.

Donalds’ revamped website has scrubbed those prominent Trump references, along with a photo of Donalds and his wife, Erika, posing with Trump. The endorsement hasn’t disappeared completely, but it has been demoted to a rotating list alongside other Republican endorsements.

The campaign also quietly removed “Enact the Trump Agenda” from the top of Donalds’ priority list. Affordability now comes first, and Trump’s name doesn’t appear anywhere on that page.

According to website-monitoring service Visualping, the campaign removed at least eight references to Trump from the homepage.

That’s quite a change for a candidate who spent much of his primary campaign making Trump’s endorsement a central selling point. “Trump-endorsed Byron Donalds” was practically treated as part of his name.

The timing is difficult to miss. Trump’s approval ratings have fallen, the U.S. war with Iran has dragged on, and rising gas prices have become another political headache for Republicans. Donalds is hardly the only Republican suddenly creating a little extra distance from the president.

Miami Republican Rep. María Elvira Salazar has also launched a campaign ad criticizing the Trump administration’s approach to mass immigrant detention and deportation.

Donalds’ campaign did not immediately respond to the outlet's questions about scrubbed Trump references, and we can't imagine why.

Another noticeable omission came recently: During his primary victory speech in Orlando, Donalds praised Republican figures including Sen. Rick Scott but never mentioned Trump.

Apparently, “Trump-endorsed” is still technically part of the résumé. It just seems to have been moved to the bottom of the page and asked to keep its sound down. And he somehow did this without blaming Obama. Congrats, I guess.
