On Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures, Republican Majority Whip Tom Emmer claimed the Trump economy is doing wonderfully; the polling problems they face for the 2026 midterms is just a messaging problem caused by left-wing media.
This is the Republican strategy for the midterms. Deny reality and accountability and blame Biden and the media at all costs.
Fox News started by playing video of the new Fed chairman saying inflation is running past their 2% target and bringing prices down should be the priority. Fox News posted posted BLS inflation data for the year at 3.4%.
All this information went by the wayside when Emmer showed up.
Guest host Cheryl Casone asked about the $40T dollar debt. Emmer blamed prior administrations and claimed only Republicans are committed to reducing the deficit. They've been in office two years and he's still making promises after voting to increase the debt by trillions for tax cuts for billionaires.
The Big Ugly Bill for the rich added significantly to the debt which he voted for.
Then the topic switched to the midterms.
CASONE: Let me ask you about the messaging to the American people because we saw consumer confidence fall in August. Americans are worried about gasoline prices, what they're seeing at the grocery store, health care prices, you know.
So what is the messaging plan here for Republicans as you go into the midterms? Because this seems to be issue number one for America, and that's affordability.
How do you get that message out there from your side?
EMMER: Well, it's it's very interesting. Cheryl, I've talked to our members all across this country. They talk about the great things that are in that working families tax cut, the big, beautiful bill, whatever you want to call it.
And they're pulling out those different items that really we have to do a good job messaging at the street level. At the macro level, what do you expect the public to feel when the left wing media is writing articles on a regular basis and telling the American people it's not good out there?
It is.
This is insane. It's not good out there and Emmer knows it.
Right-wing media dominates the airwaves and the internet. Fox News, Newsmax and the rest rarely, if ever deliver truthful segments on any topic.
"Wages are rising faster than they have risen in decades, and they are keeping up," Emmer said.
This is a big, fat fucking lie.
Wages rising 2% does not keep up with 3.4% inflation.
People are drowning in Trump's economy.
Rep. Emmer, like every Republican is forced to lie.
EMMER: The feeling, though, based on all of the the information they're getting is, well, it's not it's not that great.
Really, their spending is up. They're spending is up. Their wages are up.
I think we've got to do a really good job down the down the stretch of emphasizing that.
And I think the American people, they recognize they're smarter than Washington and these left wing media types.
They understand this is an election about common sense, which is Donald Trump and Republicans and crazy insanity, which is our colleagues on the other side of the aisle.
The crazy insanity is coming from the Trump administration.
Common sense tells the public that Trump is demented, the Iran war is unconscionable, and prices on all things have skyrocketed under his direction.
Republicans have controlled the House, Senate and the Supreme Court for Trump's second term and thing shave deteriorated significantly.
Please continue to claim messaging as your only problem.
Good look with blaming others for your malfeasance.
