"A noun, a verb, and trans kids. It's all Clay's got." Mike Nellis whacked right-wing hack Clay Travis for doing his best to distract everyone from Trump's disastrous presidency during a segment on this Friday's The Story with Martha MacCallum.

During yet another segment where they were fearmongering over the DSA and Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, with Travis accusing the entire Democratic Party of being anti-Semitic and conflating hatred with the current Israeli government and their actions with hatred of Jewish people, Nellis --who is very good every time he appears on one of these right-wing networks -- called Travis out for the lie on the party being antisemitic before hammering him for constantly reverting to culture war issues because they sure as hell don't want to talk about what Trump is doing to the country.

Here's the back-and-forth before guest host Gillian Turner finally ended the segment as the discussion got more heated.

NELLIS: Yeah, well, I want to respond to something that Clay said first. It's not true that the majority of Democrats in the party are anti-Semitic, and I think that's become the Republican Party's new favorite talking point...

TRAVIS: It is true.

NELLIS: ...to cover up for the fact that Donald Trump doesn't have any way to end this war in Iran.

Hey, Clay, I didn't interrupt you. I'd ask that you don't interrupt me. Let me talk.

Here's the thing. Republicans want to spend more time talking about...

TRAVIS: Don't say stupid things, Mike.

NELLIS: ... a Twitch streamer than they want to talk about Donald Trump and his policies or what he's going to do to help the average American.

The economy is an absolute mess right now. The job market is horrible. Inflation is out of control. This war is ridiculous. Donald Trump is stealing billions of dollars, and they want to talk to me about a guy who streams online. I don't care.

I think some of the things that Hasan has said are offensive. The vast majority of Democratic Party leaders called this stuff out, and you guys want to do wall to wall coverage talking about this guy because it's an easy way to scare people into not noticing that Donald Trump is a terrible lame duck president, that people are really upset and his party is barreling towards a midterm loss because the vast majority of Americans are really angry right now.

We've got a poll this week showing Donald Trump's approval rating is 31 percent. He's underwater on basically every issue, including immigration, which is kind of hard to believe.

People are really upset right now. And I think that Donald Trump and the MAGA movement and folks like Clay would be better off talking about what they're going to do to actually help people instead of trying to demagogue Arabs in Michigan or Democrats on Jewish voters. It's just ridiculous.

TURNER: Clay?

TRAVIS: Look, Mike's wrong on pretty much everything he always argues. I've got an easy question for you.

NELLIS: Oh, there's a great cogent argument.

TRAVIS: Should men be able to play in women's sports? Should men be able to play in women's sports? Really simple.

NELLIS: That's all Clay's got. He's going to go right back to your talking points on social issues so he doesn't have to talk about the economy. (crosstalk) A noun, a verb, and trans kids. It's all Clay's got.

TRAVIS: It's a very simple question.

NELLIS: Get some new material, Clay.

TRAVIS: Should men... should men be able...

NELLIS: What's the Republican Party's plan to deal with the affordability crisis in the country?

TRAVIS: Yes or no. No, no, no... Mike (crosstalk)

NELLIS: Clay, what's the Republican's plan to deal with the economy and the job market that Donald Trump failed? (crosstalk) Answer me. No! Give me something new.

TRAVIS: I cannot trust you on affordability if you can answer a basic question. Should men be able to play women's sports? Should they?

NELLIS: Clay, you got anything new? (crosstalk) Is this what they pay you for, to just say the same stuff every week? (crosstalk)

Yeah, because the really important thing is that we're all civil while someone lies and distracts.

As I have said before, I'm not a big fan of Democrats going on Fox, but if you're going to go on there, this is how you do it.
