Trump took questions from a group of reporters while arriving for a rally in Charlotte, NC, this Wednesday and was asked about European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's offer to Prime Minister Mark Carney for Canada to become the first "associate member" of the EU.

Trump responded by threatening more illegal tariffs and potentially further destroying the US economy by cutting off trade with Europe if Canada joins.

TRUMP: Canada's been a terrible trade partner. If they do that, if I think it’s at all a hostile act, I will put very serious tariffs or stop trading with Europe.

So if they do that, if Europe does that with a bad intention, if it's a good intention, that's fine. If it's a bad intention, we'll put very heavy tariffs on them.
