If there was a defining moment that showed the corruption and immoral actions Todd Blanche and the DOJ took to enact Trump's vengeance against his rivals, it was Joe diGenova's resignation.
DiGenova served as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1983–1988 under Ronald Reagan and was also appointed in 1992 to investigate Bill Clinton. During the Monica Lewinsky investigations, he and his wife, Victoria Toensing, became cable-TV stablemates and continued to move in DC circles in the 21st century.
He has been a comfortable Trump ally and was recently appointed by Trump to investigate "Obama-era figures who allegedly pushed claims of collusion between Donald Trump and Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign."
The Trump White House became disillusioned with him because he wasn't indicting people fast enough for their liking.
The NY Post reported, "Asked whether he had lost focus, diGenova dismissed the accusation and shot back: “If you want indictments where there’s no evidence, you have an ethical problem.”
"Another source added that diGenova had been sharing “unrealistic expectations” for the probe with the president about what was possible and not possible, leading to a confrontation with Attorney General Todd Blanche."
This is another black eye for AG Todd Blanche, who proved again that his only function is to appease Vonshitshispants.
Digby writes, "Wow. I think Lindsey Halligan and Alina Habba are available, so all isn’t lost. Joe DiGenova is a made man in the conservative movement and is not known for having any scruples. I mean, we’re talking about this guy."
A week ago, Fox News anchor Chris Wallace reported that Joe diGenova was working with Rudy Giuliani "off the books" to dig up Ukrainian dirt on Biden, and Trump was the only one in government who knew of the plan.
Here's diGenova and Rudy appearing together tonight on Fox. https://t.co/ps7a5VjTSH
