Throughout Donald Trump's second term, both the tech and defense industries have found a particularly strong friend in the sitting president. But midterm elections are quite literally right around the corner now; tides are changing, and corporate America is now in a panicked scramble to turn its back on the president and cozy up to the Democrats as quickly as it can, in a desperate effort to save its asses from the onslaught of congressional investigations that it knows are soon to come if Congress swings Blue once again, as predicted.
Silicon Valley Democratic strategist Cooper Teboe spoke with The Washington Post on the matter and revealed that multiple firms that have spent the last two years building deep, strong ties with the Trump Administration are now calling him up in an unhinged panic, looking for direction on which Democrats to suck up to with donations or board positions.
"They essentially made the cardinal sin of forgetting that pendulums reliably do one thing — and it swings back most of the time," Teboe told The Post. "They've got a rough couple years ahead."
As we're all well aware by now, President Trump's approval rating has steadily sunk to a record low as the American people continue to suffer and drown under his policies and bad decisions, paving the way for the Democratic Party to pull Congress back under its control, where they have already confirmed they will launch extensive investigations into multiple corporate industries, including defense, tech, and the military supply chain.
Almost a dozen various congressional staffers, lobbyists, attorneys, investors, and high-ranking executives spoke with the publication and not only confirmed the Democratic Party's plans, but further confirmed that several firms with connections to Donald Trump's eldest son and namesake, Don Jr., that have received windfalls of Pentagon money -- to the tune of $3.2 billion in federal contracts across 15 companies -- are at the top of the chopping block. Insiders also confirmed that companies linked to Elon Musk's DOGE fiasco are high on the priority list.
Multiple attorneys with expertise in congressional probes warned that Democrats won't dawdle on this matter if they secure their victories next month, after learning their lesson the hard way in Donald Trump's first presidential term.
Jamie Blair, of Cromwell & Morning, told The Post, "It's going to get pretty intense pretty quickly," while Brandon Rios of DLA Piper agreed, "Every committee is going to want a piece of this."
The companies are now facing the impending consequences of their actions, after spending the last two years focused solely on their relationships with the president and his administration. Now they're desperate to plug a few token Democrats into their boards in a last-ditch effort to appear bipartisan, as investors reportedly tell companies to "build something that will thrive in any administration."
Meanwhile, Rios warned that these companies may be screwed in the end, no matter how their congressional investigations shake out.
"You can come in and get out clean and [investigations could] still have a huge business impact," he said.
Rest assured, we are sending them all of our deepest, most heartfelt thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
