While Donald Trump is desperately scrambling to save whatever slim hope he has left for the midterms, his wife Melania is seemingly desperate to stay as far away from him as possible.
President Trump is slated to headline the second day of a Dallas midterm convention next week, and already dozens of Republican candidates have snubbed him, citing a litany of excuses ranging from family obligations to a desire to stay in their hometowns as elections close in, to simply no longer wanting to be publicly associated with the train wreck we call a president.
And guess who else isn't coming?
Speaking with the Washington Examiner, one Trump White House official made it abundantly clear that Donald Trump's own wife has absolutely no intention of making even a brief appearance at her husband's desperate midterm event.
Even in Trump's first term, Melania was far from what I would consider an engaged and eager first lady. But since her husband's return to the White House, following his brutal 2020 loss, Melania Trump has been a ghost, seeming to actually go out of her way to steer clear of him and his constant scandals, not even making a half-baked attempt to carry out any of the duties that are associated with being first lady of the United States.
In fact, a recent Daily Beast analysis found that Melania Trump has only made a grand total of 40 public appearances this entire year, and the year is nearly over now.
Her last public appearance was on August 23, when she attended the Freedom Grand Prix race with her husband amid increasing headlines about Donald's "human binkie," Natalie Harp. Video footage appeared to show their conversation quickly growing heated as Melania spotted Harp nearby.
Before that, her husband's White House convinced her to give a Rose Garden speech to discuss the expansion of her Fostering the Future Initiative on August 20, joking to reporters, "I heard you missed me. Here I am."
Melania Trump: "I heard you missed me; here I am!"
Let's put it to the test.

That speech served as her first public appearance since attending the FIFA World Cup final with her husband on July 19.
Melania did not show up for a slew of other notable events, including the White House Correspondents' Dinner and Lindsey Graham's funeral.
At this point, Trump truly has no one left. It's one thing for his party to abandon him, but even his wife obviously can't stand to be in the same room as him, even to try to help save him from the impeachment they all know is coming if Democrats take Congress back.
