April 22, 1970 a good idea got started. I'm not so sure it's achieved all it set out to do. Certainly, in the years since that first Earth Day we've had more than our fair share of environmental disasters and I don't think the concept of Global Warming was something even considered back then.

The concerns are the same. More so now. The consequences are even more dire and there is daily evidence this fragile place is in danger of dying. But the solutions are still hard to take hold in our society. The idea that most problems are the concerns of others and that small steps of the individual do make a difference are foreign concepts to a lot of people.

I think you could agree it's the by-product of a dumbed-down society. Being detached has its price.
