(Stereophonics - together since 1992 - seven albums - never heard of them, right?)
I'm not entirely sure this is right, but from what I've been able to dig up, Stereophonics have seven studio albums out and none of them have been issued in the U.S. - is that for real?
Can't be. No . . . I forgot, we're talking about the mainstream music business here. Yes, it's very possible.
It used to happen all the time. A band would be huge overseas and nobody would know a thing about them here until they broke up. By then an obligatory "best of" album would come out for a bout fifteen minutes and that would be it. Oh well.
Stereophonics are a Welsh band who have been together, in various lineups, since 1992. Seven albums, a few live albums and a slew of live DVD's and not much of a dent in America. But who cares. They are doing well in the UK and everywhere else in Europe and are mainstays at festivals and headliners.
With that said, here is My Friends, a track off their 2007 album Pull The Pin as well as a single which did very well in the UK.
If your local radio station is adventuresome and plays things from all over the world it's possible you've heard this before. But if you're like a lot of people stuck with really awful radio where you are, this one may be new to you.
In any case, it's right up your Friday night street.
