Good news for the Hendrix obsessed! Janie Hendrix, Jimi's sister who handles the publishing rights and more for all things Jimi, tells Reuters that there's more Hendrix on the way, including never released performances from Hendrix's 1969-1970 project Band of Gypsys:
The artist's recording catalog appears poised to continue expanding, with Hendrix noting that Experience Hendrix has "10 more years of Hendrix music" in the vaults.
"Currently, I am in the studio transferring tapes of Band of Gypsys performances that have never been released before," she said, referring to Hendrix's last band.
Band of Gypsies, Hendrix's more experimental band which featured bassist Billy Cox and drummer Buddy Miles, only played 5 shows, the last of which is considered a disaster -- Buddy Miles claimed that their manager drugged Hendrix's drink to sabotage the show and bring about demand for a reunion of the Jimmy Hendrix Experience. Presumably the tapes are from the parts of these performances that haven't been released yet, but there's no word yet on what the other 9.99 years of music is.
