Daily Show creator and friend of the site Lizz Winstead is having a tough time right now and as a someone who admires her and happy to call her friend, I'm asking for your help.

Lizz's mother is in a hospice in Minnesota, with days to live. Lizz must leave her mother in her last days for a previously scheduled work commitment. And Delta Airlines has decided to make that as difficult for her as possible.

I have had a business trip to Santa Cruz booked from NYC to Santa Cruz back to MN that I cannot miss.

The trip has been planned for months. The flight leaves this Thursday, May 19th.

Lucky for me, the flight from NYC to Santa Cruz has a plane change in Minneapolis.

When I called your customer service in tears to ask if I can simply get the flight to Santa Cruz on the MN leg, so I can spend my mom’s final days with her, your Delta “supervisor” said the only way I can do that is if I pay 800 dollars. I was told you have NO WAY to help me, or to wave the fee. NO WAY.

You Delta, want 800 bucks, for me to simply board my existing flight in the city the flight already has a 3-hour layover.

My only reasonably priced option you offered me is to fly out of Minneapolis on wed night, back to NYC, so I can catch that flight to Santa Cruz the next day that has a 3 hour layover in Minneapolis.

Thanks Delta for the $600 dollar Medical airfare “deal” to get to Minneapolis and for the compassionate $800 dollar ticket change option to stay a bit longer with my mom and family.

Your Compassionate policy is only trumped by your profit lust.

UPDATE: Apparently, having been barraged by supporters of Lizz, Delta did manage to help her out after all. Nice to have a happy ending and I send all my support to Lizz and her mother, Ginny in these final days.
