Thanks John. Looking forward to the call. Come join us folks.
Josh Lyman everybody!!!!
Getting Rid of the Electoral College has to be the worst idea going. It was created just for these reason.
Write to your Reps and tell them that what is being tried in California cannot stand. Our Constitution has already suffered enough from this group of NeoCons and PNAC followers.
Look at the disaster they have created in just six years in office.
Props to Bradley Whitford for taking a stand
Thank you.
2008. This is it..
Network and keep talking everyone.
Families are United.
We will not let Bush and Cheney bankrupt our families and our Country.

I'd have no problem with election by popular vote - NATIONWIDE. That said, the GOP only wants to eliminate winner take all electoral college votes in a state that will serve them. That's trying to win by cheating. They stacked the deck in Texas for Congressional seats when they did redistricting between census years. This crapola in California has to be stopped.
If only they spent as much time supporting and defending the Constitution as they do trying to figure out (ethically challenged ) ways to get elected...
Bush/Cheney has been trying to crush California starting with the energy war of 2000-2001.

On the call now... Great Job John! Your enthusiasm in your initial statement was perfect for this cause!
Darn! I didn't get to put forward a statement and question..... :(
"The Courage Campaign..."
OMG!!! That's a good one John :)
John, that call was a blast. Totally surreal to be talking to
Josh LymanBrad Whitford.I think we should talk more on strategy right now. Talk to PlanParenthood about how they handled prop 73, and again prop85 in California. I worked on both and I will tell you we just barely defeated the propositions. Also, when I worked the polls as an inspector I noticed most of the elders bringing their mailers. This would list the candidates and the props they should vote on. The voters would just look and punch. I even had to assist one elder who could not read the screen with her vote. She was voting totally opposite of me BTW. I did help her honestly and it was very painful.
My point is get the nurses union, get the teachers union, get PlanParenthood, get some mailers. This is a way to stop this if the initiative get on the June ballot in California.
Note to John: I would suggest that you also could get people connected here too. Maybe a post on C&L dedicated to getting people connected with others here in California. One thing I know as a volunteer. It is a lot easier job if you have others to do it with!
We could have a chat night in video chat over at my "Stickam dot com" page; http://www.stickam.com/profile/theprimtv1
It really take a rally of the citizens if we have to fight something like this!
and that is my "25 Cents" (it has gone up because of inflation)
:)

Thanks for the creativity Curt. It's a nice break from the usual.
Great conference Call. My only question was.. man it seems like a tough uphill battle to now say we as progressives are against electoral college reform whereas after the 2000 election we all wanted to count the popular vote. This timing of this thing is a dirty trick no doubt and I don't trust anything backed by these repugs but it seems awfully confusing to say we were for it before we were against it etc.
I think a more effective, easier, and possibly more likely of success would be to explain to the average Californian and American that these Officials are guilty of Treason and High Crimes & Misdemeanors and should be brought up on charges of Impeachment. The evidence is clearly there for anyone willing to look and organizing it coherently would be the only real challenge besides convincing those in the judicial branch, Nancy Pelosi, etc to move forward on it.
Just a thought. But we need to win this battle. Because they seem to have our number on the dirty tricks game.

I do not lack energy...lol
First of all, the republicans aren't the only ones with issues about the global warming issue. Everyone wants to mislabel things...thinkers understand there IS a global warming issue but it is NOT human made. Mars and Venus are heating up also. It is a Solar cycle that has occured many times in history. We NEED CO2, it will help us have better crops for our expanding population. Do your homework, don't be fooled again. By blaming us the elite cabals that run the show can tax the snot out of us and control us even further. Don't become environmental nazis.
Secondly, there is NO real difference between the Democrats and the Republicans. If there was we wouldn't have troops in the sand because a real balanced congress would have cut the funding years ago. They are two wings of the same bird. When you don't do your homework on issues and allow others to set your agenda you become the "sheeple" we all talk about.
Hey, just wanted to post the link to the site Bradley Whitford spoke about in the video. I had a hard time finding it and thought I would share it with you all;

What would be wrong with a competing bill in California that a person has a first choice vote and second choice vote.
That if the first choice fails the person now has their vote counted for the second choice. Calif best not mess this up................
I agree with you Bradley. There is no hope for this country if the Republicans get away with stealing a third election, and I truly fear for the future of my children as well. The only way the repukes win is by cheating, lying, and ramping up their propaganda. The thing is the republicans don't even care that they're lying immoral hypocrites. They believe they're entitled, that it's their God given right to rule. Therefore, so what if you have to break a few rules. We try to act like a civilized country and allow the judiciary to do it's work, but apparently we can't even count on that anymore. Maybe we're beyond dealing with this is a civilized manner, and coming closer to an all out revolution. Gee, I wonder if I can get arrested for saying that.
