Hillary Clinton to appear on 'The Daily Show'
By John Amato Thursday Feb 28, 2008 7:01pmNEW YORK, February 29, 2008 -- Senator Hillary Clinton will make an appearance as a guest on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Monday, March 3 at 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT). This will mark the Senator's second appearance on "The Daily Show," but her first since announcing her candidacy for the Democratic nomination. Clinton previously appeared as a guest on the show on October 8, 2003.
That should be pretty interesting...

Just in time for the Texas and Ohio Primaries... funny that..
Is Jon Stewart a Hillary supporter?
A post on HuffPo and now Jon Stewart. Why is she pushing so much on the left just before Ohio and Texas? Is this to counteract the "3:00 a.m." ad?
Oh! The day before her next defeat!
Smells like Teen Spirit

Who cares? Hillary is toast.
Smells like Teen Spirit
Any word from the Daily Show about which of the Hillarys they booked?
Or maybe it will be a group appearance, including (which credit to Maureen Dowd) the Experienced Hillary, Soft Hillary, Hard Hillary, Misty Hillary, Sarcastic Hillary, Joined-at-the-Hip-to-Bill Hillary, Her-Own-Person-Who-Just-Happens-to-Be-Married-to-a-Former-President Hillary, It’s-My-Turn Hillary, Cuddly Hillary, Let’s-Get-Down-in-the-Dirt-and-Fight-Like-Dogs Hillary.
Methinks, in terms of the election, it really doesn't matter, but of entertainment sake, I hope Jon Stewart takes attendance. lol
Maybe she'll cry again... over something other than her trainwreck of a candidacy.
Maybe SNL can do a skit starring a Hillary impersonator called, "All About Eve."
fiver @ 2:
What's Hillary doing up at 3:00am fully dressed in that ad? Keeping an eye on Bill I guess.

As long as Oprabama can still dance with Ellen, America is safe.
It doesn't matter. Contemporary TV makes all of the candidates look like idiots 95% of the time.

And here i was thinking that it was as long as Ab Farts could mangle a person's name.

I don't see why anyone in Ohio would vote for Hillary, NAFTA has hurt that state like no other.
Volum @ 19:
Shy?
MSNBC is running the debate again tonight. What Clinton is trying to do is get her face out there to get the name recognition up. The legislation our lawmakers should be working on is to have these debates on the local channels so the candidates can speak to those that don't have cable. I still back Obama but I have a choice, where many don't ever hear or see enough to make an educated decision.
( insert retarded and not funny anti-hillary joke here made by dumbasses who think that any of these candidates give one fuck about any of us, and will also make one difference in this world )
I know Obama promised Colbert to go on his show to have a "grit-off" stemming from Stephens failed SC bid. This was just before the strike but never happened because Obama refused to cross the picket line. Any new word on when he is suppose to be on?

Bush managed to make a difference.

Bush sure changed things and had a DIRECT impact on where we are today.
Why doesn't the 3:00am Clinton ad get a C & L mention. Ad is over the top.
Clinton: "Be wery wery quiet, we're hunting youth vote."
Well he's had David Frum and Bill Kristol on, so why not Hillary.
who got bumped?
Jon is going to eat her alive. This is the biggest mistake she can possibly make. The Daily Show Audience is, I'll warrant, almost 100% Obama fans. Everything that Hillary has been doing and stands for is ripe for mocking.
NishNish @ 32:
Yeah, but did you see the Obama ad his campaign already issued in response? Amazing how quickly they reacted. I'm getting excited about having a presidential candidate who doesn't lay down and die when they're attacked.
slippytoad @ 36:
the audience is 100% Obama fans, and the host is 100% strike-breaking scab. yet both candidates want the support of audience and host. this ain't everything that's wrong with the Democratic Party, but it sure explains a lot.
slippytoad @ 36:
I doubt it. It's beyond me why TDS would deliberately give known scumbags (Bill Kristol) a platform to speak on national TV. But they have been on as guests and Jon just laughs to ease the tension when he should be using the time to ask every question that the rest of the media is too cowardly to ask, driving the point home that these guests are in fact, total scum.
Of course, if the TDS audience was as progressive as they themselves think, they would be supporting Mike Gravel for president instead of these two corporate-approved candidates. Hope? Change? Mere buzzwords.
Stewart is on record for saying he respects all 3 candidates in the running.
McDuff @ 1:
based on his comments, i believe he supports obama over clinton.
that @ 39:
I don't even think Jon himself is as progressive as a lot of people think.
I seem to remember the topic of experience and Hillary's service as First Lady coming up on TDS before the strike. It may not be an exact quote, but I believe Jon asked: "Are they counting that?"
L.A. Confidential @ 29:
Shit he works 4 days a week and seems to get every other week off and get to schmooz with the stars.
But then again he has to talk to people like William "The Bloody" Krystal.
Probably not worth it.
slippytoad @ 36:
Jon is a suck up. He sucks up to Bill Kristol regularly. He feels obligated to be polite to his guests, and tries to pretend he is not biased.
Jon Stewart will be respectful and crack a couple funnies but will not make her look stupid. Shit, he was even respectful to Lynn Cheney. I was disgusted. And so were you.
abarts @ 30:
Sorry, but mangling Obama's name when he is already being smeared and called Hussien (for fear tactic reasons) is not going to get a chuckle out of me.
I think it's a smart thing for her to go on The Daily Show.I know I'll watch.

I'm supporting Obama but I am SO SICK of people getting on her case for her laugh. Mocking someone's laugh is the petty sort of shit that should be left to morons who think making an anti-Hillary group called C. U. N. T. is clever as hell.
As much as Hillary is trashed, it almost makes me want to vote for her. But I think Obama has a better chance of winning the general election so I'm going with him. I have no earthly idea why Democrats bicker so much over these two candidates. They're practically identical on every issue.
So dame what
bethy @ 64:
Hillary is only trashed because she puts herself in position to be just that. She has allowed American people to think just like you do and go the other way. We don't have time for this kind of crap. We really do need someone to take office and be ready on day one and that is simply not her ass.
bethy @ 64:
She isn't being mocked for her laugh. She's being mocked for faking a laugh - poorly.
What I am "SO SICK" of are those who try to twist every Clinton critique into some twisted misogynistic irrationality. Believe it or not, commenting on someone's phony laugh is different from calling someone that "acronym."
Hillary could appear on Playboy TV and she'd STILL lose!
She's just desperate. She hasn't got a chance. Obama will beat her once and for all in Texas and Ohio this coming Tuesday. Hillary is over with.
Please Clinton Haters give her break. You may not support her but that doesn't mean you start abusing as soon as her name is mentioned. They may some repugs in here pretending to be Dems. I do strongly believe this to be so.
There are too many unknowns to count Hillary out. She has benefited greatly by the ferocity of the Bush and McCain attacks against Obama this week. Also, the press has been generally kind to her recently, and most of the talking heads now seem to buy her low expectations argument. Wasn't it just last week that there was concensus that Clinton had to win by huge margins in both states to be still viable? Now it seems that a popular vote loss in one state and a squeaker in another is a victory and reason to go to the convention regardless of the delegate gain. Where'd that come from?
Well it will probably be funny. It will probably be at least a LITTLE sycophantic. But the $64,000 question is... Will it be on BitTorrent?
I think from watching some of the super delegates move... then predicting that more would move... then realising they wouldn't.
Agent Provocateur @ 27:
How "fair and balanced" it would be if Obama appeared on Monday's Colbert Report.
Don't know if this was posted.....

The comments on here are so anti-Hillary, on every posting.
It's getting really old and tiresome.
If B.Obama gets the nomination, we will be voting for him.
Can YOU say the same if Hillary gets it? I doubt it.
It will be sour grapes and you'll all go hide somewhere and pout.
Oregon democrat @ 76:
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I would NOT vote for Hillary.
Votes have consequences. Case in point: the vote to authorize force in Iraq.
If I vote for Hillary, in effect, I'm voting for more war, for the use of cluster bombs, for abuse of our civil liberties, etc etc. etc.
I want to be able to sleep at night.
If she's the nominee, I'll vote Libertarian.
Oregon democrat @ 76:
It was already old and tiresome in the 90's, and here it is again in the self-described "liberal" blogosphere (ok, the comments section). Which to me, doesn't make sense.
It's the same tired shit as the old "Al Gore is Fat" jokes, or re-hashed Lewinsky jokes that even Jay Leno stopped telling seven years ago.
Hate on someone for their policies, but spewing your Dittohead style comments about her "cackle" or for "politically convenient tears" or using the term "slick willy", shows you're just as stupid, confused and misdirected as they want you to be.
ezpz @ 77:

Volum @ 79:

Volum @ 78:
Volum @ 79:
Classy. About as classy as the straw man "comments" you list @ 78. The only time "cackle," "politically convenient tears," or "slick willy" has been used on this thread was by you. One comment on a phony laugh is about as close as you could get. But left wing criticism is the same as that from the right, huh? Rush Limbaugh burns straw men exactly the same way you just did, but we're the "Dittoheads." Get some new talking points, people are seeing through this B.S., and your candidate, thankfully, appears to be going down in flames.
Oregon democrat,
No, I won't vote for Hillary if she is the nominee. Not because I'm pouting (although I certainly am; my candidate was Edwards), but because I feel that HRC has been far too tied to corporate interests for decades and is a war monger / fear monger rivaling both Bush and McCain. I feel Mark Penn is a newer version of Karl Rove and have watched the Clinton campaign mimic the Bushes at every opportunity. Though I have my doubts about Obama, with Hillary I am certain: her presidency would be a disaster for a country already in serious trouble.
This hardly means I'll be sitting on the sidelines if Hillary is the Democratic nominee. As it appears the only way she can secure the nomination at this point is through political machinations reminiscent of Florida in 2000 (e.g. anointed by the super-delegates as Bush was by the Court; seating "her" FL and MI delegates despite previous agreements; etc.), I feel that her appointment, should it occur, as the nominee for the Democratic Party could result in a sudden viability of the Nader campaign - at least that is my hope.
Jon Stewart is an Obama supporter. He made that clear in his interview with Larry King. I was disappointed probably because I am a Clinton supporter but also because, oh never mind. I almost forgot which blog I'm on.
Anyway, why is Hillary Clinton doing this? Because she has the heart of a lioness and does not fear her detractors. She even posted on Huffpo, an unashamedly pro-Obama blog. Bitch all you want about her but at least she is confident enough about her positions that she is willing to present and defend them to people who oppose them. You won't hear Obama on Taylor Marsh's radio show.
Reporters did not run out in droves to ask white politicians to reject Don Imus after he made his remarks about the black female basketball players at Rutgers University. White politicians did not eagerly line up to do so. Nor did they repudiate fellow white politicians who did not. A few, and only a few, said they would no longer go on the Imus show. (Tim Russert, who appeared often on the Imus show, was not among those who said they would no longer be a guest.)
Nor have any of them ran out in droves to ask white politicians to reject O'Riley for his murderous comments about Senator Obama's wife last week.
Why is it that blacks are always held to different standards? What ever Farracon said a long time ago has nothing to do with other blacks and if I am not mistaken, he has come out and offered an apology for the statements, on many different times, never the lest he made some kind remarks about Senator Obama and he should not have been put in the uncomfortable position of having to slap a man that only made a decent comment about him, just as others have done. It is wrong
#76: "Can YOU say the same if Hillary gets it? I doubt it. It will be sour grapes and you’ll all go hide somewhere and pout."
I now can't honestly say what I'll do. It will be one of those "lesser of two evil" choices and personally, I don't think this country will survive another 4 to 8 years of government in paralysis, which is what electing either Clinton or McCain will maintain. Hell, perhaps electing Obama would bring the same paralysis, but at least it would be somewhat different.
slippytoad @ 37:
He won't do jack shit. He rips these people when they aren't on, when they are on? Not so much. He kisses their asses, and he'll kiss hers too. He isn't a reporter, he's a comedian. She'll get a good ol' butt buffering. Perfect little push for more votes. Just before every primary, that "anti-Hillary" media seems to go out of it's way to help her.
liberalista @ 82:
Going on a comedy show ,takes heart and confidence?? I don't think so. That is the softest avenue a politician can take. Taylor Marsh? A rabid, sexist Hillary cheerleader. You think Obama has any need for her show? She's attacked him more than any Repub ever would, and comments on her website show that clearly the biggest fanbase she has are high school girls. They don't vote.
Oregon democrat @ 76:
She won't unless it's bought for her by the DLC. People can lie about how they are going to vote all they want, but the truth? Usually 40% or less of eligible voters actually cast a ballot. The US is the laziest democracy in the world.
yeah.... the posts here are anit hillary.... i guess its kinda cool now to be anti hillary.. you know in that redneck insecure way men think its cool to hate cats. yeah hillary has several parts to her personality... the best humans do... a world of monotone people with only one facet to their personna would be nightmarishly boring.... much like being stuck in a room with most of the people who comment here....... for ever. i respect hillary.. .i think she is judged by a double standard and i think she would have been a great "first woman" president. i think she has the balls to wield the office properly. but.... and its a mighty big but..... it will be good not to have the baggage. it will be good not to have the 1960's and the 1990's wars again.... hill and mccain represent both of those things. its time for the break with the past. the end of history. i think she will be great on the daily show. i also think that obama will be the candidate. i voted for hillary... but i will happily vote for obama too. hillary haters have all been mindfucked by almost two decades of demonizing by the right. rush limbaugh has worked on our society. i wish someone would shoot him in the face.
Anti-Hillary is what the "cool" kids do. Somehow the idea that one of the two candidates for President from the Democratic Party would actually get to be on television is a surprise?
I too, sadly, believe she's toast. I sadly will then have to vote for a Green candidate because I will never vote for Obama. I saw this kind of mindnumbing irrational cult of personality a few years ago. It was for GeeDubayew. Not any prettier when Democrats do it.
Hope you are all happy with your MEDIA selected nominee.
kenoshaMarge @ 89:
We will be. As for your vote for the Greens, that's your voluntary choice, not a requirement. And comparing Obama supporters to W supporters is utter nonsense.
The biggest problem that I see with your candidate is their win at all cost mentality. For example, they now want the TX caucus results withheld until the morning after the election because they think it will be damaging to them. Funny how they didn't complain when Bill won there in the 90"s. And they want the DNC to change the rules to certify the delegates in MI and FL, whose state parties knowingly violated the primary date rules. I don't have time to vote for people like the Clintons whose attitude is the rules were made for everybody but us. In that respect, they ARE just like W and the Republicans.
Thanks for your service in the 90's Hillary and Bill, but America doesn't owe you one, you have to earn your respect with the voters like everybody else does.
I hope Jon Stewart grills her about her corporatist allegiances and her trying to out-hawk the hawks. If she raises the issue of experience, I hope he prepared to pull up a screen of her versus Obama's senate records of votes and bills sponsored or co-sponsored.
She's going to have to pull a rabit out of her hat.
All these is Bush's fault! People are so disappointed on George Bush's foreign policies that they are willing to put the nation in danger by voting for Obama. He might have good intentions but no experience. People! Use your brains! Vote for Hillary!
Expect nothing from Jon Stewart. Love the show, but his interviews are incredibly lame. He'll lob her some softballs, she'll attempt to look like a real human being and that will be that.
Paul @ 91:
He won't, but maybe he can ask her about this fine:
http://www6.comcast.net/news/articles/politics/2008/01/08/POLITICS-USA-P...
Most disturbing news yesterday: When people view the recent Hillary campaign ad (3 am phone call, child sleeping in bed), it isn't until half-way into the ad that most people realize it isn't a John McCain ad. Frightening, isn't it?
John Stewart should grill her about that ad and all the ammo she's providing the Republicans in the event Obama is the nominee. Didn't HRC admit at one time to being in her youth a "Goldwater Girl" or did I imagine reading that somewhere?
tell that's Clinton to be quiet
why is she still so defiant!

‘72 McGovern Team Rallies for One of Its Own: Clinton
By JULIE BOSMAN
Published: March 2, 2008
AUSTIN, Tex. — Frank Herrera, a prominent lawyer in Texas, was sitting at home two Saturdays ago when he received a telephone call.
The voice at the end of the line was that of an old friend from Senator George McGovern’s 1972 presidential campaign, who had since become the godfather, at least to some, of the Democratic Party.
“ ‘We’ve been with you all these years,’ ” Bill Clinton said, according to Mr. Herrera. “ ‘Now the time has come for you to be with us.’ ”
Mr. Herrera, who had up to that point been undecided in the Democratic race, promptly pledged his support to the Clintons.
“The don never asks for a second favor when the first one has been rejected,” he said.

Why does anyone approve of any of these moronic Limbaugh-style name alterations? I saw a list on another thread here of like 200 variations on "McCain".
Does anyone really think saying something like "McLame" gets across any kind of meaningful message? Even if its just meant to be funny, its only possibly funny to the couple hundred political junkies who actually read these comments, and makes a mockery of any real message trying to be conveyed.
Can't we on the left do better than name calling?
kevin @ 88:
Ever stop to consider that you may like Clinton over Obama for the same kinds of reasons people like Obama and not Clinton (by way of policy/decisions and not gender/race)? By your logic I'm brainwashed and hate cats or something for preferring him over her, but not vice-versa.
Who cares...hillary is a scumbag criminal who belongs in prison.
Enough Hillary bashing please. This is unbelievable. Not being an American, I am watching Americans' attempt at breaking Hillary Clinton with utter dismay. Where is your memory people? When Bill Clinton was in the White House, your country ran an enormous economic surplus and had the respect of the nations of the world. In spite of all the scandals and dirty the republicans tried to heap on Bill Clinton, the president of the US received standing ovations when he walked into world conferences. You have a chance of getting back some of the blessings of the Clinton years and all you can think of is to rip Hillary, who is an astoundedly intelligent and resilient politician. You should be proud of her and of your country and show respect. As to Maureen Dowd, one wonders how she ever made it to the Oped pages of the New York Times, I have yet to read one piece from her that shows true information, reflection and analysis. her treatment of Hiilary Clinton is an absolute disgrace.
lanshih: Thank you for that thoughtful and positive post.
I have long realized that the online supporters of Senator Obama are for the most part uninformed foul mouthed bigots who have nothing positive to say. If they disagree with Senator Clinton they should simply say what their disagreements are, but since they are again for the most part uninformed they would not be able to say.
Degrading Madeleine Albright demonstrates their complete absence of reflective thought.
It simply is too easy to say "I DON'T LIKE HER".
lanshih @ 101:
I would love to hear how more people outside the US view this election. I was in grad school during the '00 election. It was wonderful to have my Chinese friends so interested in the process. They did want to know "how many men does he command?" of several of the candidates - LOL.
