UPDATE: Sarah Palin is stepping down as Governor of Alaska. Details here.

Quick! Someone alert the Red State Army Strike Force! Republican backstabber on Aisle 26 of Fox News!

We mentioned the other day that, if nothing else, the recent Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin made clear that the Beltway Villagers' view of Sarah Palin is "road kill in the rear-view mirror".

Charles Krauthammer on Fox the other day drove that point home by completely dismissing her as a potential candidate:

Krauthammer: Now, as to Palin, I agree entirely with what Mara [Liasson] said -- she is, she has star power without any doubt, she has an extremely devoted following, but she is not a serious candidate for the presidency.

She had to go home and study and spend a lot of the time on issues with which she was not adept last year. And she hasn't.

She has to stop speaking in cliches and platitudes. It won't work. It could work for eight weeks if you're the No. 2 candidate, as she was last year. But even so, she got singed a lot in that campaign. You cannot sustain a campaign of platitudes and clichés over a year and a half if you’re running for the presidency.

Interestingly, even Allahpundit at HotAir was inclined to agree.

Surely the RedState Strike Force, as the action wing of "Operation Leper", will be descending upon these hapless backstabbers in short order.

Hey, whatever happened to "Operation Leper" anyway?

and people are talking all about the resignation!

PALIN QUITS!

I believe he is one quarter snapping turtle from his mothers side of the family.

Krauthammer comes from a very long line of cabbage bangers!

I've been listening to Palin's resignation speech, and I can't make head nor tails out of what the hell she's saying!

Bizare-o world!

She's talking about not wanting to do "that lame-duck thing", about "time to pass the ball so our team can win", about the world "needing more Trip's, not fewer"...she's just all over the place!

Whoa.

...the PERFECT talking head on FOX!! She admits to needing money. FOX has oodles. They already have Huckaberry. She'd be perfect.

If you decode the resignation speech it said...

1. I can't run this state
2. The media is more powerful than me
3. I will become a lobbyist or fundraiser
4. I can't adapt to change
5. I am a quitter

...all that makes her the PERFECT talking head on FOX! Sheesh. Look at who they have now! Not a "saint" in the crowd.

I'm watching it too. It's too funny. Those loons on the lake behind her sound like they're heckling her.

in a while. Oh wait, the last time was Mark Sanford rambling. Republicans do it very well, don't they?

of Mark for getting all of the attention lately.

nt

.

TPM just put the video up and it is worth watching. Any casual Sarah watcher will notice a remarked 'strain' in her voice. Perhaps, as some have suggested, there is another shoe to fall.

What I loved most though was that KTUU cameraman scanned the applauding crowd! At the very end of the clip an unknown (to me at least) is man clapping who appears not to want to be filmed even being there. It would be interesting to know who he is.

or is it mccain when he 'suspended' his campaign?

Considering this dirtbag's record looks like Palin has a good shot in 12.

has to do is ask, "Mrs. Palin, if you get bored with the Presidency, will you just up and walk away like you did the Alaskan Governorship?

That's all she wrote. If she had even the slightest chance before, it's gone now. But then again, it is America. No matter how unqualified you are for the Presidency, you can still get elected.

Don't worry, we'll still have Sarah Palin to kick around. The woman is a modern day Chauncey Gardner. There will be a lot of pressure for her to run in 2012. I hope she does. She's a gift to the Democrats that just keeps on giving.

The whining FOXies are lamenting how the big, bad, nasty liberal critics finally broke her camels back and pushed her out!

YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP!!!

P.S. I expect her to be hired by FOX as a commentator very soon.

EXACTLY. They got the money and now she has the time. All politicians are whores, so...?

When Palin was making her statements about not wanting to be a lame duck, there were actual water birds (ducks? geese? perhaps loons?) quacking away in the lake behind her. I guess it was some sort of puzzle -- How many loons can you see in this picture. Her campaign staff (and you KNOW this is the beginning of a campaign) has to do a better job of vetting her venues. I mean, come on, after the famous Turkey Farm incident...

I don't know what kind of birds they are, but your comment gave me a big laugh!

After the invasion of Iraq he said.

"The only people who think this wasn't a victory, are Upper West Side liberals and a few people here in Washington."

Why is he still on my teevee after being so completely wrong about SO MANY things.

Doesn't that make her a quitter?
Why should anyone vote for a quitter as President of the U.S.?

Not me, says I.

It used to seem strange to me that people could insist there are no class issues in this country *and* condemn their political opponents as "elites".

I finally came to understand that they use the word without regard to social class, or wealth, or any of the things that actually define the word. When they say, "elite", they mean "readers" or "artists" or "people who question our platitudes".

In their world, a fat, pampered clown like Fred Barnes is a real man, and my diesel mechanic grandpa is an "elite". It's hilarious.

He's not a serious journalist .....so he should know!

The "librul" media was so unfair to ask her questions that her dumb ass couldn't answer coherently....sheesh,praise jeebus these people make me sick...liberals are the "whiners"? I wish these people would just go away forever

Was I the only one who thought Palin sounded like a malfunctioning GOP talking points/sports metaphor spewing robot during her resignation speech?

So this is why they fight for free health care ?

I don't like Krauthammer, but he ain't wrong on this one.

And once again, I quote my favorite line from "Die Hard":

"...And the quarterback IS toast!"

What amazed me during the campaign is the kind of people that would show up at her rallies. People that LOOKED like decent, hard-working Americans, but there was an ugliness to those crowds...white power, many were neo-Nazi types, racist, unable to grasp the fact that a black man actually had a chance of becoming president. And she played those people like a Stradivarius, whipping them up into a fervor. All for her own political gain and ego. She didn't give a shit about McCain, it was all Sarah, all the time. I think it eventually frightened McCain, and I think the campaign had to rein her in and tell her to shut her yap, but it was too late.

She is a self-serving beeyatch and that is all she will ever be.

"While Ayers may have had a direct heads up as to Palin's intentions, he wasn't entirely on cue with the Governor's talking points. Asked why Palin was stepping down as opposed to finishing her term (which ends in 2010), the RGA header sited pesky bloggers and activists as the reason. Palin had insisted she didn't want to put Alaskans through two years of a lame-duck governorship." ;)

PS. Keep the light on!

She is not a white male, over the age of sixty, with grey hair, a pot belly and a strong hatred for the poor, the elderly, the disabled, and anyone else who is not a millionaire.

Inside info on Palin.

But she is weak among every other American, including moderate republicans. Except for these narrow minded Americans who love Limbaugh and can't see anything beyond their nose, she is seen as an idiot, pathetic weak candidate. And she is surrounded by these guys who won't let her see the reality: No chance for you, dumbo.

But

The republican party has made it the last thirty years on platitudes and clich'es. Would you like to walk through a few of them?
Tree huggers, Bleeding heart liberals, socialized medicine, My favorite one, the party of family values! Boy that one is a big laugh.
Big government, the moral majority.(not moral and not a majority), christian right. Those are just a few of the crap lines they have used on the suckers of our country. The facts are, republicanism is a mental illness!
