Mark Levin is happy now that he's got a bestseller decrying the tyranny certain to descend upon America under liberal rule, which Sean Hannity touted on his Fox News show last night. The appearance produced some plum bon mots fresh from Planet Wingnuttia:

Levin: What's going on in this country is really anti-liberty. The president is -- you know, they just put Bernie Madoff away for life. The president's policies are Bernie Madoff times a thousand. He is taking a wrecking ball to this society.

Levin evidently seems to have conveniently forgotten that Bernie Madoff was an exemplar of the laissez-faire capitalism practiced by Republicans generally and George W. Bush particularly. This is essentially accusing the person in charge of cleaning up after a demolition with having wielded the wrecking ball in the first place.

Levin also keeps referring throughout to Obama and his policies as "something foreign" and claims that he's undermining the Constitution.

Levin also claims that Obama "wants to destroy the health-care system that most of us like."

Oh really? That must be so, if your definition of "most of us" is "less than 15 percent of the population".

I suspect "us" for Levin and Hannity is their little claque of right-wing pundits and wealthy Republicans, as well as Levin's perfervid readers who've been just as eagerly drinking the Limbaugh/Beck Kool Aid.

He wraps up with this classic bit of wingnuttery:

Levin: This president has some very bizarre and alien viewpoints, ah, that were -- that, that were, you know, he was indoctrinated with, and now that I believe that he really believes in, and advances. He is a -- he is about as left wing and about as radical as anybody ever to be in the Oval Office.

Hoo boy. Talk about bizarre and alien. It must be quite the interesting view, out there on Planet Wingnuttia.

"He is a -- he is about as left wing and about as radical as anybody ever to be in the Oval Office."

So?

(and, before I forget . . . Fuck you, Dick Cheney!)

Levin...another Limbaugh lackey and wannabe.

Nothing to say, nothing to hear.

Nu? So you expect logic.

But here's my question: Do any of these nutbags ever give one example of how their liberties are being snatched? Seriously, has anyone ever heard any specifics of what liberties are gone? Ok, so it's a rhetorical question to a degree, but do they even try to support their ludicrous claims?

Neither side of the media has a good habit of backing up their claims.

Well that's not true.

Quite a while ago, I heard the then President G.W. Bush disparage Hugo Chavez and Venezuela for impairing liberties. What struck me was that Bush wasn't concerned with freedom of speech and so forth. The liberty he was concerned with is "lazier faire" capitalism.

I think that's also what the foreign owned Fox News is railing about when they say Obama is imposing "facism", when he isn't imposing "socalism". It's a concern about the liberty to conduct "lazier faire" capitalism, and a belief that these economic activities should be conducted unrestrained, regardless of any adverse effect on society.

)O(

Laissez Faire

Or as I call their true-believers

Laissez Fairies.

Unfortunately the sheeple who worship Faux News don't seem to notice.

How about my right as a GM stockholder to hire and fire the executives of the firm??

How about my rights as a property owner that was taken away by the liberal Supreme Court justices in the Kelo case???

How about my rights under contract law to the terms of the contract not being voided by the President in a back room deal with the UAW when they simply took the bonds I held and gave them to the Union??

How about my rights to FREELY practice my religion??

How about the absolute destruction of the 9th and 10th amendments and the reversal of the meanings of the 1st and 2nd amendments???

1, who's stopping you from practicing your faith? No one.
Kelo case? I'm not familiar with that one. But please tell which year?
The rest, Think Boosh.

The SCOTUS has been in GOP hands forever.

Do you even know what the 10th amendment says??

The 1st and second amendments - specifically the rights of FREE practice of religion has been turned to mean freedom FROM religion.

Did you know that when the Constitution - and AFTER, there were religious REQUIREMENTS to hold office in many states??? The founders had no problems with that!

Did you know Thomas Jefferson used FEDERAL money to fund missionaries to the American Indians??? He didn't have a problem with that!

Yet today a student - even if acting independently from the school - cannot mention the Christian God in commencement exercises without bringing out the lawsuit whores of the ACLU. Free exercise mean WITHOUT restriction. Preventing a student- or anyone from practicing a MAJOR tenet of his religion simply because it happens to take place on public property is exactly counter to the first amendment.

The 2nd amendment was DESIGNED to keep Government in check, so how could that be construed to mean ONLY government organizations can possess guns - as many on the left argue. There have been many encroachments on this and recently some giving back of this right, but it is indeed threatened.

The 10th amendment states that the federal government is RESTRICTED from doing anything not specifically allowed in the Constitution, yet we now accept all kinds of encroachments that the liberals (from both parties) have thrust upon us.

The 9th amendment states that the PEOPLE hold the rights and just because some rights are specifically mentioned, does not mean that those not specifically mentioned don't exist. This has been rapidly eroded by liberals in favor of the government having power and groups having power, not individuals.

I forgot, the KELO case was the case recently decided (three years ago??)where a government entity can take private property not only for public use, but also to give (sell) to another private interest if they think that other private party will bring in more tax revenue.

Republicans have indeed appointed many of the justices, but they were still LIBERALS.

You are a moron

The GM deal and the Chrysler bond theft were DIRECTLY the result of Obama's takeover of the Auto industry.

you are crack pot

I wondered if the birds in my backyard would willingly build a nest with the perfectly good paper between the cover.

Mitch, I think I'll start a betting pool on how long it takes this appalling waste of trees to end up in the remainder bin. I'm betting 6 weeks (and I'm being very charitable to Mr. Levin with that prediction)

You can usually tell how much a book like that is really worth when it re-sells on Ebay. In 2005 O'Neil's book "Unfit for Command" was selling on Ebay for about thirty five cents. I can only conclude that the paper was too scratchy to use as toilet paper, and the cat refused to use the literbox unless it got some better material to take a dump on.

Ann Coulter's book could be boiled and fed to the shoppers at the 99 cent store to implant a Walmart buying spree of red Chinese goods into their dreams.

Sometimes I think it's not even worth the effort to argue with these deluded assholes. They're going to believe that Barack Obama is Hitler/Stalin/Mao all rolled into one and nothing is going to convince them otherwise. It's not that guys like Levin, Hannity, Limbaugh, et al believe the shit that they say. that's not the point. The point is there are lots and lots of ignorant knuckledraggers who faithfully tune in everyday to hear this crap. It's all about ratings and the all mighty advertising revenue.

that they can't explain Hitler/Stalin/Mao political theories beyond buzzwords like "Socialism! Communism!" But dumb people repeat it and consider themselves informed and "in the know."

I love watching the rightwing nutjobs lose touch with reality. It's like they know the ship is sinking and everyone claims to be captain.

, only humans allowed in the life boats , repugs are to be keelhauled or placed in the bilge .

Not that anybody didn't see all this coming. During the reign of Bush conservatives demanded absolute loyalty to Bush. We were, after all, in two wars and facing the threat of terror. We had to watch what we say and to ensure liberty our government needed the Patriot Act to spy on its citizens.

So no surprise a day after the election all that would change. The Republicans would revert to the 16 years of Clinton bashing but redirect it towards Obama. In the minority they'll obstruct after they've called for for straight up and down votes and a removal of the filibuster when they've been in charge.

Republicans are a broken record. When they achieve a majority again they'll go back to a demand for complete obedience to the President and try to quell any dissent as unpatriotic. The media, of course, will go back to shilling for the Republicans, actually they have never stopped.

Ike's party anyway? When he left office he warned of the military industrial complex, and now the Republican party is nothing more then the political arm of just about every corporate interest out there. Not only is the whore of the military industrial complex, but it's the whore of just about every other industrial complex on top of that.

Nixon was Ike's VP. He did a pretty good job of running the GOP of years past into the ground. Reagan then resurrected the GOP under a more conservative bent, emphasizing deregulation. An early symptom was the savings and loan crisis during Reagan's tenure, but we didn't learn from our mistakes.

As far as I can see, the current GOP doesn't resemble in the slightest, Ike's GOP, since they rely on economic ideology entirely, and reject economic data in formulating policy, and have a much greater fundamentalist influence into the politics.

That's why we see people like Arlen Specter fleeing to the Democrats. The GOP is not recognizable from years past.

I suppose the question at this point is how much the Democrat party has evolved into the former GOP party?

Ever think of what got the Republicans to adopt the Elephant as a mascot anyway?

Hint; Beware that what you forget might be that which you become.

Actually, the Dems are more in bed with the Corporations. Did you ever think about which companies are better able to absorb the cost of regulations??? The BIG companies. Both parties have betrayed interest of the people, in favor of the large corporations - just the Democrats USUALLY more so. Bush reversed that during his terms.

Regulations almost always favor the large corporations over the smaller companies. It is not just because the larger corporations have a hand in writing those regs, it is because of the economies of scale they enjoy.

Small business suffers more at the hand of Democrats than at the hand of conservatives - usually.

There should be very little regulations and they should be very simple.

1) Don't lie

2) Don't steal

3) honor the contracts you agree to.

4) If you cause harm because of negligence, you pay for the damages on a case by case basis.

Enforce the hell out of 'em.

These f*cks are crazy as road rodents. They have nothing to offer but namme calling and fearmongering. They see all the screw ups they have done over the past thirty years of ronnie raygun philosophy and they are fearful that it is gone forever. Screw wingnuts.

Kasinka writes: "These f*cks are crazy as road rodents."

Not that I disagree or anything, but what are road rodents? And how are they crazy?

why they don't like Obama--because he might (might) democratize health insurance, might improve the economy for ordinary people, might cut into those record-breaking corporate profits--because that would make their evil too obvious for even wingnuts. So they have to spout ludicrous warnings about how Obama is the antichrist.
Believe me, if you were to threaten the incomes of Hannity or Levin, their perception of reality would immediately become acute.

You are dead on No One . Where were these scum balls the last eight years as Bush and company systematically destroyed this country in every way possible ? They were cheer leading as it went on . They are absolutely no less than saboteurs and traitors , if I was the great decider a purge would be going on and it would be justified . These people are like a malignant cancer in this country .

about the man whose job it was to clean up the smelly bucketloads of prolific elephant dung.

A passerby, who saw him hip-deep in the excrement, asked, “My good man, how can you put up with such demeaning conditions?

Haven’t you ever thought about another line of work?”

To which the worker replied,

“What—and give up the Presidency.

Obama is cleaning up the large pile of dung left by the elephant's and they are trying to dump on him while he's cleaning up there mess.

It's like the last 8 years never happened.

it's their job.

where is that you tube of the elephant sitting on his stall cleaner .

bipartisanshippy with?

Good grief, talk about abused wife syndrome.

Very few people believe these crazy mother fuckers. I am probably one of Obama's biggest supporters at this site. When I hear dumb bastards like this freak Levin, I know I've made the correct choice.

When it came to propping up and touting CheneyCo. during those 8 nightmare years, this petulent, whining piece of shit Levin was always blathering on about how anyone who disagreed was a traitor and needed to go (blissfully- or willfully- ignorant of the truth, which is that Bush & Pals, who wiped their asses with the Constitution, were the true enemies of the "Real America", i.e. actual traitors). Mark Levin is an obnoxious, hateful, immature cartoon.

Oh, but he is due some back-handed kudos for having absolutely the worst radio voice on the planet.

I called for this years ago! What a slap in the face of the African American community that city with the largest African American percentage of any US city would have it's airport named after St. Ronnie. Not to mention a slap in the face of the air traffic controllers.

I have little doubt the do nothing GOP congress of yesteryear had both slaps in face in mind when they besmirched National Airport.

.

The point is taxes are being raised. In my state we're getting a .05% increase in earned income tax. Sounds small but add it up over a year. That's grilling from steak to chicken. Now they want to tax our health insurance? I'm taxed enough! I get taxed on my cell phone, my gas, my take out, internet use, television, smokes (yes I smoke), alcohol, earnings and winnings, heating my home, garbage collection, watching a movie.............. I don't want anymore taxes. Tax and spend, tax and spend.

"In my state we're getting a .05% increase in earned income tax."

Then I'd suggest you talk to your STATE government about that.

"Now they want to tax our health insurance?"

No, they're talking about setting a (very high) limit on the maximum tax deduction that can be claimed for health insurance. That is NOT the same thing as taxing your health insurance.

I'm no libertarian economist, but as any libertarian economist will tell you, whenever you allow a tax write-off for some service, the price of that service will usually go up, since you're essentially using it to offset your tax burden. Thus, if there is a limit to the amount you can write off for health insurance, it puts pressure on the HMOs to keep their prices down, since there is no OTHER incentive for you to buy THEIR insurance other than the incentive of VALUE for money.

I've tried talking to my Democratic state governor and Democratic controlled state Senate and legislature.

You sound like a big whiner. Instead of whining about how high your taxes are (not particularly high by global standards, I'd imagine), why don't you complain about what you're getting for your taxes.

I doubt if any other country gets less worthwhile for its taxes than the US. And a lot of that can be laid on the doorstep of the Pentagon. Want lower taxes? Have you called and written you representatives demanding that they oppose further spending on the F-22?

Why not turn your whining into action and work to get the oppressive military burden off our shoulders and work for some of the more worthwhile things taxes can pay for -- like universal health care.

And for god's sake, man, quit smoking. That's just dumb!

I apologize if you're offended by the use of the word "whining." It's not meant to insult you. And although I don't smoke, I come from a family of smokers and have watched the horrifying toll smoking has exacted on them. Not only would you save a lot of money now, but you'd probably be saving an incredible amount down the road.

First of all, if the rich and their coporations actually payed taxes on their obscene amounts of wealth, they could lower our taxes.

Taxes are good if they are used for the benefit of society as a whole.
When they go into the "private" sector, all you get is cronyism, corruption, and good ole' GOP fascism, and a very small number of very very rich CEO's.

You are absolutely right about getting little for our dollars. Since the coporate fascists (GOP) took over, they have given all of our money to their corporate welfare buddies, and given the American people nothing but the bill in return.

Our country is our HOME!

Imagine what your house would be like if you didn't invest in it for thirty years and failed to make any repairs? That is what the GOP has done to our country by misappropriating our tax dollars. They have partied like drunken republicans, and squandered all of our money on their own trivialities.

So now we're name calling? We get a lot of waste is what we get. Get rid of the waste instead of raising taxes. Quit spending everything when times are good and we wouldn't need all these taxes.

roll my own ( not pipe stuff ) Bugler went from $1.50 in Jan to $6.00 now , fuck'em I quit (rollies that is) , the state booze stores had a 90 million profit they ( the gov ) striped that and the prices go up next month 15 % b/c they dont have money .
What a fucking scam !

)O(

Starting with ray gunn we had the creation of an elite managerial class that feel entitled to huge compensations, bonuses, golden parachutes, bought and paid for government. ray gunn signed off on the Garn/St Germain bill that created a system wide failure of the S&L industries.

Then the republican led Congress under Clinton, overturned Glass-Steagall overturning decades of protection with their Gramm/Leach/Blaily Act. Clinton probably thought CEO's wouldn't attempt to destroy their own corporations.

But starting primarily with ray gunn we no longer had natural monopolies but the new managerial ones, with business schools teaching untested theories like the Chicago School that ray gunn made his own with "trickle-down" economics. We had the routine slighting of Keynesian economics, and the cocommitant deregulations of industry manned by managers who knew they would get all their perks, even if the company they led failed, and then quickly get another job in the industry.

The capper was when the elites found out that although the individual poor person lacks money, there was still money to be made from them collectively, so new businesses popped up, and/or grew in size: rent-to-own, cheque-cashing, and sub-prime loan mortgages where people were sold homes they couldn't afford on the promise that real estate value would continue to grow. They passed bankruptcy "reform" so they couldn't get out from under their debt. When they couldn't continue what were essentially balloon loans, banks simply took the home back and sold it to some other people also unlikely to afford it. By changing hands repeatedly they maximized their profits until the bottom fell out from under the industry.

They also got rid of state constitutions home owner protection by telling people, "You want the government telling you what to do with your assets?" So even middle-class people voted against these protections, and got involved with getting additional home mortgages under the sub-prime system for economic liquidity. Meanwhile non-traditional players, like the pension plans of your basic working American, got involved with the buying and selling of stocks through banks now authorized to do so under Gramm/Leach/Blaily. Now they too can't get bankruptcy and get foreclosed on.

Meanwhile, there were lower savings rates because of an explosion of cheap credit, so there was an inverse reaction of increased debts, protected, they thought, by their home assets. Additionally, there were technological changes in the stock market allowing people to manipulate the market through excessive speculations with little more than keystrokes.

Now we need to bring reform to the system that were shoved aside for short terms chances at high profitability only to have them called a wrecking-ball.

How can you wreck rubble?

)O(

The technological changes like the buying and selling of stock online not only ballooned the value of the stock, but was responsible for bringing energy to a record high. So you couldn't afford not to work, but also couldn't afford to drive there. You also couldn't afford to heat or cool your home, because you're average home is much bigger than it was 70 years ago.

Then there were deregulations of the insurance and energies market, which is impacting Texas particularly.

That led to higher retail prices where everything and it's components had to be shipped somewhere. The outsourcing of our industrial base certainly didn't help. Archer Daniels Midland and the corn lobby pushing corn based ethanol has also increased the cost of groceries since corn is a core commodity used for feeding livestock, when we're not eating it ourselves in it's proper form, or sweetening our food with it through high fructose corn syrup. It also led to other perishables not being planted in favor of corn.

...sounds like a 'conspiracy' to me...Shh-hhh!

I also like that you used the word concomitant. I used to write memos 'from my boss' (I thought his thoughts for him) to the senior management of the global insurance company I worked for (though at an unrelated subsidiary - we didn't do insurance, we did meetings and golf).

I was chastised on several occasions, by senior executives of this company, for using fancy words in the memos - I gather they had to look them up. One was concomitant, and after their complaints, I tried really hard to work it into every stinkin' thing I wrote that would be forwarded to them. Really, pretty much everything is concomitant?!

)O(

I'm not sure where concomitant came from; it just popped in my head, but I'm glad to hear I used it aright.

And with moving corporate HQ's to other countries like Dubai, dummy corporations, off-shore accounts in Switzerland and other such places, not only do they attempt to escape our taxes, but they take money out of circulation in our country entirely

You know for making loans to other businesses and household borrowers as well.

*Sigh*

Okay, so the Soviet Union is gone, and now the right wing nuts need some new Boogieman to link Democrats to.

Looks like they've elected Saul Aulinsky.

I got into an argument with a right wing nut the other day. He threw out Aulinsky's name. I figured he must be very well read to pull such an obscure figure out of his ass. But now it all makes sense.

Listen to these two fucking fucktards..

What a gaggle of morans.

...anybody ever to be in the Oval Office."

And we all know that radical communists are the norm for the Oval Office.

And yet we don't have a Stalinist dictatorship. How is that possible?

It seems like we've survived other "radical" lefties in the Oval Office, so why should we expect the end of the world now?

This guy is so FOS it's unbelievable, but I searched for his book at my local library (small rural system) and there are 16 holds on it. For such a small library system, that is a lot. At three weeks a check out that's almost a full year's worth of readers. Of course, that is no surprise because there are lots of super Wing Nuts in this area, at least 17 of whom may be able to read.

I for one am glad Obama took over GM, introduced tough regulations, is going to vacation in Martha's Vinyard, and is generally driving these greedy bigoted bastards nuts. It couldn't happen to a nastier bunch of scoundrels as the conservotard rethuglicans that have brought us this painful recession and horrible wars. Fuck them totally.

This would be how the Bush / Cheney administration, its claque of cheerleading pundits and radio talk hosts helped in creating the current economic disaster in which we find ourselves.

That's all they've got left...stirring up the good ole Caucasian paranoia. The message is hidden in a collection of ridiculous code words for the already bigoted and the criminally ignorant who can be easily persuaded. How else can such destruction be performed by a single man in so short a time and be believed?

Im white , can you print me those code words , do I get to wear a secret ring too , ? .

snark off

the only thing more irresponsible than this Levin asshole is Hannity givingf him the airtime to do it.

If you really want to know what's wrong with America, this video clip points that out quite clearly.

I can't see how any moderate or independent would ever be convinced by such nonsense and outright deception. The wingnuts already agreed, so he's just preaching to the choir. Crazy.

Why do all of these men sound like they're a little low on the testosterone, with their high-octave whiny little voices??

I'm betting Markie exercised some of his "liberty" and invested a bunch of his talk-show earnings with Bernie...!!

and maybe I'll jump on board with you. But you're sure as hell not going to convince me of your viewpoint with broad generalizations and mischaracterization.

These insane attacks on Obama seem like some kind of strategy for the anti-American, president hating, teabag bullshit they have planned for the 4th. Today the assorted nuts are increasing the criticisms and attacks for Saturday's corporate media news cycle. They don't cover important huge protests for war and health care but these teabaggers get an abnormal amount of attention on the idiot box, that really pisses me off.

Geared as it is to protecting and promoting the wealth of the very few to the detriment of everyone else, it wouldn't have been a bad thing.

being "indoctrinated", etc, the right wing nuts made that sh*t up, and then they repeat it, as though Obama actually said it about himself. They make the lie, and repeat it enough, and it becomes the truth to them. Just like they claim Al Gore said he invented the internet(s), etc. But don't we do have a quote from a McCain aide giving credit to McCain for inventing the blackberry? Too bad that never got any traction.

that's when Melon-scaife buys 10,000 of your books to put you on the NYTimes list, eh?

just a week ago when he recounted something he'd overheard:

"Liberals are illiterate because whenever a conservative writes a book, it's a bestseller, but when a liberal writes a book, no one reads it."

Isn't he Kermit's evil brother?

If you ever listen to this gas-bag on the radio, and trust me, 10 minutes is about all one can tolerate, he never misses an opportunity to bloviate endlessly about how his ideas are going to save the world based on the volume of books he has sold.

Rush/Levin/Hannity and the rest of the Planet Wingnuttery are only out there to whore their services in the name of conservatism. They will say anything if it means bringing in higher ratings and ultimately more money. Pathetic!

So,

they aagin interview one of their own to push their neocon rightwing corporatist fascist nazi agenda. Is this all they got?

These jackasses have out Orwelled Orwell himself. Everything they claim, is exactly what THEY do. Man I would love to have 5 minutes on one of these shows just to point out how totally and completely full of shit these morons are.

Sounds like another rightwing bestseller that is "flagged" on the N.Y. Times bestseller list. We all know what that means? Mellon-Scaife and other wingnut welfare benefactors have thousands of copies of this idiots insane ramblings in their basement. They will be giving them away on Drudge for a dollar, until it becomes obvious no-one is interested at that price, then they will just simply give them away for free, provided you click on some rightwing website.

then you still have to pay for shipping and handling. High price for toilet paper.

my ex told me her grandfather was so tight , he counted how many tissues they used , her brothers and sisters backed her up .

He was a GAWD fearing man , tighter than bark on a tree . Praise the lawd and pass the bark .

"Destroying the country" or "saving the country" - It's all a matter of whether you want a corrupt corporate theocracy - yuk!, or a nice democracy with a happy middle class - yahoo!

Well said, although this clueless asshole would have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

To understand. All you need to do is look into his eyes. Look into any republicans eyes and see the crazy. You can see thay are insane without a word being spoken. But you owe it to yourself to listen to a few sentences just to make it absolutely clear." These people are truely insane". republicanism is a mental illness!

he has been drunk since Jan 20th

Has bizarre and alien viewpoints? What planet did he come from?I'm so sick of beck, limbaugh and the rest of them that seem to have so much away over the ignorant.

even though they hail from the same cities, schools, and income brackets they denounce as "elitist."

[Comment Deleted By Administration For Violation Of Terms Of Service]
[Comment Deleted By Administration For Violation Of Terms Of Service]

And absolutely no mention of Dumbya, the worst prez in history, that left Obama and this country to clean up his miserable failures?

Look at this pathetic Reslug moron, that sucks himself off every night and then wets his bed.

I heard him and laughed at him but from his sissy voice I always thought he was a she.

Speaking of books, Neal Boortz, the lying,(complete with a yellow-jelly type spine) noted Chickenhawk last book "Someone's Gotta Say It" hit the stands Feb 20,2007. "Krogers" a large grocery chain here in Atlanta, had an ad in their Sunday paper (Feb 18,2007) discounting the book 40% even before it hit the stands!

What a bunch of fucking bullshit. I have friends who are mad at Obama because he isn't LEFT enough! Give me a break. I really think that FOX news is a treasonist network. What a bunch of nutjobs. Do they actually think they are doing something good for our country with their unrelenting 24/7 attacks on the current administration? And where are the FACTS to support these idiotic statements?

I have Mr. Levin's book right here on my desk. My neighbor gave it to me after a lengthy discussion regarding Atlas Shrugged, (we've both read it, I voted and campaigned for Obama, he is proud to call himself a conservative), saying if I liked that, (which I do, for various reasons), I'd think this book was good too. I read the first chapter and nearly threw it against the wall because it was such a factual failure that I was horrendously disgusted.

I wish somebody could explain how a network like Fox News continues to exist broadcasting non stop this kind of trash. I know there are enough corrupt corporations willing to sponsor this evil tripe but are there really that many stupid Americans that create the apparently ever important "ratings" phenomena? I frequently tune in to get my daily dose of toxic pollution but I can only take a few minutes before my self preservation reflex kicks in. It's totally incomprehensible to me.

No one sanctions fraud. laissez-faire does NOT mean legalizing theft, but then the author is not interested in an accurate represention. The author also seems to have conveniently forgotten that Madoff was a HUGE supporter of Democrats.

Do the words Boosh Administration mean anything to you? You know?
The last 8 Years?

It is not accurate to portray the last administration as laissez-faire. The regulatory burden increased significantly under President Bush.

"The regulatory burden increased significantly under President Bush."

Say What?

Don't believe the leftist propaganda.

Bush was a HUGE regulator.

http://oversight.house.gov/documents/20060718...

You are being LIED to by these guys.

Regardless of what your links say.
Boosh was no regulator.
sippin too much koolaide ay?

One of those links was produced by the house Democrats.

I do not lie. I do not like Kool-Aide and I did not like Bush.

I just hate the disinformation being put forth by so many people.

Let's take another tack.

Can you name any significant DE-Regulation of the financial markets that Bush signed????

That should be REALLY easy, right????

I'll be waiting.

If you read Michael Moore's "Stupid White Men", you'll see he says that Clinton was the best Thug Pres ever. And I tend to agree.

Signed the bill that gutted Glass-Steagall, but IIRC, the passage numbers from the overwhelming Thug Congress, and the Blue Dog Dems made the bill veto-proof.

And my point remains.

Bush did not sign ANY significant De-regulations on this - PERIOD.

was written by a Cato Institute wonk (Conservative think tank, anti Iraq war, fair dues):
Veronique de Rugy has joined the Cato Institute as an adjunct scholar.

Gattuso in your 2nd link is a Heritage Foundation wonk (Real conservative, more than CATO). As far as I'm concerned, assholes like these two helped shore up CheneyBushCo, and their info is not trustworthy, unless you think you're at Red State.

And article #3 is called "GOVERNMENT PAPERWORK BURDENS HAVE INCREASED SUBSTANTIALLY UNDER THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION" is not an indication of regulation, but of, in this, the addition of Part D to medicare, which caused many of us indigent who weren't previously saddled with copays, got them. IIRC, it took me and a social worker 45 minutes to fill out that paperwork, which prior to GWB's intro of Part D, was non-extant, and not needed.
I got that info from the report, under 'Causes of the Paperwork Increases' Here. I'll quote:

OMB reports that 95% of the 441 million hour increase in the paperwork burden in fiscal year 2005 was caused by statutory changes. The Medicare Prescription
Drug Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 alone was responsible for an increase in burden of 224 million hours. The increase in paperwork from the new Medicare prescription drug benefit nearly doubled the total paperwork burden for HHS.
As of June 11, 2006, 22.5 million people were enrolled in the new Medicare drug program. The complicated design of the new Medicare drug program has added 10 hours of government paperwork for every person enrolled in the new program.

Here comes the beautiful part, buddy:

Most of the increases in government paperwork burdens associated with the new Medicare prescription drug plan are the result of policy choices made by President Bush and Republican congressional leaders. The Medicare drug plan uses a complicated structure that forces seniors to choose from up to 50 competing private drug plans, each with a bewildering array of differences in premiums, co-pays, formularies, and drug restrictions. This complex structure benefits private health insurers, who get large subsidies for offering Medicare drug plans, and the pharmaceutical industry, which has avoided pressure to lower drug prices. But it has resulted in a vastly more difficult program for seniors and
other Medicare beneficiaries to understand and navigate.

Ummmmmm. not for regulation, but for bending over poor people.

And who cares who Madoff supported? The Dems can't help that.

So your tactic is to simply dismiss the source, rather than deal with the actual facts???

Pretty typical.

Oh, and that medicare "bending over" (as you characterized it) is VERY popular with the people you claim are being damaged.

Now, I also think that that program was wrong, but I suspect you and I have different reasons for our dislike of that program.

You offered NO ACTUAL FACTS, therefore it is not possible to deal with any.

And deflecting the poverty of your offerings by putting down my pointing it out, is fairly typical of a weak arguer, with a pallid argument.

And you don't address the fact how you slipped source #3 in there, and it had nothing to do with regulation. Also telling.

So where did you read law, and where is your constitutional law practice then, Constitutionally Speaking?

I see you edited...you have no way of knowing if we have different ways of looking at the boondoggle, and you still offer no explanation as to how a link meant to point out excessive reg was not in anyway regarding regulation, merely an excess of paperwork, and now you're in a pissing match over my characterisation of something in the link, instead of admitting you were padding your resume, or simply did not read the report. Or LYING, as you accused others in your OP.

Weak weak weak, bro. Deflection city, and a time waster.

I did so. I claimed Bush increased regulations significantly and gave you three sources that backed it up.

And #3 was indeed about regulation - what do you think all that paperwork was for????

The poverty of argument was of the part where you refused to deal with the fact that Bush and De-regulation are nearly mutually exclusive, and the liberals are lying about that.

And if you don't like my third link - ignore it and deal with the other two by actually disputing the facts within.

OR you can point to any significant financial de-regulations that Bush signed.

That SHOULD be easy if Bush was the rampant de-regulator you folks claim.

Why are you having such a hard time finding one??

Medicare Part D, not regulation. Your third source-read the table of contents and scroll down to the heading 'Causes of the Paperwork Increases' Here. I'll quote again, even though you won't read info FROM YOUR OWN LINK:

If you don't like the link - deal with the others.

You actually think Medicare Part D was not full of regulations???

you are wrong health care sucks in the USA

slanted right wing think tank shite.

Time wasting, like you.

Find me one significant de-regulation that Bush signed!!

Seems it is YOU who has no actual facts, just a lot of unfounded accusations.

Come on! The rampant de-regulator Bush MUST have had HUNDREDS of instances - right????

The pursuit of TRUTH is never a waste of time - unless you don't WANT the truth and would rather just smear people - or hide with your head in the sand.

(anyone else notice how quickly the other poster devolved into ad-hominems??)

you are a joke

you are full carp

you are a moron

The author critisized Mr. Levin for saying he will destroy a Health Care system that most of us like.

Well, the authors OWN SOURCE backs this up!!!

From the same NYT article quoted in the authors piece.

"77 percent said they were very or somewhat satisfied with the quality of their own care. "

Where most people say they want to change the system, it is usually after being fed phony statistics like "45 million Americans have no health care". This is simply not an accurate statement.

you are a moron
