So far, we’ve had Birthers, “death panels,” a “death book,” concentration camps for conservatives, and the pervasive “Obama=Hitler” meme. And that’s just been in the first eight months of Barack Obama’s presidency.

But if you thought the wingnuts had already driven over the cliff and into the abyss, just wait. They really have just gotten started on their descent.

In a few weeks, there’s going to be a big gathering of right-wing True Believers in St. Louis, at a convention called “How to Take Back America”. Note, of course, that this is not terribly original; the Campaign for America’s Future convention for the previous five years before 2009 was called “Take Back America,” though this year they appropriately changed it to “America’s Future Now.” (Some wags in attendance called it “Got Back America.”) Given an opening and the circumstances, the wingnuts have claimed the name for themselves this year.

In any event, it promises to be something special. Guest wingnut luminaries speaking at the convention will include Rep. Michelle Bachmann, Rep. Steve King (the guy who claims that gays and lesbians wouldn't become hate-crime victims if they didn't flaunt it), Joseph Farah of World Nut Daily, and Gen. William G. "Jerry" Boykin (more about him shortly) plus, of course, such convention organizers as Phyllis Schlafly.

As Kyle at RightWingWatch notes, it looks to be a smashing good time, especially at the workshops, where you can bone up on such subjects as:

"How to recognize living under Nazis & Communists"

"How to deal with supremacist judges"

"How to defeat UN attacks on sovereignty"

"How to stop socialism in health care"

"How to counter the homosexual movement"

"How to stop the killings: pro-life solutions"

The video above was compiled from footage spotted by Kyle from a webcast promoting the conference.

Fundamentalist guru Rick Scarborough -- all you need to know about him is that he's an avid associate of Alan Keyes -- is featured in the first segment of the video, bemoaning the "crucifixion" of the 2008 election results. It's there mostly for the jaw-dropping amusement value.

The second half of the video is just downright weird: radio talk-show host Janet Porter, another of the conference's organizers, launches into a somewhat confusing array of conspiracy theories involving vaccines. Porter's theory is that President Obama and other nefarious types are currently trying to drum up hysteria about H1N1 flu so that they can give us a vaccine that will kill large numbers of Americans.

Seriously. That's her theory.

She even had on a woman named Jane Burgermeister on her radio program earlier this month, promoting precisely that theory:

Specifically, evidence is presented that the defendants, Barack Obama, President of the U.S, David Nabarro, UN System Coordinator for Influenza, Margaret Chan, Director-General of WHO, Kathleen Sibelius, Secretary of Department of Health and Human Services, Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Department of Homeland Security, David de Rotschild, banker, David Rockefeller, banker, George Soros, banker, Werner Faymann, Chancellor of Austria, and Alois Stoger, Austrian Health Minister, among others, are part of this international corporate criminal syndicate which has developed, produced, stockpiled and employed biological weapons to eliminate the population of the U.S. and other countries for financial and political gain.

The charges contend that these defendants conspired with each other and others to devise, fund and participate in the final phase of the implementation of a covert international bioweapons program involving the pharmaceutical companies Baxter and Novartis. They did this by bioengineering and then releasing lethal biological agents, specifically the "bird flu" virus and the "swine flu virus" in order to have a pretext to implement a forced mass vaccination program which would be the means of administering a toxic biological agent to cause death and injury to the people of the U.S.

Now that is some top-shelf AAA Venusian-grade Crazy there, folks. It's almost enough to make me want to fly out to St. Louis just to witness it.

And let's not forget the high-quality advice we'd be getting. For instance, there's Gen. Boykin. Most folks remember Jerry Boykin as the general who made the war in Iraq out to be a religious crusade by "God's Army". But there's much, much more to Boykin than merely that; he also happens to be one of the chief upper-echelon culprits responsible for the atrocities at Abu Ghraib prison. And before that, he was directly involved in devising the FBI's disastrous strategy that produced the human disaster at the Branch Davidian Compound in Waco, Texas in 1993.

Who could ask for more?

Boykin, check.

Ahh, you found Porter! This is her best one so far (I think):

Funny how a lot of these guys have ties to Huckabee too.

My God. I don't think I've ever heard of this person. How many whackjobs can exist?

I guess my personal computer has long been owned by the U.S. government because of the emails I sent to Bush long, long ago.

Where in the hell do these people come from?

GREAT !!!!
the swine flu vaccinations are voluntary
like all the flu vaccinations....
the reichwingnuts have every right to
not take these vaccinations and should
be happy to enjoy ALL THE RISTS associated
with getting this possibly lethal flu, BUT
don't ask the rest of us to support you by
paying for your health care costs from any
complications when you get this flu.

bachman, please give back all the money
the taxpayers are spending on your FREE HEALTH CARE,
you bitch of a hypocrite.

Hey guys!

I only just noticed that the red Flash video player is FINALLY showing the length of the video clip! That's been bugging me forever. Thanks guys! :)

the first thing that came to mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp9852hq0W0

...and you can make megabucks selling the cure!

what do people always say? ...follow the money!

By Helen Branswell, THE CANADIAN PRESS

The company that released contaminated flu virus material from a plant in Austria confirmed Friday that the experimental product contained live H5N1 avian flu viruses.

And an official of the World Health Organization’s European operation said the body is closely monitoring the investigation into the events that took place at Baxter International’s research facility in Orth-Donau, Austria.

http://www.torontosun.com/news/canada/2009/02...

that would be a conspiracy theory/snark

Might I be so blunt as to ask, why it is that when Rethuglicans and GW Bush did things and the internet went wild, even when alot of these stories were only semi-proven. Is that not the same context? Why is it, that American Dems AND Rethugs always say the same things when stories float out? "Oh that's just silly conspiracy theories". What is it about party loyalty that makes people believe their government, although proven to be liars and frauds over and over, would never do anything intentional to harm them, nosirree bub.
Wonder if there is any truth to this story, or if it's just a conspiracy as well:

Obama's Blackwater? Chicago Mercenary Firm Gets Millions for Private "Security" in Israel and Iraq
http://www.alternet.org/world/134594/obama%27...

Or those silly conspiracy theories about black helicopters patrolling the Canadian border, even though there are eyewitness accounts repeatedly. Or predator drones. Or a multitude of things proven, but ignored if it's "my" party. Humans are so fickle.

No that's real, you can expect a black helicopter at your house any minute.......what a putzzzzzz

Yep

8 years of Bush walking all over the US and his staff of merry idiots, and you people still have no g-damn clues except to spout party nonsense. Anyone that actually has an opposing opinion to either main political party are all batshit crazy. Uh huh. Who's the putz? Oh ya, you.

Oh and don't forget, anyone on the globe that suggests ET's out there anywhere are crazy as hell, but those that cry and roll around on the ground praying for an invisible entity are totally sane.

1. This "release" was reported to the authorities by Baxter.
2. The virus was sent to a few testing laboratories, one of which reported the problem to Baxter.
3. The virus contaminant was H5N1 bird flu, NOT swine flu, which is H1N1. Totally different strains.

This was undoubtedly a major screw-up by the Orth-Danau research facility, but NOT some sort of international conspiracy.

these people are the strongest argument ever for euthanasia.

David,

Nice and timely article. I'm thinking of going to that convention myself but am worried I'd do something that might get me hurt!

Anyway, below is an email I sent to Beck a short while ago (before I read your post).

For those who don't know, I'll preface with this: "Dr. Strangelove" is one of my all time favorite movies (Stanley Kubrick, 1964). It concerns a crazy U.S. General, Jack D. Ripper (my moniker) who hates commies. He thinks that fluoridation is a Commie plot. So General Ripper starts a series of events to drop an atomic bomb on Communist Russia.

So, with that, here is the email I sent to Beck a short while ago:

Hey, Beck.

I really hope you read this entire email because I have something very serious to discuss.

You know how you’re always telling us to be afraid? Well, I am afraid, but it’s not because of the reasons you cite.

I first have to ask you a serious question.

Do you realize that fluoridation is the cause of all of this craziness we’re now seeing in the country? I mean, everybody drinks water, and that’s why everyone is so crazy right now.

Really. I’m quite serious with this question, and here’s why.

I very recently came across some information concerning a conference that’s coming up here in St. Louis….. http://www.howtotakebackamerica.org/

Notice that your pal Michelle Bachmann among others will be there.

Check out the workshop schedule, Beck. It’s very interesting.

There’s one workshop called “How to recognize living under Nazis and Communists.” That’s right up your alley, Beck. Do you think you should go to this
conference?

There’s another workshop called “How to counter the homosexual movement.” I found that very interesting because both you and Michelle are quite interested in “camps.” I’m wondering, do you plan on putting homosexuals in camps once you “take back America?”

Then, there is the potential guest list. As mentioned, Michelle Bachmann will be there. Apparently, Mike Huckabee and crazy person Steve King of Iowa will be there. There are some 24 workshops, so many others will be attending.

But what REALLY caught my eye in a flyer I saw is that General William Boykin will be there to discuss issues about Islam. Do you know General Boykin? I’m sure you know of him.

When I saw that General Boykin will be at this conference, I thought that I should go because one of my favorite movie characters is General Jack D. Ripper, and General Boykin kind of reminds me of General Ripper. You see, General Ripper likes to fight Commies, just as General Boykin likes to fight Muslims. And, both Generals are bats*#t crazy.

So that gets me back to my original question about fluoridation, because fluoridation is the most dangerous plot that’s ever hit this country, and it’s already taken effect with all of the craziness going on. I think it’s going to take the likes of General Boykin to fight this evil plot, and that’s why I am afraid.

You do know what General Ripper did in the movie “Dr. Strangelove,” don’t you? And you do know what happened at the very end of the movie, don’t you?

That’s why I am afraid, Mr. Beck, and since you seem to somehow fit into all of this, I thought I should let you know.

I'm so giddy with excitement I just wet myself. That's just up the road a piece from where I live.

I've been wetting myself all week since I heard the news! I also live just down the road a piece from the venue!

In my line of work, the crazy in people is not always obvious. This conference would definitely be a clear demonstration of the flip side of that particular coin.

I'm also quite tempted to go. But I am afraid I might be raptured away after one or two workshops.

David Neiwert...let us know if you're going to make it!

...that you stock up on Poise Undergarments before you go.

From the large majority of people who participated in what is commonly referred to as "free and open Democracy".
Or...
"How to Take America Back From The People Who Won The Election Fair and Square,But Elected Someone Whom I Personally Don't Agree With,So It Doesn't Count and Plus he's a Commie Terrorist Nazi....and A Negro,So Fuck You".

And this is a threat because...the gay is contagious? God will smite us?

Will they attempt to vaccinate themselves against homosexuality at the workshop?

:P$

Ooh a homo vaccine! Does it work if you've already got teh gay?

$100 says that at least half of the people at this conference have skeletons in their own closets...

Only half?

.. or dildos. One of them.

You just have to arch your back a little more.

Works for me every time.

The entire movement?

Oh my!

someone on my FB account posted it on their wall. Apparently they're concerned that US Gov't (read: Obama) has given a couple Pharma companies the go ahead to mass-develop a swine flu vaccine, and (they claim) the pharmas have been granted immunity from any damages the vaccine may cause. On top of that, they say, the US Military will be used to enforce all citizens to receive the vaccine. Put the two together, and it looks like, to them, that Obama is having the drug companies create a drug to kill everyone, and the military will be the ones administering it.

It truely is amazing how f*cking crazy these people are. Instead of taking a bit of comfort in the steps our Gov't is taking to help stave off a pandemic, they're concerned about this genocide nonsense. I suppose they'd rather have a president & administration that sits back and waits for 1/3 of the country to get infected with a virus, and then say "no one could have predicted this would happen".

Of course there are two vaccines, one for Democrats and one for Republicans.

Kathleen Sebelius did sign a document granting flu vaccine makers immunity from prosecution/lawsuits in the event there are adverse effects from any of the vaccines.

As a person who became quite ill in 1976 from that swine flu vaccine - which was not 'mandatory' but shall we say 'highly recommended' (by having the fear of gawd instilled in the public via news media/gov't),
I'll not be taking the new one for H1N1 under any circumstance.

I remember, back in 2004, when wingnut posters, in various websites' comments, advocated "rounding up the liberals" and sending them to camps, sending Iraq war protesters to Iraq...and when W said, "This'd be a whole lot easier if it were a dictatorship (heh heh), just so long as I'm the dictator (heh)." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_(psychology)

Gosh, I must be the same kind of crazy as Beck and Bachman and those ultra-right-wingnuts. You see, I DO "believe" in certain conspiracy theories, such as a plan to spread so much fear of the flu-du-jour that people demand untested, tainted vaccines; flouride being used for pretty much the same reason it was used by the German Nazis in water supplies of occupied territories (to mellow out the populace); chemtrails (including fighting back); have seen UFO's; and even in the existence of black magic within government agencies. Never mind that I am a lifelong liberal, an Obama supporter, 'way too educated, and have life experience which includes personal knowledge/experience of MK-ULTRA.

According to this thread, even having an opinion that overlaps that of anyone truly crazy paints me with the same brush.

I'm with you with a grain of salt on all those things except the existence of black magic with in government agencies.

Please tell me more. I want to believe.

Do you not believe that black magic is still practiced?

I can tell you a lot more about all these topics but not in a soundbite.

Here you go curtilingus

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bohemian_Grove

and here is an old news report "soundbite"...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCDs9Vs2iYM

can you say ...cremation of care?

Thanks for the links Milq! Heard of it before but I didn't realize Bohemian grove is in Sonoma, CA just a couple counties south of me.

So we had black magic in the White house even before Barack got elected?

many people believe in the Ark, talking snake, etc. stories, so why wouldn't they believe in Satan and thus black magic? Read Anton Szandor LaVey. He'll explain it all to you.

All hail Sagan!

Sidenote: I can't spell extraordinary properly a second time to save my life.

However, my evidence is subjective. That doesn't often stand up to the scientific method; neither does the Oral Tradition but there's "evidence" there of UFO's in numerous cultures. I studied Navajo folklore and was amazed to find that they have lots of stories of sightings and abductions; these parallel Credo Mutwa's evidence of off-worlders in both his own lifetime and in deep African history.

I doubt that will be good enough for Carl Sagan, though.

Lord Kelvin thought X-Rays were a hoax, after all. It certainly is fascinating, but aren't there other similarities among cultures that should have not had contact with one another? Legends of dragons or other mythical beasts certainly have been found on several continents among disparate cultures.

It just seems strange to me that sentient life presumably capable of feats such as interstellar travel would concern themselves with such a primitive species. I'm way too far off the rails of this thread though, so I'll shut up now.

while not capable of interstellar travel yet, look at the organisms we study. Heck if there are aliens, them stopping by and picking up a few of us for testing might be no more to them, than a Jr. High field trip scooping up some paramecium out of the local pond is to us.

whatever you do, never mention that you may think there are valid reasons to believe that something other than jets caused the WTC buildings to crumble into dust on 9/11. And, I'm sure we're entering a period of global warming, but I'm not convince that it's being caused by human activity (though I'm a big fan of stopping air/water pollution regardless).

I'm not crazy or a follower of Beck or Alex Jones ( though I've been accused of both before), I just happen to be a skeptic and I'm interested in asking questions and getting complete answers. Anyone who does not question the motives of people with the power and money are not paying attention.

Just ignore those whose only response to skepticism is criticism and name-calling, and you'll be just fine.

Granted this concerns the scientific definition of skepticism, but the Anthropogenic Global Warming theory has met the expectations of nearly everyone* who is trained to employ this professionally.

* = there is disagreement over the degree of human influence and the consequences we face in the years ahead, most notably from Freeman Dyson.

As a hypnotherapist, I know that it is not possible to make people do things that are against their beliefs and values even under hypnosis. There is brainwashing. It happens all the time in Fundamentalist gatherings.

It takes a whole lot of trauma to do that, of course. There is a great deal of information about not just this program, but others using similar techniques.

Kathy Griggs, Arizona Wilder, Beth Goobie-- these women all have stories about being made to do things that were against their beliefs and values.

http://www.whale.to/b/goobie.html

Several of the conspiracy theories you espouse just do not hold water. Come on - black magic and UFO's? Fluoridation as a means of mind control? Untested tainted vaccines? You do realize that the government requires vaccines to be tested, included limited clinical trials, every year? You realize the distances between us and even the closest star makes it unlikely that we are getting visitors? You realize that there is no proof whatsoever that black magic exists? Do I realize that I might as well be talking to the wall?

..the "government" does the testing/clinical trials - which implies that the "government" is without fault, infallible.? How many times have we learned...after the fact...that there was a problem with a pharmaceutical or vaccine??

However, you are free to believe what you wish...and you may take any drug/vaccine based upon gov't approval. What are the other things we've taken as truth because the "government" said so?

Big Pharma polices itself, and only acts when people die from their crap and law suits are filed.

...but the gov't requires that the people who make the vaccines/drugs do the testing....DUH.

ekwhite has upset me by lumping something that is absolutely real with something that may or may not be. How reliable can the testing be when it is done by researchers at universities and hospitals where the research is funded by the company that is making the drug being tested? This is a clusterfuck of monumental proportions, and anyone who wants to spend an hour or so researching this can prove it to themselves.

there was an article about 'medical ghostwriting' involving drug company Wyeth and a medical researcher, Barbara Sherwin, at McGill University.

When it comes to protecting their interests, pharmaceutical companies will stop at nothing:

http://www.nationalpost.com/related/topics/st...

altar of corporate profits, with the belief that one could be sacrificed on an altar during a black mass. Do some research on Big Pharma and their Gardasil vaccine, for instance, before you close your mind to the FACT that they pay researchers to fake reports on the safety of certain medications. Why do you think there have been so many recalls lately? Do you not know that the FDA has NO power to enforce anything--they can only suggest that toxic drugs and foods be removed from the marketplace? If you get the daily warnings from the FDA delivered to your e-mail box, you would see that they always say that a company has "voluntarily recalled" their tainted product. This is really important, and your own life could depend on your knowing about this. Catch up!

but aren't most of those 'workshop' topics at least tangentially related to sexual activity?

Lots of writers note that the Religious Right wants to totally control sexuality. Many can be found on Alternet. Abortion, homosexuality, abstinence; these are only the most obvious topics.

The only thing missing from that line up of conspiracies is that the illuminati and the Anti-Christ will come foward through {enter the song from the movie the Omen here}

I'm hoping that Palin shows up, along with her witch doctor friend.

And why did the women have to settle for broadswords? National Geographic proved that the Katana is the Leatherman Multi-tool of swords. Sexism!

This simpleton uses DRUDGE for RESEARCH?

Oh well...nothing new there.

Just think about it. They have always held themselves UP to be the Christian MORAL example for the whole World to follow and yet, in just 8 short years they've gone from the MORAL high ground to the lowest of the low. In the last 8 years they've defended, promoted and extolled the virtues of KIDNAPPING, BEATING, TORTURE, LYING, ILLEGAL INVASION OF OTHER COUNTRIES.
They've hoped and prayed for the DEATH of the President of the United States OPENLY AND PROUDLY. They've made up dozens of stories about health care while making it clear THEY BELIEVE that the 22,000 people who die each year from lack of health care either do not deserve to live of are "paying for their own bad choices". They've campaigned for ending free school lunch programs for poor children, claiming hunger is GOOD for children.
They've awarded corporations enormously to MOVE their factories out of the country and put Americans out of work and then campaigned AGAINST unemployment benefits for unemployed WORKERS AND against Medicaid benefits for ADULTS between 21 and 65 years of age for more than 3 months every year or less.
They JUSTIFY sending American TROOPS to be slaughtered in foreign occupations with the cavalier remark that "they volunteered", even though NONE OF THOSE who SEND them had the courage to fight for their OWN country. They just want OTHERS to do it FOR THEM. Yes John McCain went to Viet Nam, but he went believing he'd have a cake walk. His daddy got him out of all his messes and all he was supposed to do was fly over, drop his bombs and go home. If he'd been a better pilot, it would have been that easy. It was his daddy's interference when he crashed the previous 4 planes and caused multiple deaths of fellow soldiers on the battleship that gave him the phony credentials to fly that bomber to Viet Nam.
Just in the last 8 years and 8 months, "conservatives" have renounced every single "value" they used to have claim to owning. NOW they are just a bunch of lying, two-faced, cheating trash. AND they get worse every day.
When you have members of CONGRESS touting and joking about the death of the President without a single OTHER member of EITHER party calling them out on it, you have a bridge to disaster and nothing will ever change for the better, only for the worst.
And we even have the ex vice president of the United States BRAGGING about his part in TORTURE, AND BREAKING EVERY LAW OF GOD AND MAN, even if you don't believe in GOD, those that claim they do MUST be truthful, and the people in charge of enforcing the law doing nothing and that VP DARING ANYONE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT HIS CRIMES.
When the "enforcers" of the LAW allow the criminals to dictate what, when, how and whom they will enforce, the gig is UP. WE ARE DOOMED to live forever under the dictatorship of the G-NO-P and their OWN corporate RULERS.

Christian love and compassion coming through.

I'm not sure how many sects the (white supremacist) have and I find myself puzzled, regarding their use of the swastika symbol at their Klan gatherings.

I was under the impression that they (KKK) admired it as a representation of their ideologies; hence their often predominant display of said symbol.

So now, if they're so disgusted with President Obama, why are they using it to say it represent him?

Is it just a different faction of crazies that dislike the KKK and the President, or are they really oblivious to reality?

Any theories? Could someone please explain this odd occurrence? Unless the KKK didn't like it, I remain puzzled. Thanks

...few people know enough about history to understand what the swastika really meant, nor the Nazis. Blame the dumbing-down of the American educational system. Our grandparents were much better educated than we were.

.

that the anachronym "NAZI" actually stands for...in german...

National Socialist Party.

Hitler ran on a platform of national socialism and won election in a big landslide.

(just like the big O)

...and then he CHANGED... if you can BELIEVE IN that!

So does the KKK admire a "National Socialist Party"?

...noidea!

My first guess would absolutely no fu**in way.

...ask David Niewert...he would know!

It stands for "racial purity."

Ironically the National Socialist Party was anti-socialism and their biggest threat was communism. Socialist does not accurately describe their idealogy.

That's right, Marcella.

Remember that the Nazis were fixated on the Jewish "international bankers" they blamed for Germany's "stab in the back" defeat in WWI. So they argued for nationalizing the international banks and turning their assets over to German banks. That is, their "socialism", i.e., the state seizing control of the means of production, extended to nationalizing international interests on behalf of national interests. Otherwise, for German-owned businesses, the Nazis practiced classic laissez-faire capitalism, at least until war approached.

From Robert O. Paxton's Anatomy of Fascism, p.56:

Even at their most radical, the socialism that the fascists wanted was a "national socialism": one that denied only foriegn or enemy property rights (including that of internal enemies). They cherished national producers. Above all, it was by offering an effective remedy against socialist revolution that fascism turned out in practice to find a space. If Mussolini retained some lingering hopes in 1919 of founding an alternative socialism rather than an antisocialism, he was soon disabused of those notions by observing what worked and what didn't work in Italian politics. His dismal electoral results with a Left-nationalist program in Milan in November 1919 surely hammered that lesson home.

An elderly gentleman who is of German heritage is so inconsistent.

He sometimes extols the "virtues" of certain of Hitler's ideas. The ideal of achieving racial purity is one of the ideals he thinks was just great. (I'm mixed race, he has tried to shoot me when drunk, he really likes it!). So they did really like that part of the Nazi philosophy.

Yet, he really does use "Nazi" and "Hitler" as an insult! He listens to Fox non-stop and just parrots them.

The other thing that is clouding it is that the far-right home school history books are revisionist that Hitler's "socialist" party *really* was socialist. Which has already been explained in this thread, he wasn't socialist in practice at all. They are also being revisionist that the KKK was really a Democratic Party plot. No really, they are.

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=101760

"The KKK was formed by a Democrat; no Republican has ever been a member of the KKK. This is the heritage of the Democratic Party."

So younger racists are distancing themselves from both the KKK and Hitler.

Don't underestimate the power of revisionist history!

I highly doubt, no republican has ever been a member of the KKK, it is true that it was formed by southern democrats.

In the wake of the Civil War, the only Republicans in the South were carpetbaggers and African-Americans. The Whig Party still held a little sway in Georgia and North Carolina before that war, but not afterwards. Of course Democrats started the KKK. But here's the thing:

NIXON COURTED THE RACIST ELEMENTS OF THE SOUTHERN DEMOCRATS TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY! STROM THURMOND, FORMER DEMOCRAT, SPENT THE LAST DECADES OF HIS LIFE AS A REPUBLICAN! TRENT LOTT, FORMER DEMOCRAT BECAME A REPUBLICAN! DAMNED NEAR EVERY FUCKING SOUTHERN REPUBLICAN OVER THE AGE OF 60 WAS ONCE A DEMOCRAT! THEY LEFT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY BECAUSE THE REST OF THE DEMOCRATS PASSED THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964 AND THE VOTING RIGHTS ACT OF 1965!

THE CHAMPION OF STATES' RIGHTS, THE SAINT OF SURFSIDE, RON PAUL IS A MEMBER OF THE PARTY- THE REPUBLICAN PARTY- THAT OVERWHELMINGLY PASSED THE 14TH AMENDMENT, THE AMENDMENT THAT STRIPPED AWAY STATES' RIGHTS!

Ironic, ain't it.

Now STFU and quit trying to hang the modern Democratic Party with Nathan Bedford Forrest, or you'll sink under the weight of Thaddeus Stephens, Morrison R. Waite and Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad.

Robert Byrd.
Sorry I couldn't resist. But I was not trying to hang the modern Dems with Forrest. I simply stated a fact. Sorry if said fact struck a nerve.

And states don't have rights, they have powers. Rights are reserved to the people not Govt entities.

And yes the 14th might infringe on state powers to a degree, but the states agreed to it. It takes a 3/4 majority of the states to ratify an amendment. And it does not infringe very much, let alone strip away their powers. It makes the states consider all people in its jurisdictions equal. They still retain their powers, they simply must enforce them equally. And allows for incorporation of the bill of rights. And how will two republicans that fought against slavery and discrimination sink me?

Or a lawsuit that was decided by the supreme court on the basis that it violated the states constitution.

... members right now. And a boatload of southern Republican racists who are not members. My list is a whole heck of a lot longer than two. They just don't happen to hold public office. The elderly gentleman I mention is a Republican, btw.

Andy K did a good job of the racist element party history affiliation in one paragraph.

The point of the revisionism is to do exactly what Andy K pointed out. Read all three sentences of their misinformation. Read the link, if you aren't familiar with that website already. The best revisionist propaganda mixes truth with revisionist non-facts.

say that I don't know any Repubs that are members of the KKK, but I can't say that I don't know any Dems, or Liberals or any other political party. But I can say that I don't personally know anyone that admits to it. I have seen them on TV and in the papers and of course on the internet. But who hasn't.

For the revisionism, Andy K agreed that it was the southern Dems that started the KKK."Of course Democrats started the KKK." And I read the link, and stated above that I don't agree with all of it. Or did you miss this,"I highly doubt, no republican has ever been a member of the KKK" Yes it is a biased site. I never disputed that. I did dispute that saying the KKK was started by the southern Dems is revisionist. If you have any proof that it wasn't founded by them I would be glad to look at it.

And I have one question for Andy K, why would the southern Dems defect for a party that was also massively for the civil rights act? The vote wasn't split along party lines, it was split along geographic lines. The north voted for the south against.

Wake up people, NASA has been working on the International Space Station since the Clinton Administration. They're creating a world government headquarters in space. We keep sending the space shuttle up there, and there's talk of a base on the moon. There are thousands of satelittes in space tracking us. They've convinced the car and phone companies to put GPS monitors in our cars and cellphones. This is all a part of the Clinton/Obama/WHO plan to eradicate us from space while they are flown on the next generation of space shuttles to their moon bases. Why do you think Obama made Clinton his Secretary of State? Because she has to be allowed to continue to coordinate with the UN their plans to engineer a flu virus that will wipe us all out while they head to the moon to wait out our destruction. They're not even hiding it, I can see the satellites in the sky at night. George Bush only invaded Iraq to try and stop their plans. He knew there were no weapons of mass destruction. Those aluminum tubes weren't for nuclear weapons, but they were for the construction of the Clinton Moon Base. And the homosexuals are in on it - do you know what the queers are doing to our soil?

joking of course.

Looks like Daniel Craig has his third Bond film.

liberals take pictures of Grassely with. It is a conspiracy.

I'm sure if I were in St. Louis on that weekend I could happily demonstrate just what "homosexual movements" are -- even twice for those who didn't get the full picture the first time. Something tells me I could fill a convention ballroom there.

And the "gay attacks" on the military? Again, with some strapping young soldier dudes who would be willing to get into full dress uniforms I could demonstrate just what type of "gay attacks" could occur on our members of the military. I suspect I may have my work cut out for me there, but I'm willing to try if only to demonstrate what this is all about to our conservative brothers.

I'd even be open to a few lessons myself. Now, who says liberals cannot be bi-partisan ?

It is an absolutely fabulous response.

to be an awesome comment thread.

Don't get the damn vaccine. You want a conspiracy theory? Perhaps the whole nonesense was created for the drug companies to sell more drugs. Remember when Rick Perry demanded that all young girls get the vaccine for cervical cancer? Bullshit. Selling drugs, nothing else.

...before 9/11 and the illegal undeclared war in Afghanistan?Iraq started...

you might have been laughed at but...

...after seeing the lies of Darth Voldemort and the "Chimpster" that took us into a trillion dollar war on terror (based on lies and propaganda) that made billions for the Military industrial complex...attitudes have changed...

Yes Mr. Milquetoast, it's infuriating. Every fucking drug commercial on TV is for a non-existent condition. Restless leg syndrome? Dry eyes? ADD? ADHD? Does anyone really need a drug for that? The list goes on and on. Profit for war, profit for perceived medical conditions. It's a fucking joke. And people buy this bullshit. UGH!

You think restless leg, dry eyes, ADD and ADHD are all bunk? Really?

Surely you jest. As my legs kick uncontrollably under my desk, my eyes refuse to tear up and my mind, uh...I was thinking something.....must medicate now.

It thrives on disproving anything and everything under the sun. The medical industry knows this. You can only peddle fraud for so long before some grad student in a university basement lab pisses all over your parade.

Deepak Chopra on the other hand...

but money isn't. What we have is a profit-driven medical system, not a science-driven one. Here's evidence of that fact.

It's conservative "regulation" gone awry. If proper government controls were in place and the industry wasn't allowed to collude, this wouldn't have happened.

I'm not saying the medical industry doesn't conspire to commit fraud. As this example demonstrates, they're clearly capable of that. But as this example also demonstrates, the fraud can't be indefinite. And they need help to pull it off.

Don't tease the research bear. Its patient isn't indefinite.

but I think that depends on who controls the government...NO?

Didn't we just have a total economic collapse because the "proper gov't controls" were voted out by the Repugs in 1999???

?

I wasn't making an argument for conservative rule. They pretty much ran the country into the ground, there's not disagreement here.

not have time to piss on any of them.

a tiny percentage of the population suffers from these conditions, but the only way for corporations to profit from treatments (that in many cases don't even work) is to convince everyone else that they also suffer from these conditions. I think most ADD & ADHD diagnoses are really just kids having a sane reaction to our sausage grinder education system. Dry eyes are often caused by lifelong use of eyedrops. Insomnia medication merely prolongs & worsens the condition that caused the insomnia in the first place, which is the same thing that caused your kids' ADHD, and so forth.

Viagra during an AIDS epidemic? Nice.

Just because someone has Doctor in front of their name doesn't mean they're terribly competent.

.

My FAVORITE thing is during the drug commercials they very swiftly at the end run through a long list of side effects. Which if you listen are far worse than what the drug is intended to treat.

Where the fuck was ADD when I was a kid? It was easily treated. Shut the fuck up and do your homework.

But this is a bit like watching a Creationist flail against carbon dating.

Have you ever done a meta-analysis of ADD cases? Are you just basing this on your own anecdotal evidence and preconceptions?

Probably preconceptions. I watched one of my friends medicate her children so she would not have to work very hard at being their parent. Her 17 year old daughter went to live with her mom's sister to get away.

However, point taken.

It's simply common sense. 1960s & 70s: almost no school shootings & almost no ADHD diagnoses; 1980s & 90s: lots of school shootings & lots of ADHD diagnoses, ergo, the profit-driven medical industry has (pick one or more) created/exacerbated a problem which they then worsened or at least failed to treat. No meta-analysis is needed.

True story.

But that's simply not true.

Myths
Tragedy

There are certainly concerns about ADHD diagnoses out there that need to be addressed. But I think you're selling my generation, the parents of my generation and clinicians/researchers really short by arguing its folly.

Rampant misdiagnosis? Entirely possible. Is ADHD completely understood? Hardly. But I think it's a bit of a disservice to a lot of people to just cynically write it off as a ploy by the medical industry.

Geocentrism was common sense at one point too.

was necesarily oversimplified to acommodate the limited format of the comment thread. Of course some people legitimately suffer from symptoms that could be collectively referred to as ADHD, and obviously they deserve treatment. And of course much of the work done by the medical industry has been beneficial to mankind. The thrust of my argument, however, is that there is a rapidly growing pile of evidence suggesting that corporate profits outweigh public health in the system of proritizing most often employed by pharmaceutical companies, and that it is entirely reasonable to suspect the motives behind any suggested treatment. The copmpany that manufactures oxycontin concealed that drug's addictiveness; a number of anti-depressant manufacturers concealed known side effects including the likelihood of suicide; Sanjay Gupta, whose pro-pharma lies are dutifully presented as science on CNN, turned down an opportunity to be the nation's Surgeon General because it didn't pay enough and so on.

you keep comparing my arguments to religious fundamentalism & backwards scientific beliefs, which is disengenuous since my assertions are based on observable evidence & cold logic. If anyone in this debate resembles a fundamentalist, it is you since you so uncritically accept the pro-vaccination position. It could be that that is the correct position, but let's find out and not just believe.

I've already conceded the medical industry has been guilty of trickery.

And your position isn't one based on observable evidence and cold logic. You can't call your own subjective experiences and presuppositions "observable evidence." You've linked to one example and make sweeping generalizations about the differences between generations.

There's no uncritical acceptance of anything here, there's the trusting in science as the ultimate arbiter of truth.

It was an opportunity born of ignorance and greed, and they took that opportunity and ran with it. Profit is God to them. Can't argue with that, can you?

ADHD, and that it is real and man made? Another opportunity for Big Pharma.

Meh

We have ADD. Can track it up over five generations to pre-vaccine era too. Just because it wasn't diagnosed doesn't mean there aren't plentiful family stories going back to pre-diagnosis era in some families.

I do think it is "over-diagnosed" both for profit by some doctors and by some parents or even kids that think stimulants will make them better at school. And, I've worked in pharmaceuticals, and know how sales work, that's not tin foil-hattery. It is often misdiagnosed as well. I'm in several special-needs support groups, it is a very common story to hear that an Asperger's child was initially diagnosed ADD.

All these conspiracy theories really annoy those of us that have it too!

If you see a surgeon for a problem, then you can expect surgery to solve the problem.

Your son can't write.

I admit, I'm a conspiracy theorist. If you want to talk about the JFK assassination or MKUltra until the wee hours of the morning, I'm your girl, but this stuff? This has gone right over the edge. Maybe because for these nutters, it's gone beyond being 'theory' into being some sort of incontrovertible truth where they can't see any other explanation.

Do I think swine flu is some messed up thing that got loose from a lab somewhere? yes, in fact, I do. And while I do believe that people are likely to make a lot of money on it - as in pharma companies - I tend to think this is something cooked up after the fact.

Thinking that somehow Obama cooked this up to kill off Americans is just so completely ridiculous that I can't get my mind around it. Then again, this is the same bunch of nutters that seem to believe there's this decades long conspiracy to cover up the 'real' birthplace of Obama, so there's no telling what they can be made to believe.

Seems there's a dangerous lack of critical thinking skills going on in schools these days.

I have reached there point where there truly isn't anything too outrageous or seemingly inconcievable that I would not believe of BushCo., the GOP, and their ilk. I see too many "coincidental" events like murders and suicides of people with knowledge.

Just look at this thread. Project MK-ULTRA alledgedly involved the use of "chemical, biological and radiological" means seeking physical and psychological results. Who's to say that those experiments didn't contribute to, either directly or indirectly, to the problems of ADD, ADHD, RLDS, or a host of other ailments.

Everything is connected.

They picked as their god Jesus, a man who helped the sick and the poor, yet these christians tend to despise the poor and oppose programs to help the sick and the poor...

I'm down with seeing Jesus as a philosopher of peace like Ghandni, but the right wing preaches ONLY hatred..

I once had a right wing Christian screaming at me till his face was beet red, demanding that I worship Jesus...He was convinced gay people are demons in human form-...the man clearly had mental illness...

I think the guy you are talking about is my brother in law. We are no longer speaking.

My oldest brother is a far right Republican, Rush limbagh and Michael Savage devotee, and seems to feel that as a Christian, his duties should be to feel hatred for gays, Latinos, liberals, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, foreigners, etc...

He feels you can only get to heaven through faith in Jesus (via his Lutheran church) , not through good deeds- so helping people is in his words is 'pointless'.

Is it any wonder my brother's Christ cult has warped him into an angry, loveless bigot..

My brother and i haven't spoken in a couple of years...

Yep. We might be related.

seeing how both sets of our grandparents were undocumented Irish immigrants (illiegal aliens) that settled in Boston

His parents were immigrants. Don't know if they were legal or not, though.

People in the Southwest always think "illegals" and "Mexicans" are pretty much the same thing... don't tell them that the colonization of much of America was Spanish, and much earlier than the English.

At least the Spaniards brought horses. White people? Smallpox.

Europeans

He came with a sword to tear families apart, and the only way to follow him was to hate your family and yourself. Not as peaceful as people like to say.

Is there really a difference between religions and cults?

There can be. I know a real Christian who has a heart of gold and does follow the teachings of Jesus. They are few and far between.

They are not so funny; all you have to do is remember the Holocaust museum guard and Dr. Tiller. It only takes one nut, hyped up on the poison these people spread, to kill. What worries me is that these loonies get attention; the media covers them, and gives them free air time to spread their infection. They are loving all the attention...

Wow

These people make even the most out-of-their-trees 9/11 fantasists seem grounded in reality.

...after my evil inoculation; I will eat a extra-large meal at which time I will immediately go swimming irregardless of cramping claims, upon exiting the water I will pick-up a pair of scissors and run a mile down a sidewalk making sure too step on every crack and after all the daring feats are accomplished... I'll recite that all god(s) can kiss my ass... free speech and free will, gotta Luv it! ;)

... were denying it right till the end too.

"I'm sure they just want us to take a quick shower."

Your fools if you don't pay attention to what is really going on. How you can give trust to an establishment that has lied to all of us throughout history is beyond me.

To be ignorant of one's ignorance is the malady of the ignorant and nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

Oh please! Enough with the "Obama is Hitler" bullshit, ok? Now, since you seem to have a grasp of the wingnut mindset, perhaps you can tell the rest of us WHY? Why the fuck would the United States government conspire to kill large numbers of it's citizens with a swine flu vaccine? For what purpose??

The Establishment, as the world elite call themselves, has a history of genocide and mass manipulation. They fund every war and conspire to subjugating nations all the while innocent people suffer at the hands of these murderers.

How many wars, how many genocides will it take for you to realize that eventually the war will come to you and yours. "Our" government has made it known that all of us are potential terrorist now.. and this includes you if you find issue with them for any reason, like anti-war protest or animal rights advocacy.

At this point in history and with all the information available how could you even fathom that our government is of the people and for the people?

The Establishment has publicly stated their goal for several decades now. If you would only look at the evidence with an open mind you will realize their intent for mankind is global depopulation.

Let us not forget their were other holocausts that occurred last century. The camps are sitting empty in the United States of America right now!!! Wake up before it's too late. We are all on the same side. They are manipulating us into a fight.

and the list goes on

I really hope we can all pull together and rid ourselves of these criminals who have hijacked not only our government but the entire world.

People's trust in government is beyond me. Most are living a grand fallacy.

These people *are* the establishment who feel as though their control is threatened by changing times, and they blame one man for all of the problems in their life.

It's the difference between thinking that President Bush is incompetent and thinking that 9/11 was an inside job. These people need to be concerned with Obama's back door deal with pharmaceutical companies, for example, and not with their racist-fueled persecution complexes.

How crazy are these people? Here's another clue: Me and the missus were driving along this road in our town in Florida, when a white suv pulls up just in front and beside us. On the back were several proclamations: One was support for the "fair tax" (so you know he's a Neal Boortz cult member) but below that on the rear window, and rear doors, in GIANT LETTERS, it read "WAKE UP AMERICA! BE AMERICANS AGAIN!" and "NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR, NEVER HESITATE IN KILLING OUR ENEMIES!" These are some crazy motherfuckers we're dealing with. They will literally believe anything.

Their was a time that I could never imagine possible what I now understand to be true. It's life changing and very hard to swallow when given the knowledge that I have been lied to all my life. I chose not ignore what i was hearing.

I guess since they don't believe in evolution, they think the bird flu and swine flu *HAD* to be bioengineered:

"They did this by bioengineering and then releasing lethal biological agents, specifically the "bird flu" virus and the "swine flu virus""

Is there no point at which these wingnuts either realize they're absolute imbeciles, or begin to question to what lengths they're willing to go for political ends?

At the very least, they should serve to remind all of us what is at stake in Nov. 2010. They and the people behind them intend to keep the anti-Obama firest stoked for the next 14 months, to insure maximum voter turnout.

We have to match them. So I suggest that as we vent our anger and/or disappointment with Obama and the Dems, that we really who THE ENEMY really is. And what's really at stake.

All the JW's would take their Watchtowers and get those annoying fucking yellow markers and mark the key points in their WT articles.

Watching that lady scribble with the yellow marker in Microsoft Word reminded me of that.

Seriously, is your mind so weak that you have to highlight things in yellow?

Power point and word? Everyone knows Jesus favors open-sourced software!

How did all of these things get squashed together? Gays, abortion, communism, sovereignty?

They think just because they don't like something it shouldn't exist. That's the definition of authoritarianism, a wholly unique political movement.

Whatayaknow, the conference is being held in Frontenac, just outside of STL. You may remember this as the setting of some wild and whacky conservative Republic antics a couple of summers ago.

Missouri state Rep. Scott Muschany, R-Frontenac, was indicted today in connection with a reported sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on May 17, the day after this year’s Legislative session ended.

The alleged victim is the daughter of a state employee. The girl’s mother and Muschany -– who is married and has two children -- were romantically involved, the woman said.

...

The document also alleges that the mother "did admit that the incident did take place, including her witnessing same."

I'm getting out of town until the evil's vacated.

Yeah, I remember that creep.

Frontenac ain't all that bad, however....I do like going to see movies at the Landmark inside Plaza Frontenac.

But I like your description of how you're skipping town "until the evil's vacated!"

and you have to suspect these commentators are concerned that they were "left behind"

How many times are these dittiots going to do this;
