Bill O'Reilly started off his TPM segment by being angered that Obama wants to close Guantanamo Bay and not use torture. "Where will he put those Gitmo guys." He feels the ACLU will sue him if they come to the US. BillO then asks what exactly is torture.

O'Reilly: Keeping a suspect awake, loud music, bad food? Will President Obama eliminate all stressful interrogation methods? If so, that will end most of the information flow from captured terrorists. Most of these guys are hard cases. They don't give up information easily.

Notice he never mentioned waterboarding at all and that's his favorite technique. I think the military knows how to get information without torturing detainees. I don't seem to remember BillO or his buddy Dick Morris bringing up Gitmo or McCain's stance on torture when they cheer-leaded for him during the general election. Nope. They were more interested in Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers, but I do know that Bill is just looking out for the folks.

Here's McCain on Gitmo via his own 60 Minutes interview on CBS:

PELLEY: Would you close Guantanamo Bay?

MCCAIN: Yes. I would close Guantanamo Bay. And I would move those prisoners to Fort Leavenworth. And I would proceed with the tribunals.

PELLEY: Why? What's wrong with the way it was handled?

MCCAIN: Guantanamo Bay has become an image throughout the world which has hurt our reputation. Whether we deserve it or not, the reality is Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib have harmed our reputation in the world, thereby harming our ability to win the psychological part of the war against radical Islamic extremism.

And in the same interview, even though McCain did vote that the CIA could use waterboarding, he talks about being against the use of torture.

PELLEY: There have been a lot of semantics over the last few years about what is torture, what isn't torture, whether American tortures prisoners.

MCCAIN: Yeah.

PELLEY: What would you bring to that as President?

MCCAIN: I would never allow any technique which would not be publicly known to be used. We are better than our enemies. We are morally superior. That's why we will win this struggle. And I am confident that we will

Just'a make billo feel better

Let's torture him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlI3Uuo8SWk

Don't worry, Billo. Obama is not yet president. With pals like Joe Lieberman by his side, he just might change his mind by then.

It never ceases to amaze me how popular Billo and Limpballs are. The people who listen to these blowhards have serious issues, I should know, my mother is a dittohead. And i still can't figure her out.

It's because many people would rather be TOLD what to think rather than think for themselves. It's just an easier place to be with much less risk involved. On the down side, it can lead to Nazi Germany.

See, we don't have to think about right or wrong. We trust our leaders, and we trust Bill-O. He wouldn't lead us astray, right?

But the risk is for liberals as well, because I'm about ready to say to hell with the Fairness Doctrine, I want these asshats off the air completely. Throw 'em in jail. Try 'em for the war crimes they endorsed (if you can try Tokyo Rose and Lord Haw Haw, you can frackin' put Bill-O on the stand).

Is she a MILF?

)O(

One: Just because they're charged with terrorism, doesn't mean it's necessarily true.

Two: Hardened cases know how to take just enough torture, before "breaking," and giving pre-established disinformation.

Three: As the Inquisition showed most people will confess to anything that they think the torturer wants to hear to end the torture.

Let them listen to O'Reilly 24/7 on loudspeakers... now that's torture!

About the only thing from which I derive some comfort at this moment is the fact that having an African American president named Barack Hussein Obama is torture to O'Really.

Any human being with a conscience would want to close down that horrid place. Oh I forgot, Mittens wanted to build more of them.

BillO as usual has no idea what he's talking about, he's just creating a situation and like Scarborough, he's pretending he's an expert on the subject. I don't remember Scarborough ever discussing torture, but on ever other subject his audience is supposed to think he knows more on the subject than even the experts.

I made a study of torture when I was a teenager.

I was a very weird kid.

One lovely one is burying someone up to the head, pour honey over them and then ants, American Indians used that one.

Scalping wasn't just hair but scalp as well. Some scholars think the Amerindians got both scalping and burning at the stake from the Spaniards who used it on them.

Protestant Scotland burned people alive at the stake even after England stopped, and the US has no record of that (they hanged.) But the Scots tied people to lever to lever them into the fire, cook them awhile, withdraw them so they cool of some, and then reinsert into the fire off-and-on to prolong the torture.

Of course there was dipping, pressing, swimming and waterboarding.

The Inqusitions used the rack, the Iron Maiden, the boot, the clyster and the strappado. The first two explain themselves. The boot was either putting peoples feet into a metal shoe and grinding the bones of their feet, or like a leg splint that's heavily hammered on. The boot could be filled with boiling oil. The clyster was like a giant turkey baster that would vaginally or anally give hot toddy enemas of oil and even molted metal. The strappado was pulling someone into the air by their wrists with their arms backwards, and perhaps weights on their feet. There was a lever to drop them fast, and then suddenly stop them, causing dislocation of various joints, but particularly the shoulders. This would be repeated as necessary.

But canon law someone could be put to the question only once, but it could be continued indefinitely by using "suspension" of the torture. Considering the use of the strappado, suspension was an ironic use of the term.

Then before burning them alive their tongues were cut out or bound with wooded clamps so they couldn't recant their confession.

German methods for dealing with suspected werewolves and witches were even worse.

Fuck o'reilly, fuck faux news, fuck rupert fucking murdoch, and fuck rush limbaugh too..

Whatever O'Reilly is against...I'm for.

BillO is a professional bur in the left's ass. That's his job, appease the right and fling feces at the left. No matter the subject, he always takes the view opposite any thinking person and then goes to town with his rants of ignorance.

)O(

Isn't that supposed to be burr

Like in raymond?

No, if the "bur" doesn't have a first name, it only gets one "R"

ANYONE that either 1) Supports Gitmo for any reason, and/or 2) Supports torture in ANY form should immediately be transferred to that facility..today. When Gitmo is closed early next year..they get to stay or go the Hague - their choice.

Billo is an idiot.

He makes a hefty salary being an idiot. But like I said, that's his gig. His job is to be contrary to intelligent thinking.

I think his job is to be angry, but he does argue that they are at Gitmo because they are guilty and they are guilty because they are at Gitmo.

His job is to give people who are just generally angry at life a focus for their anger: the "other."

The question no one can answer is what will you do with all those innocent people you knew were not terrorists when you incarcerated them and tortured them? What will you do with them after all these years of pretending that there was any reason whatsoever to be holding and torturing them?
What will you do with your victims? Kill them, I suppose, so they can't embarrass you.
Weep, my country.

There is an answer, and like most issues that test one's character, it requires standing up and admitting error.

It's called reparations.

And it's going to take years, just like it did with the Japanese Internment, or amnesty for Chinese immigrants who defied the Exclusion Act.

The first act, though, is to admit we've screwed up and make amends. That's going to take courage and it's going to come with a double helping of lumps.

And I'm done weeping for this country...

)O(

Let them go. Send them to whatever country they want to go to, and hope like hell they are so happy to be free again they won't want to seek revenge. Some of them may be in such bad physical and mental condition that they may need to be in a care facility for a long time.

Well, they could always force the "detainees" to watch Bill's show...

their editor would blue line it as lacking dimension and too cartoonish for believability. What an asshole.

If some of our soldiers or people had been held in another country for this long and treated this badly, then that country had changed presidents and he released them, I think that would change our attitude to some degree about that country.

.

.

So,
Bill-doh O'Liely supports illegal detention and TORTURE?

.

Sounds like it to me. Then again, something about Billy says he loves handcuffs...

But wait...After the big Democratic victory Olbermann said this joker doesn't matter anymore on Worst Persons a while back. I don't comment on Loofah boy much but I thought that was worth mentioning.

He may not matter ... but that's a long throw from not being on the field. Shit sellers like Bill-O will be waiting for Obama to make even the smallest error, so they can pounce and say, "AHA! See?!?!?! What did I tell you!?!?!?!"

"He sneezed! Get him!"

I think Bill-O should do a special The Factor on torture, and allow himself to be waterboarded on camera...live.

He needs to make his case directly to the American People.

I wish they would put O'Liar at Gitmo [Deleted. Do NOT advocate torture on this site-Sitemonitor] He has a big mouth. All mouth and no action. What a show off.

[Edited. Please do not post messages in ALL CAPS- Sitemonitor]

It's funny how these 'patriots' who think America will keel over at the drop of a burqa also think it's just a question of manning up when faced with waterboarding, when we know Bill O'Baby would be bawling and begging not to die and Dick Cheney would have had a coronary.

For a sadistic, authoritarian sexual pervert, torture would most likely arouse the 'ole flag pole to stand up straight and salute.

The difference is, McCain caved on torture by voting to allow the CIA to do it, so in O'Reilly's mind it doesn't count since McCain flip flopped.

I know this is a liberal blog and part of what makes it popular is it points out the hypocrisy of the Right, but I think O'Reilly's is irrelevant on this issue. Who takes him seriously about how best to treat our prisoners? If this had been a debate about broadcast media issues than he might have had some relevancy. But on this he is utterly and completely irrelevant, IMO.

... to watch as the American Right-Wing has gone more and more insane.

It has been well-documented and well-known for at least 25 years that torture does not produce reliable information. It does produce claims of whatever it is the tortured soul believes his or her torturer wants to hear.

It also produces something else: Extremists.

A couple years ago, I watched a BBC documentary on the leaders of Middle-East Islamic Extremists. There was a common thread to all of their histories. They all started out as reasonable advocates of democratic reform and economic justice, who were working against despotic and oppressive regimes in their home countries. They were then all imprisoned and tortured for their activities, and they all emerged from prison as violent radicals.

The unlawful activities of our "National Security State" in places like Guantanamo have made us infinitely less safe for years to come. And the criminals in government are no less culpable for this turn of events than their enablers and cheerleaders in the Media - with Bill O'Reilly at the front and center of that parade of imbeciles.

Not much info in the grand scheme, but one of his claims to fame is that when tortured for the names of fellow airmen, he substituted the names of the Green Bay Packers' offensive line (Forrest Gregg, Jerry Kramer or somesuch).

Was he a hardened case who should have been tortured until he divulged it, or an American hero? I'm a l'il confused.

We are going to hear this sack of shit moaning and swearing in the back ground for the next four years at least. Might as well get used to it.

The LESS coverage this prick can get, the better off the whole world will be.

Once again...WHO CARES what this douche bag thinks??

Put John McCain in charge of closing it, and making sure this country does not violate the Geneva Convention.

torturingdemocracy.org has a must-see video on this subject.

Is the leader of the moron parade!
