I can't imagine that being accidental. That's not how it works. Everything is done and redone, ever with an eye on the message.
The positioning of guns in graphics was an issue for 'over-the-shoulder' graphics in broadcast news for years before the net became popular. You always had to be mindful of a gun seeming to point at the anchor's head.
So for FOX Nation to do this is deliberate. Can't slice it any other way.
Even gun owners mindful of range safety know never to point a gun, loaded or not, at another person. Your gun is always pointed down-range.

I've taken care of meth-heads and coke-heads and the meth ticks don't leave. I can always spot a tweaker, jaw thrusting, tongue lolling, etc. Coke is definitely a better choice if you can afford it.
You can always tell a stimulant freak by the twitchy, fidgitty, digitty fingers.
I can spot a dry drunk a mile away and Bush is a classic case. Stopping drinking is one thing. Dealing with alcoholism involves introspection and Bush lacks the capacity.
After at least 21 years of almost daily drinking, sometimes very heavilly, I quit in February of 2007 without any sign of withdrawals. Never had the DTs, lost any sleep, became irritable or any of that. I still have about nine beers out of a 12 pack, a bottle of Patron, a bottle of Smirnoff, a bottle of Zinfendel and a bottle of champagne. I see them daily but have never even had a craving for them like I experienced when quitting coke, meth, cigarettes and junk. I still crave each and every one of those, though very rarely and for extremely short periods but not alcohol.
I was an off-and-on again body builder/drinker, who for the last 8 years bordered on being a lush.
However, I'm now back to swimming over a mile (combining Saturday and Sunday swims.)

I kicked a cocaine addiction with greater ease than giving up alcohol. It's whatever trips your trigger. I do believe there is a psycological component to addiction as many addicts replace using with shopping or other activities to fill the hole. Actually, I'm sorry now that I even mentioned meth. This thread has gone off the tracks.
I am not getting into any discussion of things I have or have not consumed.
I will say that cigarettes seem to be one thing I can never give up and I cannot point to anything in my psyche that could be addressed by smoking the nasty things.
and probably the oral fixation aspects of smoking.
Sometimes addiction, or preference towards a substance, does not have to fulfill a clear objective that makes "sense" in the sense that there is a beneficial goal.
Most smokers, are in a sense, nicotine junkies. The sad part is that nicotine, as far as drugs go... has pretty much no beneficial side effects. I.e. you don't really get high, or get to have hallucinations, or remove yourself from the misery of real life for a few minutes/hours. Nicotine just makes you crave it. And in order to fulfill the craving, you have to f*ck up your lungs in the process.
However, marijuana, which much much much beneficial side effects... and a relatively lesser negative impact on people's health. Well that one is illegal... we couldn't have any of that!

If you only drink to get drunk on a repeated basis through the week/month, you are an alcoholic.
If you are drinking because you appreciate the taste of a good wine with your meal, or if you actually can distinguish the intricacies in flavor between different types and brands of beer. You could still be a heavy drinker, and yet not considered an alcoholic.

I am against draconian drug laws except when applied to coke and meth. They both turn you into someone you are not and are terribly hard to kick. After almost a decade of use, I've been clean for 15 years last April....except for the aforementioned occasional doobie. ;)
And I agree, the drug laws should be stricter for the hard stuff, coke, meth, heroin...that shit really does turn your life into a steaming pile of shit.

I was never into prescription drugs for some reason. Painkillers have always had a minimal effect on me.
but never really got into them...
although I did get a bit too fond of my oxycodones, (NOT oxycontins!) while recuperating from my broken collarbone...
I told my surgeon about it...and asked him to help ween me off of them.
I still needed to take them for pain, but I was poppin them like candy...And I've seen pill heads before...I didn't wanna end up like that.
Not familiar with it, but my son and his GF just started taking Wellbutrin to get off cigarettes.

I quit coke cold turkey, because not only it was givin me severe chest pains, but I was spending all available funds on it. When I kicked, I was in relatively good shape, and like 32 or 33...and I knew that wasn't a good sign...
I thought to myself, after a binge...I can't die from this dumb shit...my mom would be so disappointed in me...and I couldn't stand the thought of that.
At least in part to piss my mother off. I've quit everything cold turkey but when people want to admire my "willpower", I try to correct them. For me it isn't an exercise of will, it's a choice that I made to not live like that anymore.

I drove cross country from L.A. with two of my sons about two years ago. We took the 40 East all the way passing through Albuquerque, Memphis etc.
At one point we went to a Waffle House around 6 a.m. for breakfast. This 40 something waitress came over and I asked her what kind of toast they had and she said, "Ranch, Thousand Island, Fraanch....".
I noticed she had NO TEETH and I felt really sorry for her. I said, "No. I said, "TOAST". She rolled her eyes and said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm real tared...I was up all night doin' somethin'"....
Later on we got in the car and I told my son how badly I felt about the waitress having no teeth.
He said, "Mom! She's a f'ing METH HEAD!! Hello?! Why do you think she doesn't have any teeth? She rotted them out with METH! And she's not 40 either! She's about 20! That's what meth does to you!"
The rest of the trip we kept seeing signs that said, "METH FREE TENNESSEE", METH FREE NEW MEXICO" etc.

I once had a co-worker who blamed liberals for everything. In 2005, there was a piece about American soldiers in Iraq not having a properly armored vehicle when they ran over an explosive device and his very first reaction was to blame "liberals". I said "What liberals? The executive branch, both houses of the legislative branch and seven out of nine SCOTUS seats are all held by Republicans. What liberal could possibly have managed to make such a decision?" He had no answer of course but he didn't back off his claim that liberals were killing our troops. I had one try to debate me about universal healthcare the other day and I told him my story that I use all the time about a case that I was involved in where the child, who was 10, went through the $1 million lifetime max that was provided for coverage. I was curious as to how he thought that this child should be cared for now that he had no coverage and was going to have a hard time obtaining coverage as he had a genetic condition that would never be cured, just treated and managed. Of course he had no ideas as to how this child should get medical treatment, but universal healthcare is bad.

I've been watching what's been happening in the US since Obama got elected and I'm starting to get scared. The Republican right (I call them "Crazy Christians")are getting violent. Because they follow Rush & Chaney, you know they don't respect the rule of law. They listen to Sarah and others talking about how the founding fathers wanted Americans to be armed to fight the government - rather than fight for the government- and they can't take a black man as President. It seems like a lot of these people either think it's 1812 or wish it was! If I were American I would be fighting for some pretty hard GUN CONTROL laws.

Why am I not hearing any public condemnation of what has become a steady stream of attacks against the president? In mainstream media!!! I do not recall this ever being normal behavior under any other presidency. The First Amendment is our best, but I am distinctly hearing "Fire" being called out on numerous occasions. To not do anything about these fairly blatant threats on the President's life is to normalize them and is beyond odd. At what point will it finally be viewed as criminal and treated as such?
