How does this conficker worm get into your computer? Does it come on an email attachment or what? This is the first I have heard of it.

)O(

Remember when this was the only worm we needed to worry about?

That you are not familiar with. And I wouldn't link to any spam.
I wouldn't link to anything for a little while. That's for sure.
I've been getting e-mail from unknown sources. I delete them immediately. Mark as unsafe. And mark as junk. Or just delete.

It sounds like the virus also enters if you insert different flash drives into a USB port and have Auto Play (or Auto run) on. If you do that a lot, then you should follow the instructions. Otherwise most home computers don't need it. But make sure you have a decent firewall and it has been updated.

Having learned the hard way a long time ago, I never open attachments. Once burned, twice shy. My friends know not to send attachments to me because I will not open them. I have security up to date and everything backed up so if something happens, I hope I'm good to go.

I open very few emails that come to me. If they are from someone I know, fine. Otherwise they get deleted as quickly as they arrive.

The final conclusion of the 9/11 commission was that America had a “failure of imagination.” and that is what led to the series of catastrophic collapses in security at multiple levels, simultaneously.

But if you look back, in 1997 a group of imaginers imagined a “pearl harbor like event” that would galvanize the country behind an agenda they imagineered about invading Iraq and Afghanistan and a host of other middle east countries. They helped, along with their fellow imaginers in the media to get a leadership and general population that was willing to engage in a suspension of disbelief, just as we do when we watch a movie. We suspend our disbelief of what is happening on screen, so we too can live in an imaginary land, thereby taking a break from reality.

So we all imagined we were part of this movie chasing a fantastic villain for nothing less that the fate of the entire world. Think “The Princess Bride” or more recently “The Fall”. Yes 3000 people really did die on that fucked up day, but how much of the story line has proven to be real since then? Then we conjure up a commission of imaginers to conclude we had a “failure of imagination”. Then in a follow up book to the 9/11 report, the imaginers complain that they were lied to.

Wouldn't you say America's imagination is pretty good?

Imaginary guitar notes and imaginary guitar solos exist only in the imagination of the imaginer.

I'm putting on a plaque above my home computer, where I write my stories, "I Think, Therefore I Plotz."

I think you think I think too much?

Well I put a comment somewhere today, if you mock mocking, does that mean you're mocking mocking mocking?

Only I forgot one.

Curses ys!
Your five words beat my three words correctly used in one sentence.

indulge.

I stopped to think and then forgot to start again.

Doesn't that mean you're still thinking?

..wanted to fly planes into buildings after they finished shooting up the kids in school. Failure of imagination? doubt it.

Thanks for the linkage, Mike!

As I told you during our super secret conversation on Journo-List II: The Goat Fuckening, it's practically a crime against humanity when Kaus gets a paid soapbox while someone like Digby is forced to muddle along.

Plus, you know, there are still the Kaus goat blowing allegations that have never been denied.

Back in the old days the only way you could get a virus from a calculator is if the previous user didn't use wash his hands before using your abacus.

Franklin Roosevelt, who called Glass an "Unreconstructed Rebel." Roosevelt meant exactly what the capital "R" on Rebel implies.

Even as he worked to disenfranchise certain segments of society, he had a soft spot in his heart for individual blacks

In the midst of the fight over the Federal Reserve Bill, Glass made a special trip home to Lynchburg to appear at the manslaughter trial of his black servant. He took the witness stand, "swore that William was the best Negro that ever lived in the United States" and pleaded to keep him from imprisonment. When William was fined $200, Congressman Glass reached into his pocket, pulled out a roll of bills, paid the fine, then rushed back to Washington, D.C.

As a regular contributor to "far-left" blogs, I feel honored right now. It really sux that the View's panel let Bill slip on his misogyny but I wouldn't be surprised if he deemed bringing up his accusations of rape victims being responsible for their rapes as off limits. WADB!

anything to the left of Hitler is an enemy.

There is a woman right now (11:48 am) on CSPAN who is sitting right behind Elizabeth Warren, Chairperson TARP Oversight Panel who looks like an ancient Egyptian. So eeeeeerrieeeee!

nothing really new here that's how the "conservatives"play. they rewrite history. they always knew where
al queda was located.personally i feel this was strategy. they have always wanted to somehow establish a prolong occupation in iraq. iraq has always been a gem for many years. the occupation of iraq also has been a strategy to have a close neighboring relationship with iran. sometimes i believe they turned their
backs to afghanistan to further justify(to the public u.s. and international) the need to be involved with afghanistan. the soviet union now russia destroyed afghanistan. that failed invasion set back the afghanies(sp) 30 plus years. this has been like the roman empire of the past. invading/ occupying for resources. it will be told if we didn't do it someone else would have.

Good pieces on Village shill Howard Kurtz.
