bye bye bush, hello barack!
Got Mandate!
save me - obi wolf!
how long is it going to be before guys like stewart ,maher, and the rest of these funny bone shows going to go after obama, ? im kind of afraid that if obama just goes along with the corporation war for profits gang like bush has hes going to be toast, and if powell finds his way into baracks cabinet you can bet on it, this blogs most probably turn into a bitching and gnashing of teeth knock down free for all this year so dont change the channel you aint seen nothing yet!
The hypocrisy of fox news, and the bigotry of the rest of the right wing will give Jon and Stephen enough material. Republicans are a minority, but those bastards won't stop bitching; it will be a gold mine for comedians.
and I'm sure they will
The shows you mention haven't excluded Obama from jibes so far. They would only be half as funny if they only picked on one side.
And I think those of us, say 50 and above, are tired of having our hopes dashed. I'm going to wait and see.
Proof positive the culture that presents itself through TV is aimed at children, and demands a child like mentality from adults.
This writer is glad to be rid of his TV, and does not miss it.
Those holographic images are used frequently in the White House so I am told. In fact, they usually start out with Bush kneeling before a holographic image of Cheney in an undisclosed location wearing his usual black hood. Bush then says:
"What is thy bidding, my master?"
By the way, is it me or are elections becoming the media equivalent to the Super Bowl where they show off there new gadgets like companies due their commercials?
Please don't post clips hosted by Comedy Central... they're not viewable outside the US. :(
we canucks feel left out :(
I thought it was just me.
.. for over five minutes on the telephone, then Canadians ought to have at least the same access to all of the internets as Americans do ;)
This election is a mandate to seriously condemn and end racism once and for all. Anyone get a "black president" joke texted to them? And I live in NJ! Marcus Garvey said black people will never know themselves til their backs are against the wall. I think this is true for all people and groups of people. I see the very best and worst of America right now, two opposing beacons representing hope and hate. Hope is not a victory its a seed. The plight of progress will face even more resistance now as Obama pushes his promises into reality. First and foremost we need to throw out this bubbling pot of racism. No more tolerance of 'so-called' Americans and their hateful behavior. The time to speak out is now!
President Obama is going to have to be deliberate, calculating and make few mistakes during his Presidency. He can't afford to make extremely bold moves unless he knows for certain that they will work. He also can't afford to be an irrational, shoot from the hip, high stakes gambler like Bush. Whether we like it or not, there are those racists out there that will do everything they possibly can to ensure that a President belonging to another ethnic group never happens again. Their entire goal will be to nit pick at everything he does and to make him look as bad as they possibly can.
Once upon a time, I used to box, skydive, fight fires, direct advanced cardiac life support teams and it is NOTHING compared to what Jon Stewart has done for the last eight years!
This man spoke the truth in a digestable manner to some folks who might never have taken an interest in politics.
He continued even when things were looking pretty dangerous; habeas corpus was revoked, the Bill of Rights and Constitution trashed - a State Governor was imprisoned for his politics - and Jon Stewart mocked the fascists and their propagandists at every step of the way.
"You're hurting America..."
He is a brave and honest man.
After he said this,
A new dawn of American leadership is at hand.
To those that would tear the world down, we will defeat you.
To those that seek peace and security, we support you.
I expected him to add:
To those about to rock, we salute you.
and I think post-Bush humour is going to be a bit of an adjustment for TDS/TCR writers. Already they are reaching if only a little bit. Jon IS going to miss his Bush laugh. So are we.
The rabid right will still provide them a lot of ammunition. Sarah Palin could provide a lot of material by herself. And if Hannity, O'Reilly, and Limbaugh have not imploded in self-pity yet, there's another laugh-cow.
Did anyone else think, "Owolf Blitzer, you're my only hope"?
I'm so very tired of not being able to view The Daily Show clips (i.e. from Comedy Central), just because I don't live in the U.S.
Goodness, I'm a fan...I want to see these videos...now I just click to something else, totally frustrated.
I emailed Comedy Central, asking politely about this...no answer...not nice.
Lynda, from Canada...:(
Don't know about yous guys, but I can NEVER see the videos that come from this source. They load and load and load and load. If I just LET them load, it takes a couple of hours and then MAYBE they play.
Preference for YouTube vids here, C&L guys, THEY ACTUALLY WORK.
