Limbaugh likens Democrats to murderers, rapists, and 'this Muslim guy' that 'offed his wife's head'

I'm fairly confident that Rush Limbaugh has leapt into the abyss and is just thisshy of an aneurysm or apoplexy. I can't believe he will keep escalating like this without men in white jackets coming for him.
On his show Thursday afternoon, Rush took a call from a woman wondering why all of her carefully created myths about the joy of living in a Republican-controlled country were being threatened by these crazy Democrats. Rush's response was disturbing, to say the least:
LIMBAUGH: At this point, at this point, Gretchen, I don't care about the "why." They are not going to leave, they are trying to control it. At this point the only thing is they-must-be-stopped.
CALLER: I agree.
LIMBAUGH: Within, within the confine of our Constitution and the political arena of ideas. They must be stopped. I don't care why they see this county the way the see it. I don't care why a murderer does it. I don't care why a rapist does it. I don't care why this Muslim guy offed his wife's head. The "Now Gang" is out there saying "Ah now that’s not domestic violence, that’s just uh, that’s just uh, what'd they call it, “culturally honor killing” and this woman was gonna divorce him…it’s against the law, and, and, and, that's that's…that's his diversity. You know it, uh, I don't care… I don't care why anymore. I mean, if I figure it out, I will be glad to tell you, because its interesting to know, but it doesn't matter in terms of defeating them.
Good God. Aside from the really tenuous grip on reality, someone is going to be hurt by this kind of angry rhetoric. It won't be Rush, but some innocent person whose only crime will be hoping for progress.
Maybe bringing back the Fairness Doctrine is not likely, but something should be done about this kind of inciting rhetoric.

It's amazing to see how quickly Republicans and conservatives have become completely unhinged. In my local paper the church group must be writing letters 24/7 because every single Letter to the Editor I've read this week has been warning of End Times, warning of socialism, and "libruls that love to spend our money".

I'm all for freedom of speech, even that which I strongly disagree with (it's part of the reason I'm an ACLU member), but there are well known limits on free speech too. Libel and slander are the most obvious, but there also have been court cases to determine when free speech moves from constitutionally protected speech to dangerous and unprotected incitement to violence. Rush is at or over this line here and should be disciplined for it by his parent corporation and the FCC. If he persists, lawsuits should be brought. He is free to deeply disagree with us progressives, but not to lie and incite about us.
If he keeps up these rantings, he may get more than he bargained for. Especially in a country that will SOON be 2/3 liberal and democratic, or Green party.

The "fairness doctrine" was great for the first 60 years. It hurt no one. Why was it removed? No real, good answer, other than to monopolize the "public airwaves". Soooo, bring it back Obama. A friend told me that Limbaugh advocated in public death to all liberals. I have never found that statement but it doesn't seem a stretch to imagine he said it. What is really puzzling is the amount of people that listen and take every word spewed by Rush and Hannity as the truth.

Fact is that liberals are often the ones crying about "respecting people's beliefs"...moore so than conservatives at least. Where a conservative might just flat out say that Islam helps cause problems a liberal is loathe to say it. The liberal will insist that, for example, Islam is a religion of peace.

Case in point? The school system where I live banned peanut butter because one child has an allergy to it. One child.

My kids' schools don't allow peanut butter either. However, when they did, we had a child go into anaphylactic shock from an unknown peanut allergy when he tried some of his buddy's peanut butter crackers.
It sounds PC, but allowing a child to go to the hospital, or worse, die, instead of sensible regulation on one of the most prevalent allergens in young children doesn't seem like that difficult a choice.
My kids get their PB&Js at home on the weekends.

And the law DOES care WHY a person "does it" or else there would be no need for a trial. We could just execute the offending person on the spot. I imagine that Limpdick has finally stepped over the line and is being eyed for charges under the Patriot Act. He's using his platform for the express purpose of "inciting to violence" and this is against the law.
First amendment rights only protect you so far; a clear violation of the Patriot Act is the situation here. Screw this evil Satan's amendment rights.
Reading between the lines, its seems to me Rush wants Democrats to be stopped- by any means necessary-including violence. I take that as his advocating assasination. I do hope the authorities pay close attention to this slug, and throw his ass in jail.

No wonder there was so little outrage (try none) from the right when Gannon/Guckard was "exposed" as a plant?

Limbaugh and company basically declare war on their fellow Americans, dehumanizing them by comparing them to monsters and murderers and thereby giving wackos like Adkisson the motivation, no OBLIGATION, to do something about it.
It reminds me of the hate speech on the radio in Rwanda before the genocide there--one faction using the airwaves to dehumanize the other and spur the others to action. Sometimes Limbaugh's rhetoric is so outrageous, and so clearly VIOLENT, that I think he must know what kinds of sick intentions it puts in people's heads and he's okay with it.
When I hear this stuff, it literally makes me feel unsafe. It makes me feel like anyone who listens to Limbaugh, maybe a neighbor, a coworker, has just been given license by their glorious leader to "stop" me, whatever the hell that may mean to them...
