GOP Budget Dance: A Stroll Down Memory Lane

Republished from this morning due to technical difficulties.

The Capitol Gang looks back at the Clinton budget plan and the resulting economic growth. Nice to see that the GOP hacks are still using the exact same arguments!

won't wash. It only benefits the rich who either hoard it or put it in offshore accounts.
Raise the taxes on the rich until they yell MAMA. Then use the tax revenue for one payer health care for all.
Hey, it's a start.

frist

Then raise 'em some more. F*ck these assholes.

you mentioned is seriously erroneous.

Here is my reply to your comment.

Like a newly wealthy geek in Silicon Valley, I'd rather take a stroll down Mammory Lane.

Oh and this IS on subject. The tagline has Bill Clinton in it, and Bill like mammory lane too!!

will you?

the wingnuts will never admit that they are wrong

if they drive off a short pier, will they insist that it was long...and that it was all clinton's fault?

)O(

Well I heard Bill was long

Or at least longer than the shorter repigs.

he's been lying low lately. Bill Clinton with Brown Hair!

schmoozing it up with the big boys.

which is why, when obama leaves office, he is gonna look like morgan freeman....

which really isnt all that bad

the only guy who didnt age was reagan...and thats because he was a wax figure

but seldom in doubt. What a shame about his medical problems.

Karma.

'cause I been prayin' fo dat to happ'n. Sho nuff.

The Dems get elected to clean up the mess the Repukes leave behind.

They never tire of the "tax cuts" are the way and the "tax and spend" Dems have it all wrong. If the mofos knew so much why is the country is such bad shape when they leave. Oh right, only part of the the country is in bad shape, the rich have only gained again. But they can always count on the morons at the base, who in fact are usually the worse effected to continue to drink the cool-aid.

The last Repub I ever voted for was Tom Kean for governor of NJ. After he left office, a memo was discovered which actually described his tactics. One was to leave a fiscal mess for the Democrat, Jim Florio, to clean up.

the Dims were not elected to clean up the "Pukes" mess. The "Pukes" deliberately tanked it because they knew it couldn't be cleaned up and that would allow them to kill liberalism and eliminate future minority candidates. He called it a win-win for them.

it's impossible to have any respect for the cons. They're nihilists.

You mean all of my unemployed republican in-laws!

...Wrong Now.

The Wall Street Journal published a famously scathing editorial shortly after Clinton's budget was announced in '93. It predicted that Clinton's economic plan would be a DISASTER for the country.

Wrong.

duh

although...having a dem pres and repug congress starting in 94, did help

which is why i am pissed at the dems in congress now

they have put into this bill way too many things, that while good, have little to nothing to do with stimulating the economy

would it have killed them to create a wpa 2....just a jobs bill

then take all the other stuff and create other bills?

its like they have 8 years of pent up frustration and shoved it all into one bill

i will tell you now, if in late 2009 the economy has gotten much worse, the dems will lose their majority

will tell you now, if in late 2009 the economy has gotten much worse, the dems will lose their majority

I wouldn't be too sure of that. For sure, the Republicans are going to mount a massive propaganda / disinformation campaign leading up to the 2010 elections (no matter what the state of the economy) but I think it's fairly clear to most americans that this republican economic disaster is not going to be solved overnight, or this year, or next year.

"its like they have 8 years of pent up frustration and shoved it all into one bill"

thats been my read on it as well. break the damn thing up. its too huge and none of the leadership inspires a great deal of confidence.

There is no way in hell the repukes are goona win a majority again for decades. Regardless of how effective or ineffective this bill is. The repukes totally screwed the pooch with Bush and Cheney, and with the changing demographics, their one trick tax cuts pony isn't going to sell again - in the next few decades anyway.

Sorry I have to shout here, but nobody on TV is saying what is extremely obvious. WE JUST GOT DONE CUTTING TAXES. TWICE. It led to pathetic job numbers and a wheezing economy that has now breathed its last.

If anyone is allowed to say "tax cuts" without having this recent failure immediately shoved up their asses, I will scream. Hell, I'm screaming right now because I'm sure it's happening right now.

Every mention of "tax cuts" shoots out a sonic boom of stupid that shatters the thought processes of their listeners. But somehow they're never affected and are allowed to be stupid the next day.

bin Ladin won. America is on the brink of collapse because Bush did what the Russians did.

was a straw man. He was a convenient villain to blame for what turdboy was going to do anyway. His own biographer, Mickey Herskowitz (sp?) quoted him as having a hard-on for war back in 1999. It's the Bush Crime Family's M.O.

That's why we need a FAIRNESS DOCTRINE reinstatement.

The corporate fascist MSM isn't going to say anything about it - EVER! Because it's not in their interest to remind American's how miserably republican tax cut ideology ALWAYS fails the masses.

They've got no game. It's Peat and Repeat go over a bridge forever with the Repuglic-nts. "Cut taxes, cut taxes, cut taxes!"

They are the party for the rich, and have duped the masses for years by wrapping up in the flag and carrying a cross.

They cry about "wealth redistribution" only when the trend might be up to down instead of down to up.

They bitch about "entitlements" growing out of control but are rendered mute when the focus turns to MIC expenditures, subsidies for big pharma or big oil, off shore tax havens, lack of regulation on finance or public safety.

Fuck Them.

It doesnt matter to rethugs the more things change the more things stay the same...tax cuts to the wealthy dont work period.. they dont produce anything but hardship for the middle class and working poor .as far as trator novac thats one asshat I would love to see spending his time in the federal pen with rove and cheney ect..ect...

Well said!

I wish you would post the dates of these clips so I can send them off to my goofy sister with all my facts straight. When was the second part taped?

When was the second part taped?

I watched the crawl for a hint and looked up the death date of one of the people mentioned as having died, the guy who designed the LST ships in WWII, and it was Feb. 6, 2002, so it was some time in that vicinity, fairly early in Bush's presidency. Looks like it was about the time the Enron disaster broke, lots of Ken Lay mentions in the news crawl. I think they showed the date of the first part, April something 1993.

that might explain some of Obama's recent decisions:

Also a quote from Ed Lasky's blog at American Thinker:
"What is most hypocritical in Barack Obama's bashing of Wall Street is that his major supporter, George Soros, has earned billions during this financial fiasco by making trades that benefited from the collapse of various asset classes. Soros was also bad-mouthing the prospects of the American economy. Soros exacerbated the downfall which rewarded him, financially -- and his preferred presidential candidate, politically -- so handsomely "

Oh well, it's time for my weekly bath of Pre de Provence bath beads scented with Verbena, with Pinaud shampoo and Marius Fabres of Marseilles soap.

Clubmen's shaving soap has goten sucky since they got rid of the Pinaud scent and replaced it with something all mentholated. So after my bath I'll shave with a locally produced Van Der Hagen shaving soap.

Go to Website OpenSecrets.org and you'll find that millions of dollars have been given to the GOP and even Democrats for campaigns and personal accounts. The names of most of the bailout banks and even the Security & Investment firms have given hundred of thousands for the vote. Harry Reid got hundred of thousands from Lobbyist. This bailout isn't about the American people suffering it's about paid Law Makers who have been paid to vote no. States like Ohio and Michigan who are struggling can see their Law Makers are very rich by voting against helping the citizens. Right now Republican are drafting up a bailout for big business and banks rather then taxpayers. Most say the amount Obama is asking for is to much. While Bush and Company gave Iraq over 1 trillion dollars no questions asked.

if you know anyone living in Kentucky, Southern Indiana and Ohio or Tenn., you may want to give them a holler.
That ice storm kicked our butts big time. I'm just south of Louisville and we were without electricity for 5 days.
Had it not been for a kindly supermarket manager letting me in to buy a barbeque grill and charcoal, I don't know what my family and I would have done.
No electricity and still no drinkable water. It's a heck of a lot better, but it's a real mess here.
If anyone here is in the Louisville/E-Town area and still in need of drinking water, the E.W. James and Sons supermarket in E-Town received a whole bunch of drinking water and charcoal. Also, their candles are the cheapest I've seen around.

has ordered all KY Nat'l Guard troops up, so hopefully help will get there soon.

Best of luck to you and your neighbors!

My father, for all his fault, DID teach me how to live off the land.
We were OK. Now, I'm more worried about those around me.

"It's all Obama's fault" from the rightie wingnuts?

I guess you missed it. THAT nonsense started before he was even sworn in.

Its amazing, they are all using exactly the SAME arguments. Since the plan does not include the tax cuts (read: tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires) they want, they are going to nitpick the individual portions of the program that will make it look silly.

I only hope we can avoid the economic prosperity of the Clinton years!
