Today on This Week, Hagel strayed way off the reservation, to the point of completely undermining the Republican argument about judges in this one, beautiful sound-bite:

"The Republicans' hands aren't clean on this either. What we did with Bill Clinton's nominees - about 62 of them - we just didn't give them votes in committee or we didn't bring them up."
Harry Reid has been driving the right wing blogs crazy with his recent remarks about the filibuster, and Hagel finally gets honest about what we all know is fact. The Republicans did the same thing! The Religious right wing elite feel they have earned the right to bully the moderate republicans and Bill Frist into changing the Senate rules by voting for George Bush.
No more can the lying TV talk and AM radio republican megaphones drone on about the democrats. They will of course, but to have it come directly from the mouth of a "leading Senate Republican" gives us a perfect opportunity for an effective TV ad.
-----------------------------
Talk Left says Filibusters are constitutional and a necessary check on the party in power. They have been used by both parties. The radical right fringe in this country should not be allowed to change 200 years of history.
