Joni Mitchell did some incredible collaborations on her 2004 album The Beginning of Survival, including Wayne Shorter, Thomas Dolby and, on tonight's feature, the incomparable Willie Nelson. Joni first covered-- kind of; she rewrote some of the lyrics-- the song in 1988 on her album Chalk In A Rainstorm but this version with Willie is the new standard. "Cool Water" was written by Bob Nolan in 1941 and became a hit in 1948 by the Sons of the Pioneers (also released that year by Hank Williams).
