UPDATE: Active Shooter Reported At Fort Lee, Virginia

The Army post is on lockdown.

Via USAToday:

The U.S. Army says a shooter reported Monday at its Fort Lee post near Richmond, Va., was a female sergeant who barricaded herself in an office, then shot herself in the head as law enforcement officials tried to negotiate with her.

Maj. Gen. Stephen Lyons said the soldier went on a rampage in the office, throwing objects while barricaded on the third floor of the four-story building that houses the Army's Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM). Lyons said about 1,100 people were inside the building at the time.

The Army did not identify the soldier or give her condition. She was taken to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in RIchmond. No other injuries were reported.

Lyons said the soldier was a sergeant first class who has been in the Army for 14 years and at Fort Lee for three. He said her gun wasn't a service weapon.
