Howard Kurtz did his best to downplay his cohort Brian Kilmeade's classless remarks about Janay Rice that he pretended to apologize for on Fox & Friends last week.
September 14, 2014

Surprise, surprise. Howie Kurtz did his best to cover for his fellow Faux "news" host Brian Kilmeade on this Sunday's Media Buzz when USA Today sports columnist Christine Brennan called him out for his insulting remarks about the Rice domestic abuse case and his lame excuse for an apology he gave the next day, calling it an "unfortunate mistake."

It's unfortunate alright. Unfortunate that someone like Kilmeade is allowed on our airways in the first place.

KURTZ: On this Ray Rice controversy, so you feel that some in the media are treating it as entertainment?

BRENNAN: Certainly yes. Talk about driving ratings and clicks. I mean, I'll have to say it. We're here at Fox, but Fox & Friends, the other day the banter about “well this proves she should take the stairs.” I mean...

KURTZ: That was an unfortunate mistake, but I was glad that they came back the next day and said, we didn't mean to give the impression that we take this lightly.

BRENNAN: Yeah, but boy they did. You can say the next day, but how do those words come out of your mouth after you've seen the videos?

I'm assuming that was a rhetorical question if Brennan has spent any time at all watching Kilmeade and his buddies at Fox & Friends in action.
