Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Sunday proposed an "older white guy appreciation day" to point out how much Republican lawmakers had done for the country.

Dana Perino, former press secretary of President George W. Bush, told the host of Fox & Friends, that Republicans were overcoming the charge they were "too old, too white, too male."

"They're not necessarily going to win all the youth vote," Perino admitted "But could they win enough to help some of our candidates, Republicans, win? I think that they could."

"And I lot of them, also, are these young people who gave up their entire summers to help older white guys get re-elected and they deserve a little credit," she added.

That's when Carlson had a brainstorm: "We need, I think, an older white guy appreciation day."

"I think they've done a lot for this country," he said. "And as one of them, I do. I do think that. Penicillin! That's a contribution!"

"I want to do that," Carlson insisted. "Draft me, I'll host it."
