The only attention media attention that will satisfy this bunch is the sort that marginalizes him. Howie Kurtz and his panel decided to jump on the right wing bandwagon this Sunday and go after Sanders for some things he wrote over forty years ago.
MediaBuzz host Howard Kurtz alleged a media double standard in the coverage of Democratic upstart Bernie Sanders, whom he said is getting a free pass from the political press corps on old scandals and controversial statements.
“He’s not getting the scrutiny that comes along with being a top-tier candidate,” Kurtz claimed. “Even on his positions of breaking up the banks or single-payer healthcare — we should have a debate about that. Very few go into that.”
“Also, New York Times reporting his writing four decades ago, including this whopper, cervical cancer can be caused by lack of orgasms. Then Politico reporting this week that Sanders decades ago fathered an out of wedlock child. Can you imagine if that had been reported about any other candidate?”
“Well, it’s not being reported,” former Bush spokesperson Mercedes Schlapp said, despite the fact that Kurtz had just listed it as being reported by the New York Times and Politico.
“Look at the backlash against Trump,” Washington Examiner’s Susan Ferrechio said. “You’re not seeing that backlash.”
Michael Tomasky said the media will start scrutinizing Sanders if the Clinton campaign gets worried enough about him to do some opposition research on him and start "farming it out" to journalists. What he didn't mention is there's a chance doing something like that could backfire.
He also couldn't be bothered to point out that Bernie Sanders is no Donald Trump. Tomasky is a regular on Stephanie Miller's show and comes across as someone solidly on the progressive side of the aisle during his appearances on her show and in his writing over at The Daily Beast, but you put him on Fox and he's as useless as the rest of the conserva-Dems and faux "liberals" they have on there day after day.
