Yet another responsible gun owner has taken such exceptional care of his gun by allowing it to sit out on a table, loaded with bullets, no safety lock. Oh, and he has kids. Three kids. And they were there for their alternating weekend visitation. Did I mention that his gun was out? Loaded, on a TABLE.
You know this is not going to end well. In fact, it is an epic tragedy that we see every single day in this country. A parent's stupidity leads to a child's injury or death. A wholly preventable situation. You know, if adults weren't so focused on their Second Amendment rights and instead focused on their children. But I digress...
Five year old Haley Moore was visiting her dad in Laplace Louisiana with her sister and brother. The family was getting ready to go see a movie, reports WDSU News.. The super responsible father left his three kids alone with an armed gun on a table while he took a shower.
Ooops. Lt. Baker of the Sheriff's department reports:.
“The father said he was taking a shower when he heard a gunshot. He got out of the shower, and that's when he discovered that his daughter had accidentally shot herself.”
Paramedics performed CPR and a neighbor reports that the oldest child kept asking the paramedics "My sister shot herself. My sister shot herself. I don't know if she's going to be OK"
Horrific!!!
Haley died the next morning? Why? Because her idiot father left a LOADED gun in visible sight for his children to play with while he took a shower, leaving them completely unsupervised.
Apparently the father is "devastated." Yeah, well this was completely preventable if you were not shockingly negligent and stupid, buddy. Your kid would be here if you exhibited any intelligence at all.
Now you have ruined your two other kids lives because they watched their sister die, you ruined their mother's life because you took her youngest child and you ruined the rest of the community through your negligence. Do I feel bad for you? No. You did this. This is YOUR fault for being an irresponsible gun owner.
Gunviolence.org reports that so far this year the following statistics on guns and children:
- 219 kids under the age of 11 injured or killed
- 1078 teens age 12 - 17 injured or killed
- 936 accidental shootings
If gun owners want to keep fighting for their Second Amendment rights, maybe show us liberals that you deserve those rights. First step, not allowing your own kids to shoot/kill themselves.
