CNBC invited presidential candidate Evan McMullin on air to berate him for interfering with the Red State of Utah and possibly helping Hillary Clinton in the process.

In a new state poll, McMullin is actually the front-runner, and that did not sit well with Michelle Caruso-Cabrera or Joe Kernen.

Evan knew he was in for a grilling when the interview started like this, "We’re having you on, not because we think you can win the presidency, but because you are rising in the polls enough in Utah that there’s a threat that those electoral votes don’t actually go to the Republican, but go to you.."

Caruso-Cabrera then asked "What do you say to Republicans who might be watching right now saying, "Really? For all his flaws, if Utah's electoral votes don't go to [Trump], it's that much harder for him to beat Hillary Clinton."

Evan responded, "He's not going to beat Hillary Clinton unless something dramatic and incredible happens."

That's why he told the GOP not to nominate Trump. "He's an absolutely terrible candidate..."

It was time for Trump supporter Joe Kernen to step in stumbling and his big push back was, not making this up, "Brexit!"

Evan said, "Hey, if you want to ignore the polls. If you want to ignore the polls, that's fine. but they're pretty clear."

Kernen incredulously said, "Then let's not have the election - that's just absurd."

Joe continued with his love of the Brexit vote, "At Brexit it was 52-48, when it came out, it was 52-48 the other way. It's likely you're right, but you don't know -- okay go ahead. interrupt me."

Evan explained he wasn't talking about the popular vote, "You're talking about a popular vote. I'm talking about the projections in the electoral college. You can deny that all you want, like the Trump supporters, but that's the reality."

Kernen got angrier. "Look, you're taking votes away from the Republican and you're making it harder to stop Hillary Clinton."

McMullin said, "He might be the Republican, but he's no conservative."

Evan then listed off Trump's lefty beliefs...

Kenneth Langone tried to jump in, but off camera Kernen was still attacking McMullin.

Langone said, "All the things you said about Trump, I may agree or not agree..."

"They're true, it's a fact"

Kernen off screen, "He says so."

"Donald Trump said so."

Congratulations, Evan McMullin. You will never be President, but when you get a Republican talking head to scream Brexit! to make a point, you've done a yeoman's job.

(I had this video for a few days, but didn't get a chance to write it up until today. It was too good to pass up.)
