Greg Lake started out his musical career as a guitarist. After meeting Robert Fripp, who convinced him the switch to playing the bass, the two formed King Crimson. Not only did Greg provide the lead vocals and played bass on the band's debut album, In The Court Of The Crimson King, he did the production work on the record too.

About a year later, Lake became one third of the prog-rock supergroup Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

On Lake's Facebook page today his long time manager Stewart Young posted: “Yesterday, 7 December, I lost my best friend to a long and stubborn battle with cancer. Greg Lake will stay in my heart forever, as he has always been. His family would be grateful for privacy during this time of their grief.”

Greg Lake was 69 years old.

Please keep comments on topic: music and memories of Greg Lake. The regular Music Club is posted at the usual time, Sunday through Friday. Thank you
