On Monday, after Paul Manafort was indicted, Trump super supporter and Evangelical leader Pat Robertson told the 700 Club that Trump should issue a "blanket pardon for everybody involved" and then to shut down Mueller's investigations because he's been "tainted."
Trump surrogates are just as worried as the Trump administration now that the first domino has fallen with Mueller's special counsel.
Extreme religious right leaders have been the most enthusiastic supporters of Trump, which seems odd, but it isn't since the tea party was founded by a very religious segment of haters from the right that hadn't participated in politics until the black president was elected.
After Robertson called Paul Manafort's indictments a "technical violation that they can get him on," but he said there's no chance Mueller can get the White House. After citing an op-ed from an unnamed source on presidential powers, Robertson said, "[Trump] can grant a pardon to everybody involved in this thing if he wants to."
Robertson claimed there's no "obstruction of justice" if Trump does talk to the Justice Department over this matter.
Sorry, Pat, the head of the Justice Department is involved in the charges and has recused himself from the investigation.
As Kyle Mantyla writes, "Robertson absurdly claimed that Mueller’s investigation has been inexorably “tainted” by the fact that the Clinton campaign and DNC reportedly helped to fund an opposition research dossier during the campaign that alleged connections between the Trump campaign and Russia, insisting that any indictments that result from the investigation must therefore be dismissed and the investigation quashed."
Robertson called the Mueller investigation in Russia and the Trump campaign "fruit of the poisonous tree." Pat obviously loves him some Murder she Wrote.
Robertson omits every other connection with the Russians and Trump's team has engaged in from Jeff Sessions lies to Trump's son's actual meeting with Russian operatives to Papadopoulos trying to arrange meetings with Russians to Gen. Flynn being fired, etc...
Because, you ask? The Fusion GPS dossier is not "a clean independent dossier." What oppo-research is independent?
Trump is the president, dammit!
"He has every right to shut Mueller down and say, ‘You have gone as far as you need to and I have instructed my Justice Department to close you down," Robertson whined.
He continued, "He can grant a blanket pardon for everybody involved in everything and say, ‘I pardon them all, it’s all over, case closed, it's all over. He’s got to shut this thing down, he’s just got to.”
On the same day Todd Starnes, a Fox News contributor echoed the same sentiments and by smearing Bob Mueller:
"Ladies and gentlemen, I believe the president needs to take immediate action here,” he continued. “I believe he needs to go ahead, rip off the Band-Aid, rip of the duct tape and fire Bob Mueller because I see the end game here … We know how this is going to end and it’s not going to end well. It’s time to get rid of Bob Mueller and it’s time to get rid of his partisan cronies. It’s time to stop the jihad.”
Can you imagine what the right wing industrial media complex would do if President Obama had fired a special counsel looking into collusion charges against him and pardoned all those that were implicated in using a foreign power to dispatch your political rival during an election?
These people have no shame, honor or decency.
Trump can have his religious zealots, who really only care about power and not the people they pretend to pray for.
Good riddance to these posers.
Too bad so many Americans are swindled by these frauds.
