The hosts of Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update had some fun with Trump, and with each other, while discussing Trump's indictment in New York. Colin Jost started things off discussing what we might get to look forward to next week.

JOST: Well, great news for conservatives. New York is finally cracking down on crime. Former president Donald Trump was indicted in his role in paying hush money to Stormy Daniels, and the trial will be like a Stormy Daniels movie, because I'm deeply ashamed at how excited I am to watch it.

Trump will reportedly surrender next week, but his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, who Trump definitely called Joe Tapioca said the president will not be put in hand cuffs, though he would consider wearing fake break away hand cuffs and a Superman t-shirt.

When Trump surrenders, New York City police will take his official mugshot, which you know is the only thing Trump cares about getting right. I'm sure he's hoping it will look cool like Frank Sinatra's, but I bet it will end up closer to Nick Nolte.

His cohost Michael Che continued to rip Trump, but as The Wrap reported, it didn't take long until Jost was worried something was wrong:

The Weekend Update segment of this week’s “Saturday Night Live” was strangely quiet, leading co-anchor Colin Jost to look visibly bewildered by the lack of laughter at his jokes – only to learn he’d been pranked by co-anchor Michael Che.

Jost’s first few jokes during Weekend Update, which took shots at Donald Trump’s indictment, received only a smattering of laughter from the in-studio audience, and Jost was starting to look uncomfortable.

“At this point, it feels like even conservatives have moved on. I mean I went down to the courthouse today and I was the only protester there,” Jost said, revealing an image of himself in a MAGA hat with a sign that read “Let Our Boy Go.”

After Jost told the joke, someone in the audience yelled, “You stink!” At this, Che finally cracked and said, “I told them not to laugh at you for April Fools.”

An extremely relieved Jost started laughing and admitted the lack of laughter was rattling him. “Truly I was like, ‘Am I not mic’d?’ and then I was like, ‘Oh I just suck.’” Jost added, “That’s the meanest thing you’ve ever done to me. I am covered in sweat.”
