Not for refusing to appear before Congress, or for the border wall scam Trump pardoned him for, but opposition to increasing the debt ceiling. Sure, Sparky.
Steve Bannon Whines Critics Are Trying To Put Him In Prison
June 3, 2023

Conservative podcaster Steve Bannon suggested this week that his critics are trying to imprison him because of his opposition to increasing the nation's debt ceiling.

Just hours before the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill raising the debt ceiling on Wednesday, Bannon railed against the measure on his War Room program.

"How can you be so over the top, and you're always so mean and nasty and always look at the negative? It's all apocalyptic; everything's on fire," Bannon said, insisting there would be no cap on spending if the deal passed.

"But above all, what they had to do was not to have this in the national conversation," he continued. "They understand something. They're like, why are all the big media platforms trying to shut us down? Why are they trying to put me in prison every time you turn around?"

Bannon said his opponents wanted him in prison because they did not want his audience to be informed.

"They don't want you to have information that makes you smarter about the way this corrupt, contemptible system runs," the host added. "Because they fear you. They fear because they know they don't really have the consent of the governed. They don't. Because you do not consent to this."

Bannon has appealed a four-month prison sentence after he refused to appear before the House Select Committee on January 6. He was previously pardoned by then-President Donald Trump after being convicted of a charity scam.
