Republicans are bending themselves into pretzels trying to make Hamas's horrific attack on Israel President Joe Biden's fault. They've lined up one by one, including their leader, Donald Trump, who claims that the attack would have never happened on his watch. Stop laughing - the bitch is serious. Psaki called Rep. Mike Lawler out for going with the new GOP talking point to blame Biden for the attack.
"But it goes to my point that I raised two weeks ago with the administration in a foreign affairs hearing, which is that we should not be trading sanctioned funds for hostages," Lawler said. "Obviously, in this instance, we traded those folks that we had been holding in exchange for hostages."
"And in addition to that, the Biden administration released $6 billion in sanctioned Iranian funds," he continued. "The problem is Jen, when you do that, money is fungible. And so, Iran is able to shift other resources that it otherwise would not have been able to do to help fund terrorism."
Psaki wasn't having it.
"I'm going to stop you right there, Congressman, because what you just stated— —with all due respect, they are the greatest state sponsor of terrorism, the MSNBC host said. "What you just stated is inaccurate. They are the greatest state sponsor of terrorism."
"The funding, Congressman, the funding— It's not. —does not go to Iranian hands," she added while handing the New York Republican his ass. "It goes to approved third-party vendors who provide humanitarian support."
This is a common theme with Republicans. They are lying about the $6 billion, and they either know it or aren't keeping up with world events. The money is in Qatar, and it's not taxpayer money.
