2023 has been another wild year. And by wild, I mean not only have the stories gotten more bizarre, we've been making do with fewer resources over the past year. And yet we've still got quality writing with some new features added on!

The year in review...

John had a serious car accident in July, leaving us to cover for him for the last 5 months. He's recovering and will be back soon, we hope!

As usual, Trump is being investigated and indicted on multiple fronts, while continuing to channel despicable white supremacist and fascist jargon every chance he gets. In 2024, we only expect that to get worse, with his brigade of hooligans making trouble everywhere.

MAGA still claims when they lose elections, it's because of fraud. They are not going away. Liars gotta lie.

At least Rudy Giuliani didn't skate away free from terrorizing two Georgia election workers. On the other hand, he's unlikely to stop smearing them as long as he thinks he can get away with it.

And can we really talk about the year in review without mentioning the tar and feathering of Hunter Biden to do harm to Joe Biden? And of course, the ensuing impeachment inquiry about nothing.

After jailing us for over 430 days, and several lawyer letters later, Facebook finally unlocked C&L's Facebook. But the damage was done.

And now right-wing troll Elon Musk has taken over Twitter. Progressive voices like ours are once again threatened and corralled.

While Musk reinstates Roger Stone, his company refuses to un-ban C&L's own Conover for bogus reasons. Free speech, my ass.

Google, Twitter, and almost every other social media outlet and news app continually rejigger their algorithms to give aid and comfort to wingnuts, crooks, liars, anti-Semites, and white supremacists.

Guess what types of websites are left in the dust? Progressive websites. Honest news and opinion sites like Crooks and Liars struggle to make ends meet.

There's a reason we've been around for 18 years, and it's not because we have the Mercers or Kochs to support us. We haven't received millions of dollars like Breitbart has to promote right-wing propaganda.

We don't get funding from billionaires.

We only have you.

Musk just reinstated scum of the earth Alex Jones. Has X become the new Swastika? It seems so.

All of this is to say that as we approach our 20th year, we need your help. I know that for some of you, it's really just too much money. And I get complaints every week about the ads and the popups.
