Pope Leo XIV took time out of his undoubtedly busy schedule to fill out an absentee ballot and return it to his hometown in Illinois. The BBC noted that the 71-year-old pope recently had a portion of his right lung removed after being diagnosed with lung cancer. He also plans to travel to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru in early November.

"The Holy Father expresses his belief in the right and the duty of citizens to participate in democratic processes," the Holy See Press Office said, according to the BBC.

The first American citizen to become pontiff, Pope Leo is also the first pope to vote in a United States election.

However, this is far from the first time Pope Leo has voted in or out of the country. The BBC also reported that the press office said he "has exercised his right to vote as a United States citizen, whenever he was eligible to do so," which includes his years in Peru.

Given that Donald Trump and his lackeys have assailed and even spied on the pope for preaching peace, it’s probably a safe bet Pope Leo voted at least partially blue.
