Vice President Kamala Harris launched the "Fight for Reproductive Freedom": tour in Wisconsin, even as the state GOP is trying to take away those freedoms.
January 23, 2024

On Monday, Vice-President Kamala Harris came to Waukesha, Wisconsin to kick off their "Fight for Reproductive Freedom" tour. The entire speech is above, but the good stuff starts at the 17 minute mark. Harris points out the devastation to women across the country since the Dodd ruling overturned Roe vs Wade. She also drove home the point that just a few weeks ago Diaper Donny was boasting about appointing three extremists justices to the supreme court with the plan of having them overturning women's rights and that he was proud for being responsible for the suffering of so many women.

But just as significant as what she said, was the timing of her visit.

Monday was, of course, the 51st anniversary of Roe vs Wade. But wait, there's more. There's always more.

Just about an hour's ride to the west, Wisconsin Republicans, in their infinite lack of wisdom, thought it a good idea to hold a public hearing on a bill just introduced on Friday that would greatly clamp down on women's rights again. Currently in Wisconsin, due to a court ruling last year, a women has the right to get an abortion up to 20 weeks with no restrictions.

With the new bill which the Republicans are trying to ram through, that window would be shortened by six weeks and end at 14 weeks.. The only exception to the ban would be if the life of the mother was in danger. There would be no exceptions for cases of rape or incest.

Harris rightfully blasted this bill and said that it was coming from extremists, specifying the restrictions on rape and incest. She said that it was outrageous for a woman or a girl to have her very body assaulted and her rights taken by force, and then having the government come in and dictate to her what she can and cannot do to recover from her trauma, even as she's struggling with trying to come to terms with what happened in the first place.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has already indicated that he would veto any bill that would limit a woman's right to healthcare.
