Wow, Monica Crowley is still a thing? Who is this person, you ask? After it was revealed that Crowley was a plagiarist, she stepped down from her appointment to a role in Trump's administration at the time. She plagiarized multiple times in her book and in the columns she wrote. Oh, and even in her dissertation. In short, she was a fake, so she would have fit right in with the Trump administration, so I'm not sure what happened there.
Crowley defended McCarthyism, so maybe she's just a dumb motherfucker, and she's OK with what Joe McCarthy did. That means that Little Monica is okay with McCarthy's methods of investigation to suppress opposition.
In 1950, McCarthy alleged that hundreds of Communists had infiltrated the State Department and other federal agencies, and that, of course, led to something that crossed the line. He had crossed many lines for normal people, but when McCarthy went after the Army, that was going too far with his hunt for communists in what was labeled the 'red scare.' McCarthy's public accusations and blacklisting of professionals over their alleged memberships in, or sympathy with the Communist Party USA, or on the basis of their refusal to assist Congressional investigations, was about as anti-American as it gets. Ten Hollywood screenwriters and directors were imprisoned, and hundreds more were blacklisted, and I know that makes MAGA salivate.
I'll shut up about this now and let Crowley say some stupid shit with one very long sentence.
"The government, by the way, Senator Joe McCarthy was right, and he was trying to ring the bell in the 1950s about communist infiltration in our government and the same deep state that is now going after Donald Trump, the same deep state that removed Richard Nixon, the same deep state that went after Ronald Reagan and anybody else who stood up to them, that deep state became very insidious and in the 1950s smeared and attacked Joe McCarthy for speaking the truth about godless communism in very halls of our government," she said.
She's wrong, but at least she's consistent. Btw, McCarthy died at 48 years old from "Hepatitis, acute, cause unknown." Also, please give Monica a cookie. She really wants some sort of attention. Or don't. Fuck her.
