Speaker Johnson abruptly sent his members home today for a seven week recess ahead of the midterm elections in an effort to dodge voting on the impeachment of Pete Hegseth and a new bipartisan A.I. Kill Bill

The House just came back from a five-week recess on August 31st, and while it's customary for Congress to have some time off before a midterm election, this move reeks of fear and desperation.

Rep. Ted Lieu joined CNN to discuss Mike Johnson's outrageous maneuver.

HOST: So I wonder, are you demanding a vote on your AI bill before members leave town?

LIEU: Thank you, Boris, for your question. Last month, average gas prices set a record high in the United States.

This month, diesel prices set a record high. And we now know that multiple AI companies have lost control of their AI models, causing three leading AI CEOs to say we need congressional help.

And the response from Speaker Johnson is send us home on vacation two weeks and a day early.

That is ridiculous.

Mike Johnson is reeling. He turned tail and ran off of D.C.
