Seems Mr Davison, or whoever captured his bravura performance the other day in front of his fellow Stark County Republicans, has now made viewing him on YouTube impossible. Luckily, nothing ever completely disappears from the Internets. Write-up from Stephanie Condon at CBS News:
To say that Phil Davison is passionate about the state of the treasurer's office in Stark County, Ohio might be the understatement of the year.
The Republican -- "I have been a Republican in times good, and I have been a Republican in times bad!" he declares -- was seeking his party's nomination to be county treasurer and made a somewhat crazed plea for his party's approval this week.
Davison, a Minvera, Ohio councilman, lost the nomination to North Canton Finance Director Alex Zumbar, according to the Huffington Post. But he almost certainly left a lasting impression with his fellow Stark County Republicans.
Nate Jones at Time captured some of the stirring dialogue, from a councilman who has definitely "seen too many movies".
--"I will not apologize for my tone tonight. I have been a Republican in times good, and I have been a Republican in times bad!"
--"Politics is not touch football. Politics is winner-take-all. It always has been, and it always will be!"
--"Knowledge is power. [...] Let's use this knowledge not only as a tool -- but as a weapon!"
--"If nominated tonight I will win this election! And I'm going to say that again so there's no miscommunication tonight! If nominated tonight, I win! Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell Randy Gonzalez! I'm coming. Both barrels, guns loaded."
