A friend told me yesterday he stopped reading The Onion when he found he couldn't tell if they were kidding or not. In that vein, Media Bloodhound has the 2007 Fact or Fiction Challenge. See if you can spot the true stories/headlines and diss the fake ones.

There's nothing that can be said that's outrageous enough that we wouldn't believe a neocon would say it. That's why parody is becoming more difficult.

Asheville is a cool town though.

Hard to believe the George Will quote is a phony. He speaks that way all the time.

I must be dim tonight. Can someone explain that picture to me?

The rope that is used to raise and lower the flag has come undone at the pole and is blowing in the wind.

the sad thing is.. it's so appropriate. The city hall in Asheville has been overrun by people without brains. So it's not at all surprising that the flag would be allowed to fly wildly.

In Bushworld, attempting a distinction between fact and fiction is irrelevant.

All that matters is faith in figments.

Ok. The way I was seeing it was that the pole had sprouted a tentacle and was attacking the flag or something. Must have watched too much Sci-fi in my youth.

"Fact or Fiction": #16) "Well, that was probably the coolest presidential image since Bill Pullman played the jet fighter pilot in the movie Independence Day. That was the first thing that came to mind for me." - Time magazine columnist Joe Klein on President Bush's "Mission Accomplished" flight suit moment.

My eyes. My eyes!!

Friedman's economy one sucks big time, too! He's such a putz!

I thought they were all true. But I am really gullible and believe the worst in people. Ok, I guess I have become cynical.

I sent an article around from the Onion that I thought was true. It was on another website and it seemed real enough. My friends laughed and laughed... So I guess in addition to gullible and cynical I am .... Damn.

A friend told me yesterday he stopped reading The Onion when he found he couldn’t tell if they were kidding or not.

That's retarded. They're always kidding.
