Tea Party Republicans WSACAGBECK

It's a weird move for Glenn Beck to ask Tea Partiers to lose the signs and wardrobe. The homemade costume vibe that makes it all seem like a white supremacist Burning Man event isn't the problem with the Tea Parties--it's more like the whole of their charm.

I frankly think the costume thing is adorable. If political activism leads some guy to learn to play the fife late in life, that's a beautiful thing.

But the short-form literalism of homemade sign-making isn't everyone's medium. Many folks have taken the First Amendment train all the way to Crazytown, and it's understandable that their corporate overlords might want to encourage them to, y'know, shut the hell up. That may not happen--having made this monster, they're going to have to ride it till November.

In any case, Republicans own it. GOP, meet your new brand ambassadors. They're angry, demonstrative, and won't take "that makes sense as neither policy nor theater" as an answer. Good luck with that.

In any case, a schism may soon emerge on the right. To wit:

Like Betsy Ross and the statue of liberty costumes? Those costumes may attract ridicule and mockery although I'm not sure why it would be American or even Liberal logic to do so but they certainly are not synonymous with the type of event the blog poster indicated.

Clearly Beck knows that there are racist, violent and crazy tendencies among his tea party sheeple. Their own behavior at their tea party rallies highlight their crazy hatred of all things Obama and/or liberal and it is rather embarrassing for Beck and their big money backers like Dick Armey's FreedomWorks. No doubt GOPer Armey has played a part in Beck's request for his sheeple to leave their signs and costumes at home.

Because of this, Beck is willing to try and curtail his sheeple's 1st Amendment rights in order to make them look more sane. Just goes to show Beck really isn't all that supportive of constitutional rights after all.

Speaking of tea party's crazy brand of rhetoric and racism, Dr. Mark Lamont Hill is one of the few liberals who isn't afraid to go up against the likes of FOX News' resident loudmouth, Bill O'Reilly. On his Factor appearance last week, O'Reilly once again denied that there is racism in the tea party movement and challenged Hill (who believes there is an element of racism in the movement) to give him examples of such racism. Hill took up the challenge and is supposed to go on O'Reilly's show this week with his proof.

Please send your examples of tea party racism to Hill. It may help him compile his evidence to show O'Reilly (as obviously O'Reilly and FOX News have no interest in doing any of their own research into the many instances of tea party racism).

The Glenn Beck Review's picture

It's confounding that people who claim to embrace liberty would fall in line with someone telling them how to pray, how to act, how to dress, etc.

More interesting to me is how the conservative media watchdogs are so willing to avert their eyes from Beck's lies, hypocrisy and ignorance.

If the truth is to prevail, it needs to be disseminated. Please, before Beck gets his minions to invite your friends, neighbors and relatives to watch his show, help make them aware of his yellow propaganda. Please share this URL:
