Beck: Black Obama fans were 'taught to be slaves,' while progressives like Stern are 'taking you to a place to be slaughtered'

While Rush Limbaugh's constant race-baiting rhetoric recently was the focus of a national discussion -- thanks to his attempt to become an NFL team owner -- less has been said about the race-baiting of his would-be successor as the Big Man of the Conservative Movement: Glenn Beck.
Beck's race-baiting is admittedly more subtle. There are moments when it's glaring, as it was when he called President Obama a "racist" who "hates white people and white culture". But if you watch his show a lot, you know that there's racial undertone to much of what he does.
It comes prepackaged with built-in plausible deniability, of course. It's just a coincidence, we're sure, that so many of the targets of Beck's smear jobs -- Van Jones, Valerie Jarrett, Mark Lloyd -- happen to be African American. It's just a coincidence that those videos of ACORN, one of Beck's biggest targets, primarily are of African Americans. It's just happenstance that Beck finds scary black people under every rock -- even when they're just dance troupes.
Well, yesterday on his Fox News show, Beck's race-baiting went from "subtle" to "outright".
He ended one of his long rants about the evil effects of progressivism by featuring an audio snippet of a black woman being interviewed by a Detroit radio station:
UPDATE: C&L broke this "Obama money" audio on Oct. 10th. It was an out of context piece of audio that Limbaugh used for his own race baiting segment.
.Host: Why are you here?
Woman: To get some money.
Host: What kind of money?
Woman: Obama money.
Host: Where's it coming from?
Woman: Obama.
Host: And where did Obama get it?
Woman: I don't know. His stash? I don't know. I don't know where he got it from, but he's giving it to us to help us. We love him. That's why we voted for him. Obama! Obama!
Which inspired Beck to say this:
Beck: All right. These are the people who have been abused by the system. They've been taught they needed the government. They've been taught to be slaves, and their master is Washington! Both parties!
This goes beyond mere coded words and "coincidental" targeting -- this is just naked ol' racial stereotyping of the lowest kind.
It came, incidentally, at the end of an equally incendiary attack on the SEIU's Andy Stern -- the day before, Beck told his audience that Stern was "really running our country" -- which he wrapped up with a truly vicious attack on both the Obama White House and on progressives in general:
Beck: I told you yesterday, buckle up your seatbelt, America. Find the exit -- there's one here, here, and here. Find the exit closest to you and prepare for a crash landing. Because this plane is coming down, because the pilot is intentionally steering it into the trees!
Most likely, it'll happen sometime after Christmas. You're gonna see this economy come up -- we're already seeing it, and now it's gonna start coming back down again. And when you see the effects of what they're doing to the economy, remember these words: We will survive. No -- we'll do better than survive, we will thrive. As long as these people are not in control. They are taking you to a place to be slaughtered!
The fearmongering doesn't get much more naked than that. Combined with the race-baiting, that's quite a show Fox News has there.
I'm looking forward to revisiting this prediction, oh, about next summer. Of course, at the rate Glenn Beck is going, he will have been carted off in a straitjacket by then. Or will have formed his own televised Klan Klavern.
And we continue to justify the rantings of a madman.

Conservatives are really very lucky that Progressives aren't firearm-happy, don't believe everyone we detest and despise should be murdered. But do they know that, or do they smirk so revoltingly because they know they can get away with saying, and even doing, anything?

He has two particular sponsors and both of them are some sort of gold investment company. I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't the same company working under two different names. In one of the ads convicted felon Gordon Liddy is telling you to take his advice and buy gold. In the other a guy says he used to be incharge of Fort Knox and he thinks you should invest in gold from his company.
When we were traveling by car this summer, I heard an ad on the radio for one of these same gold investment companies and Beck himself was doing the ad.
Cause if you google them, you'll find they're pretty much a scam and borderline criminal organization...so not surprising.
What could possibly go wrong if I were to send my gold, by mail, to an unknown party with a non-transparent "appraisal" process and non-written contractual obligation of sending money back in return?

OK, we did tend to get naked a lot - and had the bodies for it - and yeah, we didn't want to go to Nam - but we were pretty clear about not wanting ANYONE to have to go to Nam - and we were right.
It's something to keep in mind - we were right about a lot - we were right about Nam, about the military industrial complex in bed with politicians, about war fought for corporate interests instead of national security. We were right about racism, and women's rights. We were right about the blatant hypocrisy and discrimination of the 50's.
And we hippies were a tiny fraction of the population - we were never the majority. The more conventional majority stole what they wanted from us as an excuse to indulge themselves - mostly by screwing around, wearing beads and growing sideburns - but they never got what was really behind the counter-culture movement.
The Right still hates us because they never got it - the people who are teabaggers today were not hippies - they were the Needermeyers who cheered when the National Guard shot those kids at Kent State. They were fascists then and they're fascists now.

When I got home, imagine my surprise to find that no one in Florida even knew that there had been a march.
Almost as if there had been a news blackout on anti-war protests. Imagine that.
When they kept killing us and we remained non-violent, it finally started to turn.
But first they had to kill a whole lot of people. Enough people so that they couldn't get away with blaming the dead for making them kill them.
Kent State had a lot to do with it - kids who weren't hippies, weren't protesting, were only trying to get across campus, sot by the National Guard. They tried to blame the hippies & the dead kids, but it was too much.
And, of course, let's not forget the never-ending parade of coffins and ruined bodies coming home from Nam every day. That had a lot to do with it.

Each day he draws this dire picture of things to come and intersperses it with the president and anything he can think of to frighten his fans of the President, his plans and the people around him. He repeats the "warning" over and over in different forms.
He hides behind the idea that he is neither republican nor democrat but instead a saviour trying to lead his people out of danger. Either his insanity or his ego gives him what he feels is the ability to know more than anyone else about what is "secretly" going on.
Then he tosses in a phrase like, "They are taking you to a place to be slaughtered" just to leave the skin tingling fear factor in his fans. He can't come out and say, The black president and his black friends are angry and they are coming to rob you and kill you. So he has to dance around it will suggestions.

I don't like to make assumptions about a person's race based on an audio tape and I'm not in the habit of doing research to determine if a person is black or not. This is the crux of the blog post, that Beck is racist, and it's based on this audio tape- an audio tape played by Beck in which he says not one word about her race or the color of her skin.

I think Beck assumes that "freedom of speech" means one is free of responsibility for the consequences of one's words, but nothing could be further from the truth.
