Jon Stewart totally busts Sean Hannity for using old footage to inflate size of Bachmann's teabagger rally
By David Neiwert Wednesday Nov 11, 2009 4:00pmBusted! Jon Stewart notices that Sean Hannity, in "reporting" on Michele Bachmann's teabagger anti-health-care rally last week, showed his audience footage from Glenn Beck's "912 Project" project of the month before, in order to make it look like there were big crowds out for it.
My question: Why aren't any journalists actually discussing the complete and utter travesty of "journalistic standards" as practiced by Fox News?
And why don't those Villagers who tut-tut the White House for standing up to the nonstop onslaught from Fox ever talk about this kind of crap? It's a constant, everyday occurrence at Fox.
Don't journalists care about their reputations anymore? Because Fox sullies the name of everyone who calls him- or herself a journalist.

Doesn't like to be called a journalist, but he really is doing a better job than the networks.
And slapping each other on the back for being on camera when things happened back in the day.
Simply pathetic. Shame on Minnesota for electing such a troll.
A single Congressional district in Minnesota- they've got two progressives in the Senate. They didn't vote for McCain.
Here's a hint....that's little caption upper left.....it should read "FILE".
Not effing "today", "earlier", "live", it should read FILE.
Otherwise, you are just incompetent assholes that should be removed from the television industry forever.
Daddy, what's television?
Having spent nearly 35 years in the television broadcasting industry, including 20 years at CNN, I am truly embarrassed by the state of the industry today. Stewart is in fact more correct than the mainstream media today. They have been kow-towed by Fox and are afraid to stand up to them. The White House's courageous stand against the propaganda eminating from Fox was not supported by real journalists. I really do fear for the future of this once great institution founded by Murrow, Cronkite, etc.
All of these people appearing on or in the pages of the MSM are way over paid. That is the reason they are willing to say anything they are told. They make the big bucks because theyare willing to lie.
If you don't understand that fact you are either stupid or one of the insane believers!
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness that is killing America!
radio talk shows
I read about it just recently.
. . . . So? It doesn't matter if they used different tapes, since there were still millions of people estimated at both rallies, and Americans are fed up with Obama taking our freedoms away! But that last part with the concerned Republican citizens showing up in ancient costumes for war was awesome! I think that was near the end of the rally, so that ought to tell you something.
That's exactly the problem. The vast majority of people won't even get why this is a big deal--unless of course CNN or MSNBC tried to do the same thing. Then it would be shameful liberal bias.
Don't journalists care about their reputations anymore?
No, they don't. Not since the pay cheques went 7 figure.
Terms of Employment, Chapter 1, Section 1:
"Thou shalt not write or say anything that conflicts with the interests of your corporate masters."
Turns out, that's about all that's in that document.
...
Dobbs leaving CNN
What are the odds he's off to Fox?
Long overdue! Oh yeah, he's heading to BeckLand.
He's taking over for the Sabado Gigante host. You know Dobbs, likes the latin ladies!
Colberto (Stephen Colbert's Spanish-language TV alter-ego) than Louuuuuu Dobbs. He's easier on the eyes, y mucho mas intelligente! ;)
I kinda favor Rick Sanchez to replace Dobbs in that time slot. I like his reporting, and it would twist the knife to replace old coot Dobbs with a hip, young, somewhat Progressive Hispanic.
I'll co-sign that thought! :)
But yes, I agree with everyone he's off to Fox Snooze. At least the really insane and hateful commentators will eventually be ghettoized over to Fox Snooze where they belong. I hope.
And whatdya know, it's a coincidence that I used a tamale making metaphor for the the actual topic at hand. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Louuuuu!
Gotta be. Fox is all over the place denying it, so you know it's a done deal.
CNN's people finally found it intolerable to work with him:
"Over the past six months, it has become increasingly clear that strong winds of change have begun buffeting this country and affecting all of us," Dobbs said during his 7 p.m. broadcast
Or at least that's what I read into it...
don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.
Heh, of course he's off to FUX News, where he can play victim, yammering with Sean of the Fake Clip Hannity about how conservatives like him are forced out of their long-held jobs by hateful liberals who know no political tactics but fear and censorship. Maybe he'll even claim that nobody has been more oppressed in America than Lou Dobbs.
But then, from his farewell speech, I almost got the impression he was running for office.
Uh huh. And fucking it up when the specter of FUX News demanded an end to on-air rational thinking.
But that won't stop me from smearing CNN when I move to a new home.
We know.
Six months?
Oh dear! Maybe he is running for office!
Honest and correct like this?
i.e. They finally fired him.
Immigrant Bashing with Lou on FUX or run for office as a proud member of Know Knothing Knation? Decisions, decisions.
Ya think? I thought this was a major issue of our time.
Weakened by whom, Lou? Those who kick and scream about free markets, but who really insist on corporate feudalism? The threat of universal health care? Or illegal immigrants? (I'm betting on the last one.)
Wait, Lou . . . are you with me on electoral reform? Or is it that illegal immigrants with leprosy are controlling Congress?
Sure you will.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Oh, go blow a rodeo clown, Lou.
"I truly believe that the major issues of our time include the growth of our middle class, the creation of more jobs, health care, immigration policy, the environment, climate change, and our military involvement, of course, in Afghanistan and Iraq."
-----------
Wow, thanks for devoting the last thirty seconds of thirty years to these issues, fuckwad.
.
But that headline has enough key words in it to give me a chubby.
"Hannity," "old," and "teabagger," I might concur...
But I suspect the answer to David's first question is simply that most "journalists" these days are as ethically bankrupt as those on Fux. They just don't get caught with their hands in the masa like Fux does on a
hourly, um daily basis! The fake newspeople make the real newspeople look like the incompetent, overpaid fools that they are. Thank you, Jon and Co.
I'm simply numb to all their shenanigans. Anyone who tries to defend them as being anything more than a front for the Republican Party instantly loses any credibility they may have had.
I would expect an announcement that Dobbs has moved to CNN within the next 24 hours. He'll be participating in the Fox morning meetings by next week (the ones where they are told what to say, and when to say it).
"It's a constant, everyday occurrence at Fox."
I wouldn't say it's constant. I mean, they do run commercials.
"Don't journalists care about their reputations anymore? Because Fox sullies the name of everyone who calls him- or herself a journalist."

Was the 9-12 thingie successful at all?
themselves, exploited a national tragedy, and had a slightly less puny showing at the actual event compared to other teabagger events, then yes, one could call it that.
Or they were successful at being total morans (word misspelled purposely).
I'm sure all the English-language poets throughout history are rolling in their graves at the thought of the spelling, grammar, and punctuation on the teabaggers' protest signs!
Speaking of poems I wrote a veterans day poem for the editors of the Dallas Morning Nudes:
"Here I sit all broken hearted
Just sworn in and still get carded."
They didn't publish it.
maybe they were just too prudish to go with it! But they should have! ;)
Helped that it was on a Saturday. Most Walmart greeters get that day off to attend fake impromptu rallies.
into a rather anemic 4-cyl 912 wannabe, the answer is YES.
Hey David...Shouldn't you give TPM a shout out on this?
They posted the same story at 9:48 this morning.
Just asking.
[TPM scheduled theirs to drop that early. Unless a big story is breaking, our bloggers don't write on the fly and publish immediately, Johnny. Most of the hard work comes in the wee small hours of the morning, and posts are scheduled to appear on the page hours or days into the future. Site Monitor]
What a maroon!
Gee, guess it's time for a (fart!) blogger ethics panel, huh?
Why should Fox even try to do a quality fake-out?
The people who watch Fox News are too brainwashed and stupid to understand the truth, even when you point it out to them.
The rest of us would know the numbers were bullshit even if Fox spent a billion bucks at Pixar...
You know what the deluded wingnut response to Jon Stewart's exposing of this bullshit would be, don't you? "You don't know, there could have been a million people there"
brainwashed and stupid to understand the truth..."
um...doncha know it's "Praise Jesus" time...I mean, all those marchers were actually able to 'dupilcate, down to the signs, the marchers from Sept 12, and turn the fall-colored leaves back to deep summer green..."!!!!!!
Even Matthews was shaking his head over this.
Don't journalists care about their reputations anymore?
No.
They are Cluster-Fox - they don't have to fake anything..they ARE FAKE EVERYTHING!
AND, LouLou Dobbs starts there TOMORROW !!! La de da.....
Excellent.
I wish I could get invited to the Fux
ChristmasHoliday party, so I could wear my unused 'Muslim terrist' Halloween costume...They are celebrating the scheduling of an interview of Obama by Major Barrett - one of the few remaining journalists at Fox - as "proof" that Fox is "fair and balanced" and legit.
I don't think "The Daily Show" is available to the denizens of Foxlandia ...
~
Bill Maher put it best...dummies talking to other dummies.
This needs to go viral. How much more proof do you need that Fox News is a huge farce? Legitimate news my arse. Maybe Rachel Maddow or Olberman will bring this up. What a great catch on Jon Stewart's part.
...is god's way of showing Americans why people who have no power over their circumstances turn to murder and mayhem.
When it came out that the Obama administration stopped cooperating with Faux, the Washington bureaus chiefs of other networks came to Faux's defense. Do they realize that this is the propanda they are defending? This is not a news organization.
They did the same thing for one of those early paid rallies, when they used a picture where there were over a million people, when they really had 50-60 thousand. It was later pointed out that a building in the current picture wasn't even built in the picture they used with the million people in it. Which means, they don't even fact-check their lies.
They are lying to us not to convince them, but us.
Of course they do. The last thing they want is to start being held to genuine journalistic standards themselves. Especially not by a Democratic president.
But pandas are so cuuuuttee...
http://www.tcnj.edu/~drew6/panda01.jpg
If fox were a real news organization, this slimy bastard would be fired for this. Proof (not that we needed it) that fox is not a news organization.
Is the person who is single-handedly responsible for the greatest decline of the US in the past decade or so. Proof-positive that US immigration (and emigration) policies, are, indeed, a complete failure.
Or does he just run it?
I'm pretty sure he is at least a resident, if not a US citizen.
Poster viola (from Oz) mentioned earlier that he returned home to a (near) royal welcome.
Where's that drunken pilot when you really need him/her?...
is where journalistic integrity goes to die. What is shameful about journalists from other networks is that they don't call the Fox people on it to keep their employment options open.
with a "Deport Rupert Murdoch" sign. I love Australians, just not this particular Australian! A girl can dream, I guess...
No more ditheridoos for me til murdoch goes home!
I think you mean didgeridoos.
:)
that 7000-mile teabag drag crosses my more direct 3000-mile journey back west. I'm just itchin' for a good brawl!
Do you remember some hayseed congressman back in 2003 when o'reilly was "boycotting" France who introduced a bill or something to change the name of French fries to "freedom fries"? Funny thing is, nobody said don't EAT the greasy things, just don't call them French fries.
We are going to eat at the Outback Steak House still, but we're going to call it the TAKE back Steak House. That proves we're dead ass serious: Australia, TAKE RUPERT MURDOCH BACK NOW!!!
people/politicians doing that? Renaming things in that way? I'm going to have to read It Can't Happen Here soon.
But yeah, Outback Steak House name change mate!
That's a good way to find one!
these tricks shows that FOX has total contempt for their viewers. The executives of Fox News think their viewers must be the dumbest people and unfortunately they are probably right.
In the interest of disclosure, I should tell you that I lifted the following from "TheMedia" over on RAWSTORY.COM's comment boards. I edited it slightly, but the original post is not mine. Here it is:
I strongly encourage anyone who is sick of hearing about Fox's lies to file a complaint to the FCC. You can do that here:
http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm
The appropriate Complaint Type is "Broadcast (TV and Radio), Cable, and Satellite Issues" and the Complaint Category is "Unauthorized, unfair, biased, illegal broadcasts" (the form states that this includes "Biased or distorted news stories by the media"). The original show aired on Fox News at 9:00 pm Eastern on November 5th 2009.
We have an avenue to correct this type of falsification and to make change we must make a complaint.
Fox News is a cable network and not regulated by the FCC.
"If you need a goat f^cked, CNN is the station for you."
or is Hannity paying for her implants? I am confused here.
Too bad the dumb shits who watch Fox will never even know about this or the rest of the out right deception and lies , Fox is all they watch and all the " news " they get . Who needs terrorists and Bin Laden when we have Murdoch and Fox right here at home ? So much for home land security .
Sean Hannity apparently apologized to his viewers, but then went on to explain that it was an "inadvertent" mistake, because ya know, those Fox viewers are so gullible, they will literally believe anything the Fox News clowns tell them. And besides, they don't care that they are lied to on a daily basis. In fact, I suspect many know it. They watch Fox because it distorts the news in such a way that reinforces their ideology.
"They watch Fox because it distorts the news in such a way that reinforces their ideology."
EXACTLY!
