The title of John Gibson's new book attacking liberals suggests the Swift Boaters are liars, too
John Gibson has a new book out hilariously titled How the Left Swiftboated America: The Liberal Media Conspiracy To Make You Think George Bush Was The Worst President In History, and he was touring his old haunts at Fox News yesterday -- first at Fox and Friends and then with Bill O'Reilly -- pitching it and showing off his Kewl New Look (like the goatee?).
His chief line: "They lied through their teeth!"
He meant the evil liberals who are tearing down poor George W. Bush's legacy, of course.
It should be entertaining to see how Gibson manages to translate "openly discussing Bush's actual record" -- from his manifest failures with Katrina to the destroyed economy -- into "lying through their teeth," but Gibson no doubt hired the best propagandists money could buy to ghost-write his book.
But the title is especially interesting in this context, because it's obvious now that Gibson equates "Swiftboating" with "lying through your teeth".
What's interesting about this is that, back in 2004, when the Swift Boat folks were appearing on Fox News en masse in real time and in fact lying through their teeth, John Gibson actually told his viewers they were telling the truth.
Not only that, Gibson attacked other media outlets for failing to run with the Swift Boat stories. He also carried "news" reports treating the Swift Boaters as credible sources.
So who was lying through their teeth back then, and who's doing it now? We suspect that John Gibson hasn't any idea how to distinguish them -- but he does know how to write a book that will sell red meat on the right-wing talk circuit.
Blue Texan has more.

It's a free for all in right wing spin world right now. Everyone is writing a book, facts not included. When I first heard the name of his book, I laughed and wondered how long they discussed the title before making it official.
I guess the part of America that is still blood red is lapping books like his and Palin's up at a rapid rate. Many of those buying these books will probably have to do without something to pay the cost of the book but I guess lies are worth a lot these days.

Something insane is going on because very few people actually purchase this kind of toilet paper. I always ask the book sellers and they tell me these stupid right wing books don't move.
Republiks buy these book by the truckloadsas part of their propaganda effort. Teabaggers usually don't read, even if they can, and certainly wouldn't spend money on a book. Sheesh. Bourbon Republiks wouldn't read this garbage. What market does that leave for it? None.
I have seen a similar trend in local book stores, I saw one running a "reason bundle" offer in which they were bundling Payne and Glenn Beck's books in a buy one get half free package deal.
I had to ask the clerk if that was some sort of clever joke... it wasn't.

If I recall correctly Chris Matthews had the Swiftboaters on his show a few times and never disputed what they said. I would guess that the Swiftboaters got as much free runs of their ads on the cable news shows as the runs they had to pay for. It was about as bad as the constant showing of the Rev Wright rant.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
I realize that "swiftboating" has become part of the political lexicon, but to use it in such a projecting fashion like this and suggest that someone who benefitted from the original and true swiftboating in our history is now the victim of it....just despicable.

Oh, you mean the religious fable about the single homeless mother whose kid received handouts from a trio of astronomers who likely hailed from what is modern day Iran?
I heard she was married to a carpenter but when she turned up pregnant and told her husband an angel had something to do with it, he was cool with that. Then they headed out to pay their taxes near her due date. Meanwhile another angel or maybe the same one popped in on some shepherds and told them to follow a big hunkin' star to get to see a little baby who would be super famous one day. So the shepherds gathered up a couple of sheep and high tailed it to the spot.

The drooling cretins who buy this toilet paper tract won't come anywhere near understanding the massive irony of the title.
This wacky wingnuttery has a weird logic to it.
Gibson, Palin, O'Reilly, Malkin, Coulter et al have discovered there is a pile o' cash to be made selling books to idiots.
Just turn the traitorous acts and attitudes of the far right upside down and hang them on the nasty, evil liberals, stick the stinking result between the cover of a book (large print and provocative title required), and presto - instant bestseller.
Somewhere an amoral publishing exec and the Fox News hack setting up the inevitable fawning promo "interview" are laughing until they piss themselves.
Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation owns HarperCollins who is the publisher of Palin's book. Wonder if they are the publishers of these other right wing nut books too. Maybe that's why they are coming out so fast and furious.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
So John Gibson is suggesting that the Bush administration never launched an illegal war of aggression against Iraq based on forged documents, lies and illegal domestic propaganda? That the Bush administration never authorized the illegal torture of detainees that resulted in the deaths of dozens of them? Because if that's the case I'd have to say that John Gibson is lying through his teeth and all the world knows it. Because it is most assuredly those acts as well as many more immoral illegal acts that make it extremely clear that George Bush is beyond doubt the worst President in American history.

Modern day republicans are as insane as any group of people in history.
They have no reguard for honesty or honor. They revel in being willfully ignorant. Willing to go totally on faith that they are right no matter how fucked up the idea or how horrible the outcome. It had to be the right decision because they believe it was!
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness that is killing America!
I saw this book a few days ago and couldnt believe what I was seeing, they've taken this projection thing to nosebleed levels. I believe the right is trying to flood the book market with their propaganda, the shear number of wing-nut books that they release in a year indicates this, and the shear number show what kind of quality these McBooks feature.
For fun I invite everyone here to follow my running debate with the wingnuts at Amazon, it's been going a couple of days now from a review by blogger Scoobie Davis. I'm sure you wont have any trouble figuring out which debator I am there, join in if you like. I wont give the nut-baggers the satisfaction of getting the last word, I promise.

The hypocrisy of the swift boat thing is amazing.
This shithead will keep giving interviews though and repeating "....they lied through their teeth...." He should just record that phrase and push play when asked about his "book."
What Bush legacy? My god, how stupid can a neocon be? Guess its all about the money.
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
The only thing left for these projecting imbeciles; is for Ann Coulter to write a book about "how liberals took over the republican party under Bush and Cheney and nearly destroyed america!"
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.

Gibson is ridiculous. He spews this crap on a daily basis but nobody pays any attention to him. He is so stupid. Every day he goes on and on about idiotic crap.
This is just another attempt by the Republicans to rewrite history. Although a piss poor one. Gibson, just like most Faux Noise zombies, has a different recollection of the Bush nightmare.
