Joke of the Day

Alaska Republicans ask Mark Begich to resign.
"Gov. Sarah Palin and the head of the Alaska Republican Party said Thursday that Sen. Mark Begich should give his Senate seat up to a special election now that prosecutors have abandoned their case against Ted Stevens"
What did Mark do? Nothing. It does prove how incompetent the Bush justice department was and it's not like Stevens is, yea know, an innocent man. How about Ted Stevens battles Sarah Palin in the next election? It's not like they are pals.

NO!

And yes, Palin is a joke.

Bite my shiny metal ass.

Maybe we should consider it as long as Stevens agrees to rehabilitate hisself.

Nahhh!

Andy K's picture

Palin, a Republican, had called for Stevens to step aside after he had been convicted but said Thursday that "I believed in justice through our legal system."

Believed? Past tense?

telling people to resign. Maybe after all the things people are finding out about her, maybe she should.

Let see...George Bush looses his election and he should serve for 8 years, but Begich won his election and he should resign. Only on Planet Wingnuttia does that fly.

wow palin still gets time on the "tubes". i'm NOT sure yet, if i want her to run for president next time around. to me she's a closet knut.

Shoeless's picture

I wonder if Palin sees this as some sort of addle minded plan to backdoor herself into a senate seat.

...because we all know that is exactly what Palin and every other Republican would do in similar circumstances. Begich can't go wrong if he relies on Republicans to provide moral and ethical guidance.

Finally Bush's justice department's graduates of Liberty University law school do something right.

Will we see the two prosecutors are indicted for obstruction of justice for intentionally blowing the case? In my dreams.

Off topic, but what's up with all these door-to-door salesmen joining up with C&L just to make posts containing links selling junk? I've been seeing this in here more and more lately.

I had flagged a sales pitch comment once, and have seen more since, but was reluctant to continue to flag because I didn't want to be a pain in the butt. I will take your advice though. :)

And thanks Shoeless for asking the question. ;)

"Gov. Palin blasts Levi Johnston for 'Tyra' sex talk"

"Bristol did not even know Levi was going on the show. We're disappointed that Levi and his family, in a quest for fame, attention, and fortune, are engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, and even distortion of their relationship," says the statement from the Palin family rep.

>>ex-Son in law learned from the best i guess

It might be well advised for Levi to move out of Alaska as soon as possible. Looks like he's starting to inccur the wraith of Queen Sarah.

They Bush justice department made mistakes on purpose so that Stevens would win on appeal.

Funny about all the people who bemoan about public crooks now rush to the defense of an obvious crook.

I hope we're not the only people who realize that.

IT should be a sitcom. Put it Wednesday nights, there's nothing on TV Wednesday anyway.

Starring as the bubbling governor - Sarah Palin, the mischievous Senator Ted Stevens. Special guest appearance by Bristol Palin the slutty daughter.

I'm enjoying that. Add a character operating HAARP, pointing it at people to push them over the edge with mind-altering energy beams bounced off the ionosphere to project neurophone-style (I have one!) voices into their heads, and Mark's brother Nick passing out tinfoil hats to cast members.

Free TV is so f**king awful.

Although it's probably geeky of me, I was delighted when I got in the mail this week both The Son of Tarzan (1920),with Kamuela Searle and The Adventures of Tarzan (1922),with Elmo Lincoln (the original Tarzan from 1918) in his third and last outing as the ape man.

Here's Searle, but needless to say he wore more clothes in the film. But he died during the making when an elephant snapped his back.

This is Elmo Lincoln in his first Tarzan movie in 1918.

But he retired after his third one, because he was upset that a stuntman died during filming, and presumably knew about Searle. But much older and strong looking he was in Lex Barker's first apeman movie Tarzan and the Huntress, in a small part of a village fisherman.

Even Johnny Weismuller, who'se contract wasn't renewed because he was pushing for a cut of the profits, and getting old, was upset during the making of his last Tarzan and the Amazons, because a stunt man was killed.

I watch two shows religiously on free TV and that's it. We'll, it would be three shows if my old ass could stay up late enough to watch Letterman. The Office and believe it or not, The Big Bang Theory. The Big Bang Theory is actually quite funny. You just have to give it a chance.

I'm an 70's 80's horror buff myself (none of the current or 90's stuff it's just recycling what's already been done). Saw Halloween in 1978 and was hooked.

I'm more of a fan of horror from 1920's to 1960's, although I like the more recent American Werewolf of London (I'm a fan), The Changling with George C Scott, and The Others with Nicole Kidman.

Sarah has to be grateful to have the distraction of spinning Steven's lack of vindication in headlines considering the Palin-stanicals family values headlines for the world who is watching.

(1) Levi Johnston admits he and Sarah Palin's daughter-stanical, Bristol. were given persmission from Mommy-stanical to share a bedroom most assuredly not while bible thumping

At the same time he and his family opined on the airwaves regarding the uncouth treatment of he and his family after their holier than thou conservative conception came screaming into life in Alaska, the Alabama of the North.

THEN: Tod Palin's sister was arrested by police in Wasilla for her SECOND burglary of a home this week (with her 4-year old child in tow). Homeowner stayed home "just in case" awaiting armed in his bathroom for his "visitor" to make a second coming . . .and she did with her 4-year old in tow again She apparently was an avid fan of how important her mommy-stanical role model duties are for her kid(s).

4-year old told police that she had been in the man's home before while police confirmed mommy-stanicals shoe and tire prints matched the earlier week's burglary to her.

Daddy-stanical was called to pick up the 4-year old and bragged how wonderful his stay-at-home mom/wife is. Nice to have connections...he got to take the little one home instead of Child Protective Services getting involved.

www.adn.com has links as well as nearly every media out there, ROFLMAO.

Keep in mind, the dismissal of THIS particular case only indicates prosecutorial misconduct. It does not indicate Stevens' innocence in his actions with contractors. He can and may be indicted and tried again.

That's all I can really say about that.

Is anyone out there more knowledgeable than me about Alaska politics? If Begich resigns, is it guaranteed that there will be a run-off election, or could Palin sneak in a Gov's appointee, ala Begloiavich?
Secondly, does she really believe that it was the conviction alone that allowed Begich to defeat Stevens? I mean, usually, 7 felony indictments for corruption should be enough to sway an election (just ask Gary Condit; he wasn't even indicted). Just because the case was overturned, it doesn't mean Stevens is innocent. I get the impression that the main reasons Holder decided not to re-try Stevens was 1) His age and 2) He lost his position, so adding a prison sentence would be piling on. But if he's young enough to serve a 6 year Senate term, he's young enough to serve a 6 year prison term. And if he wants a "do over" on the election, then Holder should get a "do-over" on the prosecution. Since the case was OVERTURNED, I don't believe double-jeopardy applies.

Back in October, Palin said Stevens should resign. I guess she changed her mind.

Too god damn funny.

What is your conceptual, continuity?

phillydrj's picture

Anyone else wonder if the Bushies practiced incompetence on purpose knowing it would get the case thrown out? Maybe the plan actually failed when they didn't get the case tossed before the election. Of course, the righties view this development as proof of innocence resulting in the calls for a special election. I think by now the righties have lost a few copies of their playbook and we all know what step comes next, but if they have a copy of the plays, why can't the Dems beat them at the political game?
