Our new C&L pal Jon grabbed this video from CNN and it's pretty awesome. As the panel was discussing Micheal Steele's idiotic critique of President Obama. (You remember how the extreme right wing lunatics like Sean Hannity dishonestly edited Obama's words so they could misquote his speech to Europe?)

Europe won't committ more money for stimulus because most of them already have "socialism" in place to assist their citizenry. As far as Afghanistan goes, Bush left before the job was done, they verbally assaulted "old Europe" and they reward only American contractors with the largesse in contracts, at the beginning of the Iraq War(I remember Blair rushing over for an emergency meeting with Bush on that subject), so why would they want to help?

Ari Fleisher - If all you want to do is get Europe to like you, that's easy, but if you want to lead the world, that's harder.
No Ari, what you want to do is work with the world as a leader. It's easy to bludgen the world and tell them, "You're either either with us or against us." Just because something is in our interest, doesn't mean the rest of the world will just bow down to us. We have to work with them, sometimes they'll agree, other times we'll have to give something in order to get. Other times, we won't get our way, no matter what. It's that old pre 9-11 thinking, that "cowboy diplomacy" that got us into the mess where the world doesn't respect us. They know President Obama isn't like that, but it's going to take time to undo the damage done by Failure-in-Chief Bush.

Bush neither won a presidential election nor led the world. He drop kicked this country and destroyed our image throughout the world. Obama has won and is admitting that we are far from perfect. These guys are rewriting the facts every day. Ari is like an old Cassius who lost the lean and hungry look and is left with an air of mendacity and decay. He and Norm Coleman need to got find a sandbox to play in. It's time for reality to prevail.
Ari is right that nobody in Europe is anymore interested in Obama's plans for war in Afghanistan than they were in Bush's bloody invasion of Iraq. Obama's job as pitchman for this crap fell flat.
Unlike Ari, I applaud the Europeans on this.
I hope Obama realizes that he isn't going to get anywhere with this extravaganza. He just will continue to dig the poor old USA into a deeper financial hole.

Ari hasn't been here, he probably does not read a European language, and I am sorry no one asked him: What are the Europeans doing to stimulate their economies, and what does he mean by Europe.
Americans are by and large ignorant of anything happening beyond their boraders, and that mental void is generally filled with idiotic shibboleths. For anyone's info, the Europeans are trying very hard to provide stimulus, on the other hand, we have a social system to catch people in need (that is VERY important, otherwise you get social unrest), we are investing huge amounts in stimulating the economy (in each economy the situation is different, may I remind Americans that Europe is not ONE country, but a bunch of them, so the stimulus is both European and sovereign).... As for Afghanistan, there are debates on... Please be reminded that in Germany, e.g., the army is recruited, and sending soldiers off to war is very unpopular. Because the army is supposed to be DEFENSIVE.
Obama is doing the right thing, and it is up to the Europeans to also move back towards the USA.... There was an interview with Joschka Fischer that touched on this matter, it was, alaso, bever published in the USA (in spite of many attempts, 35 in all) ... it is available at www.businessguide.ch somewhere (January 09 edition).
Anyway... what do you expect from two shills like Fleischer and Steele. The GOP disintegrated, like the bubble in Limbaughs gut reaching the fresh air...
