When I was general manager of Sire Records one of my favorite people to see while in was in London was always Chrissie Hynde, lead singer of The Pretenders, one of our label's most successful bands. We were both serious vegans so it was easy to eat together. The Pretenders still play shows and Chrissie is still out in the public eye, doing what she can to make the world a better place. Next month she's opening a vegetarian restaurant, VegiTerranean, in her beloved old hometown, Akron, Ohio. Saturday the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame inductee was back in Akron, serving up samples of hors d'oeuvres to passersby in front of where the restaurant will be opening. I thought tonight might be a good time to listen to one of the band's biggest hits, a very relevant one:
