At Fukushima Unit 4, the impending removal of hugely radioactive spent fuel rods from a pool 100 feet in the air presents unparalleled scientific and engineering challenges.
December 23, 2013

For over a year, radiation has been leaking from Japan's disabled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, which was badly damaged in the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. However, the for-profit company tasked with containing the leaks, TEPCO, didn't tell the public until recently.

MoveOn member Harvey Wasserman started a campaign on MoveOn.org to make sure you know the truth about what's happening at Fukushima.

Wasserman has started a petition through Moveon.org, asking the United Nations to take charge at Fukushima:

"At Fukushima Unit 4, the impending removal of hugely radioactive spent fuel rods from a pool 100 feet in the air presents unparalleled scientific and engineering challenges. With the potential for 15,000 times more fallout than was released at Hiroshima, we ask the world community, through the United Nations, to take control of this uniquely perilous task."
